The Rowley, Mass. veteran started his 183rd race in the series and took the green flag as the defending champion of last year’s event. A flat tire on lap 49 appeared to quash any hopes of repeating the win but Eddie Mac and the crew never gave up and rallied from the flat and 24th restarting position to make his patented charge to the front.

Eddie MacDonald powered the Grimm Construction/Multiple Sclerosis Society Chevrolet to a hard earned sixth place finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Pittlite 125 at Bristol Motor Speedway as a companion race with the Sprint Cup Series. “With everything that we had to overcome in the race, we are pleased with the sixth place finish,” said Eddie Mac after the race. “Obviously we would have liked to compete for the win but this finish showed how we can overcome adversity. We had a very similar set-up in the car as last year and the car handled pretty good. We didn’t have a great qualifying run (16th) but last year we started 13th and won so we knew the car would be good for the long run.” (more…)

“We had a very eventful day,” Busch said. “I don’t even know how to describe it. This is a good sign. I think we found some good things in our Haas Automation Chevrolet.”

Nowhere To Go for Harvick at Bristol

rgbdfgdfKevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Jimmy John’s/Budweiser Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), finished 38th in the Food City 500 in Support of Steve Byrnes and Stand Up To Cancer NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Sunday night at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. Harvick once again looked to be the driver to beat, leading a race-high 184 laps. A midrace accident, however, spoiled his chances for victory and ended his streak of 11 top-10 finishes dating back to last November at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

Harvick started the race in fourth place and wasted no time making his bid for the lead, taking over the top spot on lap six. He led a total of 16 laps before the racing action came to a halt for rain. After a red-flag period that lasted nearly four hours, racing resumed with Harvick picking up right where he left off, surrendering the lead only a couple of times during the next several circuits around the .533-mile oval.
