The battle was then on for second and third place with the 12 of Adam Whitney driving around Rose in the 11R and taking over second place moving Rose to third. Then Jeff Horn in the 1R, who had started sixth, joined in the fight for position and by lap five took over third from Rose. As the checkered flag was displayed it was Champagne, who dominated the heat race, taking the win with the 12 of Adam Whitney in second followed by the 1R of Jeff Horn for third. BRADFORD, VT – The “super moon” of the night helped to provide plenty of wild action for the fans on our John Poor Memorial night sponsored by Walker Motor Sales Saturday August 9, 2014.

Chris Donnelly the current points leader in the DIRTcar Bond Auto Sportsman Modifieds seemed to be in a bit of a funk of late, but the full moon mojo pushed that funk away. Mike Dunn appeared to be having his best performance of the season leading the 31 of the 40 laps. Dunn would succumb to Ed Patterson and eventually slip back to fourth before the checkers waived. Paterson’s time at the point was short lived as Donnelly took away the lead with six to go and cruised on to his fifth win of season from his eighteenth starting position. Patterson was able to hold onto second, not allowing Gary Siemons who ending up advancing one position to finish in victory lane in third his fourth visit to the lane this season. Robert Tucker and Bryan King completed the top five.

USAC Dirt Midget Association
Race at Vermont’s Bear Ridge Speedway

Ellington, CT: In what was the biggest race of the year for the USAC Dirt Midget Association it was only fitting that driver Adam Pierson win the race that was in honor of his past mechanic. In total twenty one teams came to Bear Ridge Speedway to compete but only nineteen took the green flag in the feature.

For heat race one the 78 driven by Stanley Otterman was to be on pole but mechanical issues prevented him from starting so the 11R of Alex Rose was awarded the pole for this heat race. Once the green flag came out it did not take long before the 11V of Vincent Lucca took the lead with the 76X of Jeff Champagne moving into second and the pole sitter 11R of Rose was now in third place. Just before the half way point, Amanda Habel in the 09 spun which brought out the caution and grouped the field back together. The race went back to green but was brought back under caution in two laps as the 09 of Habel spun. Back to green with the 11V of Lucca charging out front and holding the lead. On lap six the 24T of Tom Thompson went off track but kept running and back onto the track without any issues. As the checkered flag flew it would be Lucca in the 11V taking down the heat race win. The 76X of Champagne was to have finished second but was moved back to fourth for jumping the restart on the last caution. With that change it now moved the 11R of Rose to second and Dylan Rock in the 49 to third. Champagne was driving for Frank Manafort Racing this night in the number 76X Elliott Beveridge Memorial tribute USAC midget.

Thomas Placey in the DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes and Hunter Garduno in the Hornets claim their 2nd wins.

BRADFORD, VT – Two rookies make it to victory lane in the DIRTcar Bond Auto Sportsman Modifieds, as Forward comes home with the win and his best finish of the season, and DJ Robinson finishes third with his second victory lane appearance of the season on Perry Oil Service night.

Tyler Austin and DJ Robinson brought the full field of cars to the green for their 40 lap main event Saturday Perry Oil Service night. Austin would be unable to hold on to his prime starting position as the laps ticked off. Robinson on the other hand was able to hold off most of the challenges he encountered leading the first half of the race. He would find himself having to give up his pole position to Rookie TC Forward. Forward who worked his way from mid pack to the front found himself right where he has wanted to be all season as the laps ticked off, in no other position but first. Jason Gray coming from deep in the pack worked his way to second place, the only veteran driver in victory lane. Robinson was able to hold on for third when the checkers finally waved. Josh Currier and points leader Donnelly completed the top five.
