BEAR RIDGE SPEEDWAY: Bear Ridge Speedway Honors 45th Anniversary Season Champions

FAIRLEE, VT – Bear Ridge Speedway honored the champions from its 45th Anniversary Season of dirt track stock car racing on Saturday, December 2. More than 370 drivers, crew members, sponsors, fans, and officials filled a sold-out banquet hall at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, VT for the gala, and more than $25,000 in prizes and point fund purses was awarded.

Adam Pierson of East Corinth, VT headlined the guest list as the Bond Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Champion. Pierson, 28, collected his eighth title in just 12 years of racing at Bear Ridge Speedway. Pierson posted two wins and 14 top-five finishes in 19 races for his third consecutive Modified crown. Pierson Seals Bear Ridge Title With New England Dirt Track Championships Win
Birthday boy Chaffee sweeps Modified and Midget races for second time in 2012

BRADFORD, VT – Modified stock car driver Adam Pierson saved his best for last at Bear Ridge Speedway, winning the third annual New England Dirt Track Championships and clinching the track’s 99ROCK Weekly Racing Series title in the process. Pierson, of Fairlee, VT, made it back-to-back wins in the track’s biggest event of the year to wrap up his third consecutive Bond Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman Modified track championship and eighth overall.

The make-up events for the New England Dirt Track Championships presented by Perry Oil Service and 99ROCK – previously postponed by rain on September 22 – opened the card, with Pierson running from 14th starting position to his second victory of the season in the 50-lap special. Bryan King of Corinth, VT survived a torrid battle with Devil’s Bowl Speedway regular and former Bear Ridge champion Vince Quenneville, Jr., of Brandon, VT, with King taking the runner-up spot by a bumper.

Two big shows in one to end 45th racing season on Saturday

Bear Ridge Speedway’s 45th stock car racing season ends with a bang on Saturday with a double-bill for the 99ROCK Weekly Racing Series. The final three races of the third annual New England Dirt Track Championships presented by Perry Oil Service and 99ROCK, postponed one week by rain, will kick off the first-ever Vermont Crate Motor Nationals event. Racing begins at early start time of 5:00pm.

Twenty-six Bond Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman Modified cars were on hand for qualifying heats at the New England Dirt Track Championships on Saturday, September 22 before heavy rain washed out the 50-lap, double-points main event. Fairlee, VT racers Adam Pierson and Kevin Chaffee are just 43 points apart for the Modified title; Pierson is trying for his third-straight and eighth overall Bear Ridge championship, while Chaffee guns for his first Modified title.

Big End-of-Season Events Coming to Bear Ridge Speedway

3rd annual New England Dirt Track Championships on Sept. 22

Bear Ridge Speedway will host back-to-back headline events to close out its 45th anniversary dirt track stock car racing season. The third annual New England Dirt Track Championships presented by Perry Oil Service and 99ROCK will be held on Saturday, September 22, and a special event has been added on Saturday, September 29, presented by Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank.

The double-points New England Dirt Track Championships on September 22 will feature a special 50-lap, $750-to-win race for the Bond Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds. Multi-time champions Chris Donnelly of Piermont, NH and Adam Pierson of Fairlee, VT won the first two editions in 2010 and 2011; they’ll be challenged by Kevin Chaffee, Justin Comes, Jason Gray, Derek Graham, Gary Siemons, and many others.

Bear Ridge Speedway celebrated its 45th anniversary dirt track stock car racing season in style on Sabil & Sons Towing Night on Saturday with hard-nosed racing, exciting finishes, and a major milestone for one of the country’s most well-respected short track race teams.

Lyndon State College student Jason Gray of East Thetford, VT ran to his second Bond Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman Modified win of the season with a spirited charge in the second half of the special 45-lap main event. Gray’s No. 00 C.W. Gray & Sons Auctioneers, Inc.-sponsored Bicknell car ran from eighth place on a lap 22 restart to take the lead from Fairlee, VT’s Adam Pierson with five laps remaining. Pierson and fellow Fairlee resident Kevin Chaffee, the top-two point leaders, engaged in a battle for the runner-up spot, which took Chaffee took on the outside lane.

Donnelly wins against record-tying 25-car Modified field

BRADFORD, VT – Tyler Rich and Jeremy Beckley highlighted a jam-packed list of dirt track stock car winners on Swenson Insurance Night in the 99ROCK Weekly Racing Series at Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday. Rich won the 25-lap WYKR Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) feature for his first win of 2012, and Beckley’s long-awaited Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupe win was the first of his career. More than 120 race teams filled the pit area.

Rich started sixth on the 17-car SCoNE and wasted little time in getting to the front. The Pike, NH racer, who was the series’ Rookie of the Year last season, moved past former series champion Mark Cole into the lead on lap 8, then survived a restart with eight laps remaining for his second career win. Clay Dow of Barnstead, NH – the 2011 SCoNE Triple Crown series champion – finished second, with defending SCoNE overall champion Dan Douville of Bridgewater, NH third. Chris Donnelly, pulling double duty in Sprint Cars and Modifieds, drove from 15th starting position to finish fourth, and Jake Williams fifth.
