LaJoie, from Concord, N.C., powered the No. 07 Thermal Control Products/Sims Metal Ford to the lead on the event’s first lap, but pole-sitter Kyle Larson wrestled it away the next circuit and LaJoie ran second through the first quarter of the race. The 20-year-old regained the lead on Lap 37 and held on through the balance of the event that included eight more restarts for his first trip to Victory Lane.

“To put your name on the same page as Richard Petty or Tim Flock is really incredible,” LaJoie said of joining the legendary Bowman Gray winners list. “I have a long, long, long way to go to catch up to the prestige of those guys. I’m just happy to get in Victory Lane once to break that barrier.”

Brett Moffitt, Pena Race Strong But Finishes are Elusive at Bowman Gray

NASCAR K&N SeriesHattori Racing Enterprises raced solid at the historic Bowman Gray Stadium in the K&N Pro Series East NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 on Saturday, June 2, 2012 but a last lap spin relegated their finishes to 9th and 19th.

“We had a hard time getting forward bite during practice,”Grimes, IA native, Brett Moffitt explained. “The track was real slick and there was no grip. We made a lot of changes but finally felt like we had a good balance at the end of practice.”

Sergio Pena battled the same condition in his # 1 AISIN AW Toyota.

Eddie MacDonald scored 10th place finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series at Iowa Speedway

NASCAR K&N SeriesEddie MacDonald scored a tenth place finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East/West combination race in the Graham Tire 150 at Iowa Speedway. Two West cars finished ahead of the Grimm Construction Chevy giving MacDonald eighth place East Series points. He currently sits in eighth place in the point’s race after four events.

“The car was really fast in the first practice running sixth and we were very happy with it,” said MacDonald. “We went out on old tires so we expected to be faster with new tires, but we were not. The car was very loose in qualifying and I didn’t know what happened. All of a sudden it didn’t handle anything like it did in practice. We lost some positions in the second practice but that was because all the other teams ran stickers. So qualifying the way we did was a real surprise.”

Hattori Racing Enterprises Strong at Iowa Speedway Graham Tire 150

Hattori Racing Enterprises had a dominating day at Iowa Speedway for the Graham Tire 150 on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Hometown hero, Brett Moffitt won his second consecutive pole position and dominated the 150-lap event until contact after a restart with a rookie driver at lap 143. Moffitt held on to finish 5th.

Brett Moffitt, driver of the #11 Castle Packs Power Toyota Camry earned his second Coors 21 Pole position in a row by setting the fast time of 23.829 for qualifying. He was the first car to qualify and was never bumped from the pole.

“The car was real good in qualifying,” Grimes, IA native, Moffitt stated. “We were fast in practice, but I was not at all happy with the way the car was handling. I was real tight and just couldn’t get through the corners. But just like at Richmond, my guys worked their guts out and gave me a fast car for the race.”
