Kurt Busch Overcomes Multitude of Late-Race Issues To Finish 15th with Fill-In Crew Chief at Bristol

rgbdfgdfA promising start for Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), in the Food City 500 in Support of Steve Byrnes and Stand Up To Cancer NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway Sunday ended with a 15th-place finish.

“We had a very eventful day,” Busch said. “I don’t even know how to describe it. This is a good sign. We had good long-run speed, and that is the most positive thing to take from the last couple of weeks where we didn’t have that long-run speed. I think we found some good things in our Haas Automation Chevrolet.”

FIVE CHEVROLET SS DRIVERS EARN TOP TEN STARTING SPOTS AT BRISTOL

eerefvvcBRISTOL, Tenn. – (April 17, 2015) – Kevin Harvick led the way for Team Chevy in his No. 4 Jimmy John’s/Budweiser Chevrolet SS at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) during qualifying for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. His lap of 14.966 seconds (128.211 mph) was fast enough to earn him the fourth starting spot for the Food City 500 in Support of Steve Byrnes, Round 8 on the 2015 circuit. This is Harvick’s fifth top-five start of the season.

More Feast, Less Famine

rgbdfgdfKANNAPOLIS, N.C., (April 15, 2015) – In his 30 career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at Bristol Motor Speedway dating back to 1999, Tony Stewart has endured a feast-or-famine existence at the half-mile, high-banked oval in eastern Tennessee.

The feasting has come in the form of a pole, a win, four top-threes, seven top-fives, nine top-10s and a total of 1,355 laps led. The famine has been nine finishes outside the top-25, oftentimes after a dominant run was derailed.

Busch Finishes 14th at Martinsville

rtttryKurt Busch, driver of the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), finished 14th in the Martinsville 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Sunday at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

Busch started the race from the 26th position but was able to make passes early and often throughout the 500-lap race, despite struggling with handling issues that at times saw his Haas Automation Chevrolet loose entering the corners, tight in the center and loose on exit. He raced his way to the lead on lap 134, and he held the point for 21 laps before fading as his handling woes worsened.
