WEST HAVEN, VT – The summer Friday night stock car racing season will draw to a close with a jam-packed program full of family friendly entertainment at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Friday, August 23 at 7:00pm. Sugar & Spice Restaurant of Mendon, VT presents double features for four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series classes, the rescheduled Spectator Races for fans driving street-legal vehicles, and the highly-anticipated second annual Great North American Pancake Eating Championship.

The Great North American Pancake Eating Championship will see racing’s hungriest fans devour as many pancakes slathered in real Vermont maple syrup from Sugar & Spice Restaurant as they can in five minutes. Inaugural winner Allen Jones of Rutland, VT pounded down a gut-busting ten-and-a-half pancakes in 2012 and said last week that he has been preparing all summer for a second-straight victory.

Masterson, Bergeron take Late Model thrillers; LaVair wins Mini Stock special

WEST HAVEN, VT – NASCAR Whelen All-American Series drivers Jessey Mueller and Joey Roberts highlighted an exciting night of stock car racing at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Friday, August 16, splitting victories in twin 25-lap features on Brown’s Quarried Slate/Brown’s Orchard & Farm Stand Night. Feature winners also included Josh Masterson, Chris Bergeron, Chris LaVair, Eric “Mongo” Messier, and event sponsor Charlie Brown.

Eighteen year-old Mueller, of Olmstedville, NY, posted his third win of the season in the opening event for the Bond Auto Parts Modified division. Mueller started 11th on the grid and patiently made his way through traffic to enter the top five at lap 15. He took second place from Cody Sargen at lap 20, just before a multi-car crash blocked the track and brought out the red flag.

DEVIL’S BOWL SPEEDWAY: Double Features, Enduro “Slated” for Brown’s Event at Devil’s Bowl Speedway

IMG_3812WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil’s Bowl Speedway will make up for Mother Nature’s recent interference with double feature races for its NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car divisions at Brown’s Quarried Slate/Brown’s Orchard & Farm Stand Night on Friday, August 16. In order to help drivers and race fans make up for lost ground due to rainouts, twin races have been scheduled for the Bond Auto Parts Modified and Late Model divisions, while the Central Vermont Motorcycles Mini Stocks will run a three-segment special event postponed by last week’s rain.

Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT has built a remarkable record of seven Modified victories in 11 feature events in 2013 and retains the championship point lead entering the Brown’s event. Young guns Hunter Bates and Jessey Mueller are grouped tightly together with veterans Vince Quenneville, Jr., and Ron Proctor as they all chase Stone down.

Interstate All Battery Center Night rained out at Devil’s Bowl Speedway

Northern Modified Challenge Series at Canaan, NH still on for Sunday

WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil’s Bowl Speedway will suffer another cancellation on Friday, August 9, as heavy rains and a forecast that includes possible flooding in the West Haven, VT area have wiped out Interstate All Battery Center of Rutland Night presented by Green Mountain Water Environment Association.

The event was scheduled to include NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing for the Bond Auto Parts Modified, Late Model, Renegade, and Central Vermont Motorcycles Mini Stock divisions, as well as kids’ racecar rides and Spectator Racing. No rescheduling announcements have been made to date.

The Northern Modified Challenge Series, a new five-race championship sanctioned by Devil’s Bowl Speedway management, will make its maiden voyage to New Hampshire’s Canaan Fair Speedway on Sunday, August 11 for the Subway Fresh Fit 50. Racing begins at 1:30pm.

NORTHERN MODIFIED CHALLENGE SERIES: Youth and Experience top Northern Modified Challenge Series entering Canaan

Teenager Mueller and veteran Gonyo sit 1-2 in standings

CANAAN, NH – An equal mix of youth and experience lead the all-new Northern Modified Challenge Series stock car tour to Canaan Fair Speedway on Sunday, August 11. Eighteen year-old Jessey Mueller has a small six-point advantage on Leon Gonyo – a veteran of five decades of racing – entering the Subway Fresh Fit 50. The event is round three of the five-race championship sanctioned by Devil’s Bowl Speedway management.

The Canaan event will be the first experience at the fast 1/3-mile New Hampshire oval for most of the Northern Modified Challenge Series drivers. Mueller, of Olmstedville, NY, has a history of success at new tracks; he won the NMCS opener at Thunder Road (VT) Speedbowl in his first start there in May and also won a special event in his first trip to Stafford (CT) Motor Speedway in 2012. Gonyo, of Chazy, NY has accumulated championships and dozens of victories at several tracks since the early 1970s.

The pair finished 1-2 in the first-ever NMCS race at Thunder Road on Memorial Day, and were second and third, respectively, behind winner Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT in the C.J. Richards Memorial at Devil’s Bowl Speedway last week. Mueller has 106 points to Gonyo’s 100 entering Canaan. Hunter Bates of Middlebury, VT is third with 92 points, Vince Quenneville, Jr., of Brandon, VT is fourth at 88 points, and Joe Williams of Scotia, NY sits fifth at 86 points. Stone’s Devil’s Bowl win moved him up to sixth place.
