Gray snaps Giguere’s unbeaten streak in the Limited Late Models

BRADFORD, VT –Chris Donnelly once again used the topside to roll to victory in the Bond Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds during 99ROCK Weekly Racing Series action on Perry Oil service Night at Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday. The veteran racer, who started 21st in the 22 car field used numerous early race cautions to his advantage and blasted into the lead on lap 28 of the 40 lap affair. Rookies Derek Barker and Adam Gage waged a torrid battle up front which continued for the runner up spot for the remainder of the race. Barker would come home second with current point leader Kevin Chaffee making a last lap pass for third. Gage was fourth and Tim Hodge completed the top five.

USAC Dirt Midget action found Adam Pierson in victory lane again in an absolutely dominating performance. Pierson, who rode the rim to front in only ten laps from his 14th starting spot, steadily pulled away after taking the lead and took the victory by over four seconds. Former Champion Joe Krawiec had his best run of the season to finish second with Tim Gallant third, Scott Holcomb fourth and early leader Rookie Dylan Duhaime fifth.

Helliwell Holds off Field, Beats Rain for Devil’s Bowl Threepeat

ACT American Canadian TourStone, Bushey, LaVair grab repeat victories

WEST HAVEN, VT – American-Canadian Tour stock car driver Wayne Helliwell, Jr., captured an historic victory at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, July 28, taking his third consecutive win at the West Haven, VT track in the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 150 presented by Cat Country 105.3 FM. Todd Stone, rookie Brad Bushey, and Chris LaVair also picked up NASCAR Whelen All-American Series wins at the event.

Helliwell, of Dover, NH, outlasted a race-long fight with Ray Parent. The pair traded the lead eight times during the 150-lap race, which was halted twice for rain including for 23 minutes with 93 laps complete. After the race resumed, Parent, of Tiverton, RI, was running second with just four laps remaining when his engine sputtered, out of fuel. Helliwell pulled away for the win after the final restart to earn the two-race ACT sweep at Devil’s Bowl in 2013, having won the Spring Green 113 in May; he also won the Spring Green in 2012 to make it three-straight wins at the track.

Travis Stearns, a rookie from Auburn, ME, picked up where Parent left off, earning a career-best runner-up finish. Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., of Hudson, NH finished third, followed by Glen Luce of Turner, ME, and rookie Bobby Therrien of Hinesburg, VT, Ben Lynch of Huntersville, NC, and Jimmy Hebert of Williamstown, VT.

Brooks Clark Cashes in on Times Argus Double Points Night

(Credit Alan Ward)Barre, VT – Brooks Clark of Fayston won the Times Argus 75-lap Late Model main event on Mid-Season Championship double-points night at Thunder Road despite losing a half-track lead with eight laps to go because of the race’s lone caution.

Clark took the lead for keeps on lap 33. On the restart, he had 16 year-old Joey Laquerre, who drove a courageous race, on his outside with Brett Gervais and rookie point leader Derrick O’Donnell of North Haverhill, NH in row two, ahead of Kyle Pembroke and Nick Sweet.

Clark got a quick jump on Laquerre and immediately took the A. W. Clark Jr. & Son No. 68 to the rim of the race track. The win was Clark’s second of the season. He thanked his team for rebuilding his car after a hard crash Sunday in the ACT International 500 at Airborne Speedway. “It’s been a long week for my crew,” he said.

O’Donnell overtook Laquerre on the final lap to finish second and maintain his spot atop the Late Model standings. Nick Sweet, who started 19th, finished 4th at Laquerre’s rear spoiler. Kyle Pembroke of Montpelier was 5th.

Polewarczyk Carries Hot Streak to Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday

WEST HAVEN, VT – One of America’s hottest short track stock car drivers is headed for Vermont’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, July 28. Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., the 24 year-old star from Hudson, NH, will try to continue building on his unprecedented string of success as the American-Canadian Tour Late Models return for the inaugural St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 150 presented by Cat Country 105.3.

The driver known as “Joey Pole” won the first-ever ACT International 500 at Airborne Speedway on Sunday, July 21, pocketing more than $30,000 for his win. The victory was his fourth in the last five ACT races dating back to June 15 – a streak that has garnered some national attention.

Northern Modified Challenge Series Returns with Richards Memorial at Devil’s Bowl

Canaan Fair Speedway event rescheduled for Sunday, August 11

WEST HAVEN, VT – The second chapter of the inaugural Northern Modified Challenge Series stock car season is about to be written at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The first-year touring series will make its maiden voyage at its home track on Friday, August 2 with the Carrara Masonry & Concrete “C.J. Richards Memorial 67” event. Racing begins at 7:00pm.

The Northern Modified Challenge Series is a five-race touring championship for center-seat, dirt-style, open-wheel Modified racecars on both asphalt and dirt race tracks in the northeast. Jessey Mueller of Olmstedville, NY made history by winning the first Challenge event on Memorial Day at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT.
