Patnode Wins Victor Johnson Memorial at Monadnock

VMRSWinchester, NH, — Your first win is always special but Todd Patnode made his extra special when he won the Valenti Modified Racing Series sanctioned ‘Victor Johnson Memorial 100’ Saturday night at Monadnock Speedway. Johnson, a local racer and occasional VMRS competitor died two years ago in a house fire.

Patnode, of Richmond, NH, became the second driver in two days to win their first series race. Richard Savary, of Canton, MA, scored his first 48 hours earlier at Thompson, CT.

In the early going Max Zachem, of Preston, CT, shot into the lead from his outside pole starting position, took command of the race until passed by Peter Jarvis of Ascutney, VT, on lap 44. Zachem reclaimed the lead four laps later and held the top position until passed this time by Dwight Jarvis, of Ascutney, on lap 79.

Savary Wins First VMRS Race At Thompson

Thompson, CT. – Richard Savary, of Canton, MA, won his first Valenti Modified Racing Series event Thursday night, August 22, with an impressive run in the 75-lap feature race

Savary, who started 15th in a 21-car lineup, chased race leader Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, PA, for five laps before passing Pennink on lap 72 to go on to victory.

It was a special win for the second-generation driver who has won races in other divisions at Thompson but this was his first score in a full-blown modified.

Valenti Modified Series Prepares For Twin Bill

VMRSCanaan, NH. – Two races in two days. Thanks to Mother Nature.
What was to be the second of three races for the Valenti Modified Racing Series at Thompson CT Speedway, Thursday’s August 22 event will now be the fifth attempt by speedway management to conduct a feature race for the series in 2013.

Rain-washed out the initial program on May 19 following the completion of qualifying races. Three subsequent dates have been washed out since. Thompson and VMRS management hope to finally put an event in the record books Thursday.

Last year’s race winner Ted Christopher, of Plainville, CT, will attempt to make it two in a row.

Two-time series champion Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT, is expected to enter the program. Louie Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, MA, Jeff Rocco, of Meriden, CT, and point leader Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, PA, are expected.

Home Sweet Home For Annarummo at Seekonk

VMRSSeekonk, MA – Long-time racer Vinnie Annarummo once declared in victory lane following a Valenti Modified Racing Series win, “This Is My Home.” Son Todd showed Saturday night he could also lay claim that Seekonk Speedway is his home turf too. The Swansea, MA, driver nabbed his first victory of the season winning the ‘Valenti Auto Group 100’ at the historic Massachusetts oval. The victory was Annarummo’s second series win.

Annarummo started fourth in a 24-car field, moved into third in the early going behind leaders Rob Goodenough, of Swanzey, NH, and Richard Savary, of Canton, MA, then took the top spot from Savary on lap 31.

Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT, chased the leader, Savary took his turn for 38-laps, then a hard charging Steven Masse, of Bellingham, MA, tried his best to the checkered flag. Masse lead lap-88 only to be passed by a more dominant Annarummo.

Seekonk Awaits Valenti Modified Racing Series Saturday

VMRSCanaan, NH. – The Valenti Modified Racing Series heads to Seekonk Speedway, Seekonk, MA., on Saturday, August 17, the next stop on the series 10th anniversary tour. The season long heated battle for the series championship continues and a strong field of cars is expected at the famed oval.

Since the start of the season, the point’s battle has been the best ever and with eight races remaining on the series schedule; it’s promises to get better.

Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, PA, currently the series point leader, headlines the list of entries for Saturday’s 100-lap green flag race.

Pennink leads Tommy Barrett Jr, of Millis, Ma., by a mere 4-points heading to Seekonk. Pennink and Barrett will be two drivers’ fans can expect to be chasing the checkered flag.

Rocco Rocks At Waterford; Scores Second VMRS Win

Waterford, CT. – Meriden, CT’s, Keith Rocco drove to victory Saturday night, August 10, winning the 100-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series feature at Waterford Speedbowl, Waterford. CT.

The win was Rocco’s second VMRS victory in 10 starts. His first was two years ago at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Rocco started fifth in a 26-car field, took the lead on lap eight from Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT., and was never headed. Rocco twice developed full straightaway leads only to be slowed by caution flags for minor spins or crashes.

Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, PA., made another late race charge from his 17th starting spot to finish runner-up.

Pasteryak enjoyed another strong third place finish. The two-time series champion never ran outside the top five.

Tommy Barrett, of Millis, MA, and 40-year veteran Dwight Jarvis, of Ascutney, VT, rounded out the top five finish. Barrett started sixth, and Jarvis came from 20th.
