Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) will make its first ever appearance at the fast ½ mile Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT this Sunday afternoon. The 38th running of the Spring Green 111 is expecting to have over 30 teams converge on the scenic, newly paved speed plant, built and operated by the Richards family since 1967. The inaugural event one year ago opened the renovated semi-banked progressive track with the Thunder Road ACT Late Models. The battle between local favorite Mike Bruno from nearby Rutland and former Thunder Road Champion David Pembroke was a classic 100-lap battle seen by a full house and a very enthusiastic crowd.

Don Miller Named Vermont Motorsports Magazine Driver of the Year
Devil’s Bowl champion edges Thunder Road’s Sweet in online vote
SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT – Stock car racing champion Don Miller has been named the Vermont Motorsports Magazine 2010 Driver of the Year by readers of www.vtmotormag.com.
Nearly 24,000 votes were cast across ten categories in a two-week online poll at the Vermont Motorsports Magazine website. Wells, Vt., driver Miller earned 22% of the vote in the overall VMM 2010 Driver of the Year category. The Sportsman Modified track champion at West Haven’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway edged Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl track champion Nick Sweet of Barre by just two percentage points for the award.
Adam Pierson of Fairlee finished third with 12% of the vote after his Sportsman Modified championship at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, and American-Canadian Tour champion Brian Hoar of Williston was fourth overall with 10% of the vote. Josh Sunn of White River Junction, Dan Eastman of Thetford Center, Brandon’s Don Scarborough, Kenny Tremont, Jr., of West Sand Lake, N.Y., and Mendon’s Chris Wilk were also on the ballot.

Dragon Breaks In New Devil’s Bowl; Sets Sights On Thunder Road Return
MILTON, Vt. — Brent Dragon gave the new Devil’s Bowl Speedway rave reviews over the weekend and then set his sights on an old, familiar foe.
Dragon finished 4th in the first-ever Late Model race held on Devil’s Bowl’s brand new asphalt surface on Sunday afternoon during an off-weekend for the ACT Late Model Tour. Next up for Dragon is a return trip to Thunder Road International Speedbowl this weekend for the non-points Memorial Day Classic 100 on the tight quarter-mile.

Pembroke Wins at Devils Bowl
West Haven, VT – Montpelier’s Dave Pembroke took the win in the Thunder Road Late Models 100 lap event at the freshly paved Devils Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT on Sunday, May 23. Pembroke battled side-by-side with hometown favorite Mike Bruno of Rutland, VT for the majority of the race, which was the season opener for Devils Bowl and also the opening event in the Thunder Road Late Models 2010 championship campaign.
Pembroke took the lead on lap 14 after starting in the 3rd position before swapping the lead with Bruno, who started 7th for the remainder of the event. Pembroke broke away from Bruno several times while working through lap traffic but Bruno reeled him in each time, but didn’t have enough to complete the pass. Pembroke and Bruno were followed to the line by pole-sitter Tracie Bellerose, Brent Dragon and Joey Becker completing the top five. Senator Phil Scott, Nick Sweet, Mike Bailey, Tony Andrews, and rookie Chris Riendeau rounded out the top ten.
