Mulkern Racing: PASS North Series
White Mountain Motorsports Park Race Preview
THE STORY
FALMOUTH, Maine – Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, New Brunswick, tries to rebound from a rough night last time out when the PASS North Series holds the PASS 150 at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, N.H., on Saturday, May 26. Sommerville salvaged an eighth-place finish two weeks ago at Star Speedway in an ill-handling No. 48 A.E. McKay Builders Chevrolet, but he believes he can get his season back on track at White Mountain. Last year, in his first two career visits to the track, Sommerville posted a pair of Top-5 finishes. Doiron leads PASS super late models to White Mountain
past PASS Rookies of the Year at the top of early season points
Round two of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North super late model “Bull Ring Tour” gets the green Saturday May 26th at North Woodstock New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park and the early season results indicate that a bunch of past PASS North Rookies of the Year are coming of age.
Joey Doiron scored his first PASS super late model win in the Beech Ridge season opener and backed that up with a fourth at Star Speedway. That performance matches his two top fives earned in his 2010 and 2011 campaigns and he will look for another to keep his name atop the standings. The 2010 PASS North Rookie of the Year’s best White Mountain finish is eighth and he will likely need to better that run this time out, as 2011 Co-Rookie Lonnie Sommerville is hot on his heels, just seven points back. Sommerville shared the 2011 award with Kyle DeSouza, and DeSouza is just ten markers back from Sommerville in third. DJ Shaw won the award in 2008 and he’s a past White Mountain Late Model Champion too. Shaw sits fourth, just ahead of Travis Benjamin who’s coming off one of his best runs in a long while with a runner-up at Star. (more…)
Jarod Soucy took the Roadrunner Division veterans to school by winning in his first ever Roadrunner feature on Hudson Speedways 65th opening day on May 20th. Soucy was co-champion with Chad Wendell last season in the Thunder Lights, Hudson’s youth division. Soucy didn’t miss a beat in stepping up and racing in the faster and tougher Roadrunner division. Soucy started seventh and had patience and waited for the right time to make passes. Hollywood Helliwell had the lead with two laps to go and by then Soucy was on his bumper. Soucy got under Helliwell coming off a corner and took the white flag in first place and hung on to win.
Erica Page also made the leap from Thunder Lights to the Roadrunners. Page led from the drop of the green until after the halfway mark when a caution flew. Page had a poor restart and got shuffled back in the pack and finished ninth. Page has always raced front wheel drive cars but this season is in a rear wheel drive. Once she gets a little more seat time in the car we will see her in victory lane with the checkers in hand. (more…)
