Joe Steffen Takes Bond/WIX Tiger Tour 100 Win at Thunder Road
Barre, VT – Essex Junction’s “Double O” Joe Steffen won the second event on the Bond/WIX Tiger Tour at Thunder Road on Thursday, July 1. Steffen came from the sixth starting position to take the lead after a lap 43 restart. He would hold off the rest of the field through three more cautions and lead the rest of the way.
Milton’s Eric Badore and Georgia, Vermont’s Joey Roberts battled for the runner-up position during the final laps. Badore took second while Roberts settled for third. Jason Bonnett took fourth and Tony Rossi rounded out the top five. Chip Grenier, Tom Therrien, Mike Billado, Tucker Williams, and David Finck completed the top ten.
The 100 lap event took just over one hour and eighteen minutes to complete with a total of nine cautions and three lead changes among three drivers.
Northfield’s Matt White earned his third career Thunder Road Late Model win in the 50 lap feature. He took the lead from Doug Murphy on the final restart of the race and held off Rich Lowrey who had to settle for second. John Donahue earned third followed by Brooks Clark and Joey Becker rounding out the top five. Nick Sweet, Dave Pembroke, Phil Scott, Mike Bailey and Jamie Fisher completed the top ten.

Nick Sweet Claims Carquest Governor’s Cup
Barre, VT – Barre’s Nick Sweet claims his second Thunder Road win of 2010 in the Carquest Governor’s Cup 100 on Friday, June 25. Sweet took the lead from the pole and battled with Montpelier’s Dave Pembroke throughout the 100 lap event. The two would swap the lead twelve times before Sweet got to the front for good on lap 94.
Pembroke would have to settle for third after Jamie Fisher got by in the closing laps. Senator Phil Scott claimed his third straight top five with a fourth followed by Mike Bailey in fifth. Eric Williams came from 19th to finish sixth while ACT Tour Rookie of the Year contender Austin Theriault climbed from 21st to finish seventh. Matt White, John Donahue and Rich Lowrey rounded out the top ten.

Barre, VT – Northfield’s Tony Andrews claimed his third career Thunder Road Late Model win on the final Sunday twilight special sponsored by Harvest Equipment on Sunday, June 20. Andrews led the 50 lap event flag to flag but not without pressure from Grant Folsom and Senator Phil Scott after a restart with just 6 laps remaining.
Scott would settle for second and Folsom took third followed by Dave Whitcomb and Joey Becker rounding out the top five. John Donahue, Dave Pembroke, Reno Gervais, Nick Sweet and Cris Michaud completed the top ten.

Senator Phil Scott Rebounds with Win at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement”
Barre, VT – Montpelier’s Senator Phil Scott led flag to flag in the Late Model 50 lap feature at Thunder Road during Sunday’s (June 13) Ferguson Waterworks twilight special. Scott rebounded from a wreck on Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day weekend, in which he couldn’t complete the 100 lap distance. It was the 26th career Thunder Road Late Model win for Scott who holds the record over Cris Michaud and Dave Pembroke who each have 15 wins.
The Senator was chased to the line by Jamie Fisher who barely edged out Cris Michaud by a fraction of a second at the line. 2010 Memorial Day Champion Dave Pembroke took fourth followed by 2010 Merchants Bank 150 Champion Nick Sweet rounding out the top five. Rich Lowrey finished sixth followed by Reno Gervais, Jerry Lesage, Joey Laquerre and Tracie Bellerose completing the top ten. Bellerose came from dead last on the 24 car field after being involved in a wreck in her heat race. The feature event saw just two cautions for minor spins.

Thunder Road Special Sunday Twilight Event
Barre, VT – Stars of Barre’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl will continue their 2010 stock car championship run this Sunday, June 13 with a special Ferguson Waterworks twilight event. Kids will get their chance to ride the Barre highbanks with their favorite Thunder Road drivers including the 2010 Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic Champion Dave Pembroke, 2010 Merchants Banks 150 winner Nick Sweet, as well as former “Kings of the Road” Senator Phil Scott and Cris Michaud.
Montpelier’s Pembroke will look to make it an extraordinary three straight Thunder Road feature wins after taking checkers in the Thunder Road Late Model 100 at Devils Bowl Speedway and the Memorial Day Classic at Thunder Road. But he will have to hold off the likes of Barre’s Nick Sweet who dominated the 2010 Merchants Bank 150 and appeared to be a contender on Memorial Day before spinning out while fighting for the lead. Tom Therrien Wins Bond/WIX Tiger Tour at White Mountain
North Woodstock, NH – Hinesburg’s Tom Therrien earned the first win on the 2010 Bond/WIX Tiger Tour at White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, June 5. Therrien started in 17th and didn’t take the lead until lap 83, when he got by the 2009 Thunder Road Champion Jimmy Hebert. Therrien would hold off Hebert in a three lap sprint setup by a caution on lap 97. Therrien took the checkers just infront of Hebert in second and his brother Bobby Therrien in third. Hebert had led the majority of the race after the early leader Tony Rossi spun on lap 33.
Thunder Road Late Model star Dave Pembroke finished fourth followed by Jason Bonnett rounding out the top five. ACT Late Model Tour regular Chip Genier took sixth, Joey Roberts seventh, Mike Ziter eighth, Derrick O’Donnell ninth and Eric Badore completed the top ten.
