Brent Dragon Wins Series ACT Castrol Riverside 100
St-Croix, QC – Milton, Vermont’s Brent Dragon dominates the Series ACT Castrol Riverside 100 stock car race at Riverside Speedway in St-Croix, QC. Dragon made the trek up north after finding out the Nutmeg State make-up scheduled at Waterford Speedbowl was cancelled. After taking the initial green in the 12th position, Dragon worked his way through the field to take the lead from Daniel Descoste on lap 23. Donald Theetge and Sylvain Lacombe both pressured Dragon late in the race but to no avail.
Patrick Hamel came from the ninth starting position to finish in the runner-up position followed by Martin Lacombe, Sylvain Lacombe and Eric St-Gelais rounding out the top five. Trampas Demers finished sixth and was chased to the line by Jean-François Déry, Patrick Laperle, Donald Theetge and Pier-Luc Ouellette rounding out the top ten.
Dragon is the tenth driver to qualify for the American-Canadian Tour Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 19th. Five have qualified by winning Series ACT Castrol events and five have qualified by winning ACT Tour events.
The race was slowed by nine cautions, one caused by a brief rain shower, and 17 cars finished on the lead lap. The Series ACT Castrol have next weekend off and will be back at Autodrome Montmagny on July 4th. Dragon will be at White Mountain Motorsports Park next weekend with the ACT Tour on July 27th.

Ryan Hayes Picks Up First Career Win at Wiscasset Raceway!
Wiscasset, ME- Ryan Hayes is a busy kid. Not only does he have the hectic life of a 17 year old Erskine Academy Senior but the Jefferson, ME resident is also hard at work becoming an Eagle Scout, playing varsity basketball and being on the track team. Oh yeah and by the way, he is also busy racing in the U.S. Cellular Mini Track division at Wiscasset Raceway where he picked up his first career feature victory Saturday night on Ray Haskell Ford night at the center of speed. Ryan started on the pole and led every lap of the 15 lap event, holding off Russ Anderson of Portsmith, NH and Gray’s Kevin Oliver for the win. Anderson and Oliver would finish second and third respectively while Josh Hajula and Bruce Oren rounded out the top five.
In the Aable Auto Parts Mini Stock division Waldoboro’s Ryan Ripley was able to overcome lapped traffic and a lot of pressure from Thomas True to get the feature victory. True would finish second and Mike Mason would get his first Wiscasset Raceway trophy finishing in the third spot. Mike Wilson took home fourth in his first trip to Wiscasset this year and Pete McCollet would finish fifth after coming from the back of the pack after a racing incident with point leader Kevin Douglass.
The New England Transmission’s Strictly Street division saw a new face in victory lane this year. Litchfield’s Wally Henderson got his first win at Wiscasset Raceway this year. The win was Wally’s first in six years. The win did not come easy for the veteran driver though as he had to hold off point leader Mike Moody over the closing laps. Moody would finish second with Mike Hodgkin’s driving for Maurice Young Motorsports taking home third. Wally’s son Jamie Henderson would end up fourth with Ian Bresnehan fifth.
Your Verizon Wireless Super Street division had current point leader Shawn Austin picking up the checkered flag. About half a straightway back from him Jeremy Glasier of Appleton held of Josh St.Clair to take home second. Allan Moeller Jr. would get fourth with Jason Gaboury settling for the fifth position.
The Clark’s Car Crushing Pro Stock’s put on a great show. Scott Moore and Jeff Burgess ran side by side for about twenty laps before the two tangled coming into turn one. With the caution period lasting a long time and the rain starting to come down track officials decided to call the race. Charlie Colby would end up getting the feature win. Youngster Dave Farrington turned in his best career finish coming home second. Third would go to Joe Creamer. Moore would end up fourth with Scott King in fifth.

OXFORD, Maine – The same, old Mini Stock domination by Justin Karkos and a fresh, new Late Model winner highlighted Saturday night at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Karkos cruised to victory by a margin of more than nine seconds in the Subway 100 main event.
He was forced to share the spotlight, however, with 18-year-old Nick Brown, who became one of the youngest headline division feature winners in OPS history with his 40-lap triumph.
Mike Short (Strictly Stock), Jim Davis Jr. (Outlaw) and Cathy Manchester (Ladies) also scored victories.
Karkos drove around former division champion Dan Morris on lap 36 and set sail from the second-place battle between Morris, Jimmy Childs and Ashley Marshall.
With no caution flags to slow his progress over the second half of the event, Karkos’ only threat was slower traffic. He calmly slowed his pace just enough over the final 20 laps to steer clear and still finish a half-lap ahead of runner-up Childs.
It was the third win in the last four weeks for Karkos, who has led at least one lap in five of the first six races after winning seven times in 2008.
“That was fun. I think we put on a show,” said Karkos, who bowed to the crowd Kyle Busch-style with his pit crew at the start-finish line.
Ashley Marshall made a late-race move around Morris to claim third, with Jake Burns edging Shane Kaherl for fifth. Kaherl was the last driver on the lead lap.
Brown missed a race late last month to attend his senior prom at Morse High School. Mercifully, graduation ceremonies were last Sunday, preventing the second-year Late Model racer from having to skip a second Saturday night.
He wouldn’t have wanted to miss this one for the world. Brown snagged the lead from Ron Charpentier Jr. on a restart shortly before the halfway point and survived another resumption with 10 laps to go for the breakthrough victory.
“You can’t imagine the smile on my face right now. I can’t believe I’m even out here after all those years of watching up there (in the grandstands),” said Brown, who was a multi-time champion in Oxford’s JARRacing Photography Go Kart Series in his early teens.
Shawn Knight matched his Late Model career-best second place in controversial fashion, as contact from his front bumper sent mentor and runner-up Tim Brackett for a spin with under two laps remaining.
The two drivers typically park side-by-side in the OPS garage.
“I feel terrible, and I hope he’ll understand,” Knight said. “I was having to hold the car in gear on that last green-flag run and steer it with one hand, and unfortunately that’s what happened. I think I had enough car to get to the outside and fight for the win without that problem.”
Kenny Harrison held off four-time champion Travis Adams by a fender for third, with Shawn Martin fifth.
Short earned a measure of vindication for last week, when he was disqualified from a Strictly Stock win after the post-race inspection.
This time, he dominated the final 21 laps to snag his second official victory in three weeks by a wide margin over Tommy Tompkins.
Larry Emerson hopped the curb to miss a wild scramble in the final turn to claim third, less than a foot in front of reigning champion Skip Tripp. Tripp’s team scrambled to get the car ready in time for the feature after a crash at the end of his qualifying race.
Davis won his third straight Outlaw start, backing up consecutive triumphs in the Wednesday night Acceleration Series.
David Childs (second) and Chris Burgess (third) whittled Davis’ dominant early lead to nothing but fell a car length shy.
“My set-up wasn’t real hot tonight,” said Davis. “I got out to a pretty big lead, and all of a sudden I saw those guys coming and said I’d better step it up.”
Twenty-three cars started the caution-free Outlaw scramble, with Guy Childs and Jerry Goss rounding out the top five.
Manchester led all 20 laps of the Ladies tangle, matching second-place Dottie Patria and third-place Vanna Brackett in the wins category with her second of the season.
“Starting up front was a stroke of good luck,” said Manchester. “I love it when Dottie and I finish one-two.”
Patria, the defending Ladies champion, secured that status by passing Brackett to the outside in the final corner.

Mike Ramsey wins Wildcat 50 lap special event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.
Scarborough,Maine- Mike Ramsey used a late race caution flag to his advantage and captured the annual 50 lap race for the Wildcat division on Saturday night. D.J. Shaw, Bobby Nadeau and Matt Dow also shared victory lane on this fog filled evening of racing.
Shawn Gilpatrick jumped into the lead at the wave of the green flag for the 50 lap Wildcat race. Gilpatrick would soon go under attack from Gary Babineau as the 2 leaders started a side by side duel for the lead at lap 9. Babineau went in front on the 10th trip around the oval but Gilpatrick still had the inside lane.
Gilpatrick poked his nose back in front on lap 15 and then Babineau went back in front 1 lap later as Gilpatrick wiggled exiting turn 4. Babineau was now in cruise control opening up a comfortable lead as the race appeared to be headed to a green-to-checkered run. The complexion of the race changed when the caution flag waved on lap 46 setting up a Babineau- Mike Ramsey front row restart.
Coming to the green flag, Ramsey got a quicker start and took the lead from
Babineau but it was not over yet. Ramsey was driving hard and washing up in the corners and Babineau was trying to get to the inside as they swapped paint and bumps for the final 4 laps until Ramsey got to the finish a half car length in front for the win. Babineau was second with Darin Kilton third, Gilpatrick fourth and Dan Bean fifth.
D.J. Shaw won for the first time at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Saturday night taking a dominating victory. Walt Pugsley led for the first 14 laps until Dan McKeage took over on lap 14 following a restart. McKeage would stay in front until lap 20 when Shaw went to the inside and took over. Once in front Shaw pulled away from the field in commanding fashion despite having to start the race at the rear of the field.
Bill Rodgers finished second with McKeage third. Bub Bilodeau and Jay Sands were fourth and fifth at the finish.
Bobby Nadeau passed Frank Wear 21 laps into the 35 lap Sport Series race and went on for his first checkered flag of the season. The race was slowed 5 times by the caution flag and despite the field staying bunched up Nadeau was able to cruise into the win. Wear finished second and Doug Wolfe third. Russ Morse was fourth and Dalton Gagnon fifth at the end of the 35 lap run.
Matt Dow rounded out the evening of winners as he took down the 20 lap Road Runner feature race honors. Dow took over the lead on lap 3 and was chased to all the way from that point to the finish by Shawn Brackett. Point leader Ray Letellier was third with Clayton Loubier fourth. Ed Connolly rounded out the top 5 finishers.

Dennis Demers Victorious on Harvest Equipment Night
Barre, VT – Veteran driver Dennis Demers of Shelburne, VT takes home the win on Harvest Equipment Night’s stock car event at Thunder Road International Speedbowl. Demers took the green on the outside pole and battled another veteran, Robbie Crouch during the early stages of the 50 lap feature. Crouch fought off third place finisher Phil Scott for the runner-up position. Joey Becker and Trampas Demers rounded out the top five, while Brooks Clark, Jean-Paul Cyr, Grant Folsom, Matt White, and Eric Chase finished in the top ten.
Sophmore driver Mike Ziter from Williamstown captured his second career win in the NAPA Tiger Sportsman after Ricky Roberts’ car shutdown on a green-white-checker finish. Bobby Therrien inherited second while Tony Rossi finished third. Derrick O’Donnell came home fourth followed by David Finck. Joey Roberts, James Hebert, Matt Potter, Joey Laquerre, and Joel Hodgdon round out the top ten.
East Haven’s Michael Moore survived a wild finish in the Allen Lumber Street Stocks/Powershift Junkyard Warriors Main Event to claim the win. He was chased to the line by Tim Campbell, Joe Blais, Gary Bashaw, and Bunker Hodgdon. Donnie Yates was the lone Powershift Junkyard Warrior to make the Main and therefore took home top finishing Junkyard Warrior Honors.
Hardwick’s Greg Adams scored his second Reserve victory in a row on Harvest Equipment Night. Rookie driver Jamie Davis came home second followed by Shawn Cook.

Uncasville, Conn. (June 19, 2009): NASCAR Camping World Series East Champions are made at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. A finish there can make or break your chances at a title. For Matt Kobyluck, driver of the No. 40 Mohegan Sun Casino Chevrolet and defending series champion, the Heluva Good! Summer 125 holds a lot of weight. He’s currently third in the point standings, and is hoping to move up the ladder with a strong performance at the 1.058-mile oval.
“I’m pretty confident,” Kobyluck said going into the event. “We’ll be taking the same things we used last year and building on them a little bit more. We definitely go into every race with the goal of winning, but a win here would be tremendous. We’ve always had fast cars here and we’ve been getting closer and closer to our goal of winning every time we go back.”
The 39-year-old driver posted a third place finish in this event last year, which catapulted him to second in the point standings. The Mohegan Sun Casino Chevrolet was out front for the first 35 laps. He led one more time before a three-wide battle with Trevor Bayne and Eddie MacDonald relegated him to third for a green-white-checker finish.
“We didn’t take tires last year and the guys that finished ahead of us both did. They were on fresher tires so I had nothing for them on the last restart,” reflected Kobyluck. “A third place finish was a huge day for us in terms of the championship. If you want to win the title in this series, you have to have a good day at New Hampshire.”
Kobyluck has more experience at the track than most regular drivers in the series. The Heluva Good Summer 125 will mark his 26th start at NHMS in the Camping World Series East with over 2500 laps raced in competition at the Magic Mile. He’s posted five top-five and eight top-10 finishes there – with two top-five’s last season alone.
The Heluva Good Summer 125 is slated to take the green flag at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 26th. Fans can meet up with Kobyluck at an autograph session outside the infield tunnel on Friday at 3 p.m.
