Oxford, ME – DJ Shaw and the #60 Precision JLM team returned to Oxford Plains Speedway this past weekend for the start of the new Pro All Stars Series North season. After driving what Shaw described early in the day as an ill handling car, he put on an epic show with the “Maine Racing Legend,” Mike Rowe for the win, and started the season with a strong second place effort.
“We weren’t good enough on the short runs there at the end,” Shaw recounted of his effort, “I feel like we had the better car, but getting to Mike and passing him are two different things. He earned this one and after the struggles we had in practice with this new car I’m really happy with the second place run.” (more…)

Claremont, NH – Derek Griffith, the young, talented Pro-Stock driver from New Hampshire will be making his Claremont Speedway debut this Friday, April 24th as the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) makes its return to the 1/3 mile facility for 125 green flag laps.
Formally known as Twin State Speedway, Claremont is under new ownership for 2015 and is ready to set the stage for what should be an exciting event.
Griffith will be entering Claremont not knowing anything about the race track, “I don’t think I’ve ever been there, maybe when I was a little kid but I can’t remember” remarked Derek.
“This will be exciting for our MOM’s of Manchester/LCM Racing crew as Louie [Crew Chief Louie Mechalides] doesn’t even have any set-up sheets for Claremont. I think it’ll be a learning experience, that’s for sure. “ (more…)

Eddie MacDonald powered the Grimm Construction/Multiple Sclerosis Society Chevrolet to a hard earned sixth place finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Pittlite 125 at Bristol Motor Speedway as a companion race with the Sprint Cup Series. The Rowley, Mass. veteran started his 183rd race in the series and took the green flag as the defending champion of last year’s event. A flat tire on lap 49 appeared to quash any hopes of repeating the win but Eddie Mac and the crew never gave up and rallied from the flat and 24th restarting position to make his patented charge to the front.
“With everything that we had to overcome in the race, we are pleased with the sixth place finish,” said Eddie Mac after the race. “Obviously we would have liked to compete for the win but this finish showed how we can overcome adversity. We had a very similar set-up in the car as last year and the car handled pretty good. We didn’t have a great qualifying run (16th) but last year we started 13th and won so we knew the car would be good for the long run.” (more…)

151ST career main event win for Hall of Famer tops busy racing card
Oxford, ME – Mike Rowe of Turner, Maine raced to his 151st Oxford Plains Speedway main event win, earning a trip to victory lane in his maiden voyage aboard Peter Petit’s lucky number 7 in AIM Recycling Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model competition at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday afternoon, while Joey ‘Pole’ Polewarczyk prevailed in the co-headlining ACT Late Model Tour 150-lapper.
Rowe, a 64-year-old veteran, multi-time track champion and all-around legend at the speedway where he was a track titlist a full four decades ago, waged a race-long battle with reigning series champion DJ Shaw of Conway, New Hampshire for supremacy in a thrilling 150-lapper for the ultra-quick AIM Super Late Models. A promising start for Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), in the Food City 500 in Support of Steve Byrnes and Stand Up To Cancer NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway Sunday ended with a 15th-place finish.
“We had a very eventful day,” Busch said. “I don’t even know how to describe it. This is a good sign. We had good long-run speed, and that is the most positive thing to take from the last couple of weeks where we didn’t have that long-run speed. I think we found some good things in our Haas Automation Chevrolet.”

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Jimmy John’s/Budweiser Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), finished 38th in the Food City 500 in Support of Steve Byrnes and Stand Up To Cancer NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Sunday night at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. Harvick once again looked to be the driver to beat, leading a race-high 184 laps. A midrace accident, however, spoiled his chances for victory and ended his streak of 11 top-10 finishes dating back to last November at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.
Harvick started the race in fourth place and wasted no time making his bid for the lead, taking over the top spot on lap six. He led a total of 16 laps before the racing action came to a halt for rain. After a red-flag period that lasted nearly four hours, racing resumed with Harvick picking up right where he left off, surrendering the lead only a couple of times during the next several circuits around the .533-mile oval.
