Matt Frahm Prepared for 2014 Season with Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS)

Northfield, VT- What makes the most winningest driver in GSPSS history so successful? Two words: preparation and family.

North Salem, NH’s own Matt Frahm has already enjoyed a storied racing career. Frahm has already competed in the K + N Series and has strapped in for several Nationwide Series races. Returning back to Pro Stocks in 2013, the driver of the Lambert Roofing/ WDW Machine/ Granite Industrial Gases Chevrolet has 3 career wins in the GSPSS in 12 tries, the result of tedious preparation. “I learned so much at the Nationwide level,” comments Frahm. “I learned that every second is valuable, especially in practice.” Frahm takes that to a whole new level. Not only does the Frahm family take advantage of every second at the track, the preparation starts before the car even leaves the shop. He and his father go over every inch of the car, check every nut and bolt, and have their game plan in place before the car makes it to the trailer. “You win races in the shop, not at the track,” Frahm states. Being prepared before getting to the track gives them more time to fine tune their automobile once the tires get bolted on.

NORTHFIELD, VT- For Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) racer Mike Parks, racing isn’t just a hobby, it’s a way of life.

Parks drives the #66 Black Rock Steakhouse/360 Design Labs/D + D Amusements Chevrolet for a series he has created, but he takes his love for the sport much further than that. Parks can be seen race directing at Monadnock Speedway on Saturdays when the series is not racing, helping Mike Bruno at Devils Bowl on Fridays when needed, being a crew member for fellow racers, or just grabbing a seat in the stands when nothing else is going on. “I’m still a fan first and foremost,” the Walpole, NH driver admits. “My friend Nathan Kelly and I attended between 70-80 races one year. I have a unique devotion to the sport.”

Racing Means Much More to GSPSS Rookie Matty Sanborn

Matty Sanborn PhotoNORTHFIELD, VT- Matty Sanborn will be chasing the Rookie of the Year crown in the Granite State Pro Stock Series in 2014. What may be more important than any honors or trophies, is the relationship that Sanborn has with the sport.

Sanborn started his racing career at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway at 17 years old, and moved to Oxford Plains Speedway the next year. His racing operation is small, but it is very close knit. His father, Randy, is the heart and soul of his racing career. Sanborn and his father were always around racing together, whether it was fielding a car or just being in the pits. “I couldn’t do it without him, no doubt about it” Sanborn says. “He is a disabled Vietnam Veteran, I’m so proud of him, and he is always there for me. We go through a lot of emotions together in racing, it’s just a healthy thing to do together.”

Gray Sets Sights on 2014 Granite State Pro Stock Series Title

Barry Gray with his 29 ChevroletNorthfield, VT- In the eyes of Barry Gray, the 2013 season was an off year. The Belchertown, MA driver picked up a win, 4 top 5’s, and finished 7th in points, but had 4 DNF’s, 3 of which occurred before lap 10. Gray’s goals are to have more success during qualifying rounds, and to practice self-preservation. “To finish first, first you must finish,” Gray adds.

Gray’s racing career wasn’t a planned thing. One day, Gray headed to see a man named Bruce Clark to pick up a washing machine. What he brought back with him was a race car. The irony of the situation is that same Bruce Clark’s daughter, Christina, would catch the eye of Gray’s son Adam years later, as they are due to be married this upcoming October.
