Takes First USAC DMA Win at Bear Ridge Speedway

BRADFORD, VT – After finishing second in all three of his previous USAC Dirt Midget Association starts, ‘The Fairlee Flier,” Kevin Chaffee of Fairlee, VT finally grabbed the brass ring with a win at Bear Ridge Speedway Saturday. The former Sportsman Coupe track champion started ninth and played the role of the crayfish, scuttling his way around the bottom of the race track enroute to victory lane in the 20 lap event.

USAC DMA Results Bear Ridge Speedway 08-06-11

BRADFORD, VT…… After three runner-up finishes this season, ‘The Fairlee Flier” Kevin Chaffee of Fairlee, VT won the 20 lap USAC Dirt Midget Association at Bear Ridge Speedway Saturday. A former track champion in Sportsman Coupe division, Chaffee is in his rookie year in a midget. Second place finisher Scott Holcomb of Granby, CT started tenth and third place finisher Jeff Horn of Hudson, NH had to come from the tail end after being caught up in a mid-race incident. Ray Miller and Tim Gallant completed the top five.

Chip Grenier Takes First Win of the Season on Safelite Night

Barre, VT – Graniteville’s Chip Grenier claimed his first win of the 2011 season on Safelite Auto Glass Night at Thunder Road on Thursday, August 4. Grenier started on the outside pole, but had a hard battle with Joey Becker and then Grant Folsom during four restarts in the 50 lap event.

After the final restart on lap 34, Grenier and Folsom broke away from the field. Nick Sweet worked his way to third, while Trampas Demers came from the 16th starting position to take fourth with Becker in fifth. Cris Michaud, co-point leader Dave Pembroke, rookie Jimmy Hebert, Matt White and Derek Ming completed the top ten.

Grenier nabs first win of 2011 at Thunder Road

BARRE, Vt. — All summer long, he charged through the field and ran among the leaders on several occasions. Yet each week, he came up just short. This time around, he finally had what it took to seal the deal.

Chip Grenier managed to fend off the challenges of Grant Folsom and powered his way to victory in the 50-lap Safelite Auto Trophy Dash Thursday night at the famed Thunder Road International Speedbowl. (more…)

Battle between Donahue and Pembroke revs up this week

BARRE, Vt. — The season-long battle for supremacy between Thunder Road mainstays John Donahue and David Pembroke gets intense this Thursday, as the two central Vermont drivers sit tied atop the standings with just three points races remaining.

Donahue, of Graniteville (who didn’t even start racing until he was 26, hence his car number), got his 2011 season off to a great start back in May with a victory in the Memorial Day Classic. He carried that momentum into summer with a victory in the prestigious Vermont Governor’s Cup in June, then added a 50-lap weekly feature win on July 21.
