Recent Devil’s Bowl Speedway Win Has Team Ready For 100-lap Event

Brian Hoar left Devil’s Bowl Speedway last weekend in a completely different frame of mind than he did when he last visited the half-mile Vermont oval in mid-May.

Hoar won the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model feature event at Devil’s Bowl on Friday night, his final tuneup before the I Am Vermont Strong 100 at the track this weekend. It’s the second race in the four-race Vermont State Championship Series being contested this season between Devil’s Bowl and Thunder Road International Speedbowl.

Vermont State Late Model Championship Series event features fundraiser for 2011 flood victims

Devil’s Bowl Speedway celebrates the Green Mountain State on Friday as the Vermont State Championship Series for Late Model stock cars invades the West Haven half-mile oval for a 100-lap event. The home-track heroes of the weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series J&S Steel Late Model division will square off against invaders from Barre’s Thunder Road and around the northeast.

While the 100-lap Vermont State Late Model Championship Series race will be the focal point for many, Devil’s Bowl Speedway is calling on the community to help its own during a fundraiser to benefit the “I Am Vermont Strong” initiative. I Am Vermont Strong is a non-profit organization that raises relief funds for Vermonters affected by flood damage in storms in 2011 including Tropical Storm Irene.

Ron Proctor Scores Again in Carrara Race at Devil’s Bowl Speedway

Brian Hoar beats 24-car Late Model field; Keith and Germain take wins

Ron Proctor and Brian Hoar each made a big statement on Carrara Masonry & Concrete Night presented by Mobil 1 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Friday night. Proctor came from 11th starting position to grab the Bond Auto Parts Modified victory for the second week in a row, while Hoar beat the largest weekly field of J&S Steel Late Models in the track’s history.

Proctor, of Charlton, NY, scored a dominant win in the 35-lap Modified feature. The defending track champion took the lead at lap 20 and cruised out front to the win. The race ended in bizarre fashion, as Proctor had taken the white flag on the final lap just before a crash involving Paul Braymer drew the yellow flag. Because Proctor had taken the while flag as the leader under race conditions, the race was deemed official. Hunter Bates of Middlebury, VT held off a hard-charging Vince Quenneville, Jr., of Brandon, VT for the runner-up position. Jessey Mueller of Olmstedville, NY recovered from a mid-race spin to finish fourth, and Leon Gonyo of Chazy, NY was fifth.

Proctor Holds Devil’s Bowl Point Lead Entering Carrara Masonry Event

Bushey tops Late Models, Renegade leaders deadlocked

Defending NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car racing champion Ron Proctor finds himself atop the Devil’s Bowl Speedway point standings for the first time in 2012 entering Friday’s Carrara Masonry & Concrete Night presented by Mobil 1. The Charlton, NY veteran used a stellar double-feature performance to vault ahead of Jessey Mueller at last week’s People’s United Bank Memorial Day Special.

Proctor’s victory and runner-up finishes in twin 20-lap races came at the right time, as previous leaders Jessey Mueller and Vince Quenneville, Jr., suffered their worst showings of the season in the crash-marred second feature. Proctor now leads Brandon, VT driver Quenneville by 26 points (253-227), while Mueller is part of a three-way tie for third with Alex Bell and rookie Joey Roberts, each with 222 points through the first five feature events.
