Shaw out battles Griffith & Kruzcek for Seacoast 100 Victory
Lee, NH – The showers predicted by the weather forecast on Friday never came to Lee as drivers suited up for the Seacoast 100. DJ Shaw of Center Conway, NH started on the pole with Jeremy Davis of Tamworth, NH on the outside of the 21-car field. This week saw the addition of new competitors adding to the already tough competition in the Granite State Pro Stock Series.
Shaw took the lead early, however throughout the night he had competition from Hudson native Derek Griffith, Davis, and Bryan Kruczek of Newmarket, NH. The caution flag flew early in the evening on lap nine for Cory Casagrande of Stafford Springs, CT. Then shortly after, the pack checked up and Mike Parks of Walpole, NH ruined his newly replaced nose, creating an uphill battle for him the rest of the night.

DJ Shaw pulled off top ten finishes in a double header of competitive races on Memorial Day weekend behind the wheel of his #60 Precision JLM machine. Kicking off the weekend with his first Granite State Pro Stocks start of the season at Monadnock Speedway and then traveling to the historic Thunder Road International Speedbowl with the Pro All Stars Series tour.
In the Granite State Pro Stocks event, Shaw took off from the pole position and won handily over the field in the heat race. After the redraw, Shaw would find himself starting in the third position in for the 100 lap feature event. Managing his car and tires early on, Shaw began to make moves around the races halfway point, as he fought with Mike O’ Sullivan for the third position. On lap 61, the two leaders made contact and spun, handing Sullivan and Shaw the top two positions after a caution flag. Through the races final laps, Shaw charged hard to get by O’ Sullivan but it wasn’t enough as he took the runner up position in the Rydemore 100.

Winchester, N.H. – The Rydemore 100 at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H. started as a steamy one, with temperatures reaching the mid ninety’s. Guy Caron of Lempster, N.H. found himself on the pole with Mike Mitchell of Cumberland, R.I. on the outside. Barry Gray who finished second last week was looking to get his first win of the year starting in the sixth position. Ultimately, it was Mike O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA. in victory lane.
Caron took the lead early in the race and led until lap 61 when he and Gray made contact on the backstretch, and Caron, spun bringing out the first caution of the night. This put O’Sullivan and DJ Shaw of Center Conway, N.H. up front. Glenn Martel of Belmont, NH was the Lucky Dog, winning his lap back and putting him on the road to a fifth place finish.
By lap 65 Mike Parks of Walpole, N.H. had worked his way up to third after starting 12th. The 71 NH of Cory Robert in sixth place, fended off the Caron and Gray for over a dozen laps, until lap 89 when contact was made with Gray.

Barre, Vermont – Glen Luce of Turner, Maine claimed an emotional victory Sunday afternoon in the Mekkelsen RV 150 for Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models at Thunder Road international Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont.
Luce, coming off his best-ever season racing stock cars – a season that included a $31,000-plus win in the 42nd Annual Oxford 250 last August – took the lead from and then held off a longtime ACT Tour rival, Wayne Helliwell, Jr., of Dover, New Hampshire.
Helliwell, a multi-time ACT Late Model Tour champion, chased Luce under the checkered flag, earning his runner-up finish the hard way after starting dead last in the quick Super Late Model field. Travis Benjamin of Morrill, Maine nailed down a third-place finish.

Barre, VT – Tyler Cahoon made his first career Thunder Road Late Model win count on Sunday, May 29, holding off a late charge from Scott Dragon for the victory in the 54th Annual Mekkelsen Memorial Day Classic.
The Danville veteran took the lead from Matt White on lap 6 of the 100-lap event, just prior to the second and final caution for Brian Tarbell’s hard encounter with the turn one wall. Cahoon pulled out to a big lead in the middle stages, but had to fend off Dragon in the closing laps to secure the win. The former Street Stock Champion became the third driver in the last four years to score his first Thunder Road Late Model victory in the event.
Dragon settled for second, followed by former Memorial Day Classic winner Jason Corliss in third. Trampas Demers took fourth, while Nick Sweet made a late charge to finish fifth. Brooks Clark, John Donahue, Kyle Pembroke, White, and Cody Blake rounded out the top-10.

NAPLES, ME (May 25) – After a thrilling debut last year, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models are set to return to Vermont’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl this Sunday afternoon at 1:30 PM. In addition to 150 laps for New England’s fastest racers, the 54th Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic will feature 100 laps for Thunder Road’s ACT Late Models, plus the PASS Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Tigers.
Center Conway, NH’s DJ Shaw has had a solid start to the 2016 PASS North season, currently sitting second in points on the strength of a win in the Southern Maine Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. While Shaw is happy with his results so far, the 2014 PASS North champion believes he and his team can be even better.
