Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., finished 10th in the Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., on Thursday, July 12. Hoar started deep in the 30-car field after qualifying for the main event through the B-feature, pitted later than most leaders in the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge and emerged with the Top-10 finish. It was the first time Hoar had raced on the banked quarter-mile track since a traction compound was added to the outside groove.

Pole-Sitter Brad Keselowski Takes Checkers in F.W. Webb 200

He passes Harvick late and pulls away for first NHMS Nationwide win

LOUDON, N.H. (July 14, 2012) – Brad Keselowski saw an opening and he took it. While Kevin Harvick was struggling with lap traffic, Keselowski raced past him to the outside of Turn 2 with 21 laps to go and never looked back en route to winning the F.W. Webb 200 Nationwide Series race on Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

It was a clean sweep for Keselowski, who took the pole earlier in the day – his third straight Nationwide Series pole at “The Magic Mile.” It was Keselowski’s 19th victory in 182 Nationwide races, which ranks 15th on the all-time series wins list.

Mike Stefanik is Silky Smooth on Final Lap, Wins Town Fair Tire 100

Modified vet beats Silk in second-closest finish ever at NHMS

LOUDON, N.H. (July 14, 2012) – That’s going to be a tough act to follow. The Whelen Modified Series put on a show at New Hampshire Motor Speedway today, as Mike Stefanik beat Ronnie Silk to the Granite Stripe by three one-thousandths of a second to win the Town Fair Tire 100.

The first race of three at NHMS on Saturday, Silk passed Stefanik going into the final turn, but a small bump exiting Turn 4 by Stefanik allowed the 22-year Modified veteran to pass the current points leader to win the second-closest finish in speedway history. Chuck Hossfeld held off by Ted Christopher by one one-thousandth of a second back in June of 2008.

THOMPSON, Conn. – Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, New Brunswick, finished sixth in the PASS North Series California Paints 75 at Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, Conn., on Thursday, July 12. Sommerville started inside the Top-10 and started moving toward the front in the second half of the race, at one point getting involved in a spirited four-car battle for the lead. The Mulkern Racing No. 48 A.E. McKay Builders Chevrolet was up to fourth-place on the race’s final restart with eight laps remaining when the car in front of him missed a shift coming to the green flag, dropping Sommerville back to sixth.

Ron Silk Takes Second Straight Whelen Modified Tour Pole at NHMS

Defending champion to start out front in Saturday’s Town Fair Tire 100

Ronnie Silk took the pole and the checkers the last time the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He’ll try to do the same this weekend after taking the pole in Friday’s qualifying for the Town Fair Tire 100 on Saturday.

Silk’s time of 29.492 seconds (129.147 mph) was nearly fourth-tenths of a second faster than Ryan Preece, who will start on the outside of Row 1 on Saturday. Doug Coby, Eric Berndt and Sprint Cup regular Ryan Newman round out the top five qualifiers.
