Roy wins second straight – gains Airborne point lead

SOUTH PLATTSBURGH – Martin Roy swooped around leaders Greg Atkins and Leon Gonyo with nine laps to go and went on to his second straight DIRTcar Modified win on Della Auto Group Night at Airborne Speedway.

The 30-lap main event was a bruiser that took nine cautions to complete. Clean restarts were the issue. The race was red-flagged after three laps when Matt Woodruff got up on the wheel of Cam Grady’s machine and slammed into the turn four wall. Woodruff was not seriously injured.

Roy back in Airborne title chase with 2nd win

South Plattsburgh – Martin Roy took the lead from upset-minded Cam Grady on a lap-18 restart and drove off to his second DIRTcar Modified win of the season Saturday at Airborne Speedway.

The win brought the former track champion from Napierville, QC back into title contention. Current point leader Patrick Dupree, seeking to repeat as Ernie’s Discount Tools Modified champion, pitted mid-race to tend to a broken suspension part and settled for a 12th-place finish. Dupree leads Roy 428-400. George Foley is third in points (378).

South Plattsburgh, NY – Ted Christopher of Plainville, Conn took the lead on lap 20 and drew off to a convincing win the ISMA Supermodified Della Auto Group 50 at Airborne Speedway Saturday. It was the third career win seven in Supermodified starts for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour ace.

“This is my first time here,” Christopher said in victory lane. “It’s a great race track. You could run all over the place. There are so many areas on the track you can use.”

ISMA Supermodifieds return to Airborne

South Plattsburgh – The International Supermodified Association (ISMA) featuring the fastest short-track cars in the world, return to Airborne Speedway this Saturday, July 23. The Supermodifieds – lightweight, winged and packing 850 HP, treated Airborne fans to a main event that wasn’t decided until the last lap in their 2010 debut.

South Plattsburgh – George Foley of Saranac Lake snatched his second victory of the season, besting a 30-car Modified field at Airborne Speedway Saturday. Foley held off veteran Leon Gonyo of Chazy for the win. Both drivers are sponsored in part by Egglefield Ford.

The race got off to a ragged start – five cautions in eight laps – which worked to Foley’s advantage. “I kept starting on the outside and the car was going really well out there”, he said. “Then when I got to the front, they went to single-file restarts.”
