Vermont State Late Model Championship Series Returns to Devil’s Bowl, Thunder Road
Four-race series pits each track’s best head-to-head
WEST HAVEN, VT – Vermont’s stock car civil war isn’t over. The Vermont State Late Model Championship Series will return for a second-straight year in 2013, pitting the best Late Model drivers and teams in the region against each other in a four-race shootout at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT and Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT.
With two events each at the high-speed Devil’s Bowl half-mile and the high-banked Thunder Road quarter-mile bullring, race teams will be put to the test in extra-distance events to crown a champion. The series opens on Sunday, May 26 at Thunder Road with the 51st annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic 100, followed by a 100-lap tilt at Devil’s Bowl on Friday, June 7. The series moves back to Barre on Thursday, July 11 with the Vermont Lottery Commission Governor’s Cup 150 before concluding in Rutland County at Devil’s Bowl’s Vermont 200 Weekend on Sunday, September 15. BRADFORD, VT – Bear Ridge Speedway is nearly ready to usher in its 46th consecutive season on Saturday, May 4th, and if early registrations are any indication, the opening night field will eclipse last years record setting numbers. Once again improvements are underway to help accommodate the competitors and fans for the double points opening night, sponsored by KDD NAPA of Bradford.
Most of the six divisions in the 99ROCK Weekly Racing Series have once again seen healthy growth. There are a number of rookie teams and some returning veterans in the Bond Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds and the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes. Prestigious ACT event and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series kick off schedule
WEST HAVEN, VT – Spring in Vermont is a beautiful time of year. New flowers bloom in the meadows, birds chirp away, and the aroma of fresh-cut grass hangs in the breeze. All of that will go unnoticed on Sunday, May 5, though, as the brightly-colored, loud-as-thunder, rubber-burning machines of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and the American-Canadian Tour charge into Devil’s Bowl Speedway for the 39th annual “Spring Green” stock car spectacular.
Nearly 80 drivers and race teams from around the northeast and Canada are expected to pack the pit area of the Rutland County speed plant as the season opens with the historic Spring Green event. With as many as 40 roaring Late Model cars expected to attempt qualifying for the 113-lap main event – one of the American-Canadian Tour’s oldest and most prestigious races – the season definitely comes in like a lion at Devil’s Bowl. Greenwich, NY dealership to present new Granite State Pro Stock Series event on June 14
WEST HAVEN, VT – Carmody Ford has joined the growing roster of sponsorship partners at Devil’s Bowl Speedway and has agreed to present an all-new event at the West Haven, VT stock car track on Friday, June 14. The Greenwich, NY dealership will be the title sponsor of the inaugural “Carmody Ford Slate Valley 100” for the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) in the tour’s first-ever trip to a Vermont speedway.
Located at the intersection of Routes 29 and 40 in Greenwich, NY, Carmody Ford is a rapidly-expanding, full-line dealer of new and pre-owned Ford cars, trucks, and SUVs. Devil’s Bowl Modifieds To Make Thunder Road Debut
Dirt-style Modifieds to run at Memorial Day Classic
BARRE, VT – The ground-pounding Bond Auto Parts Modified stock car division from Devil’s Bowl Speedway will be hitting “The Road” this year – Thunder Road International Speedbowl, that is. The legendary Barre, VT bullring has invited the dirt-style, center-seat Modifieds to compete in a 50-lap event during the 51st Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, May 26 at 1:30pm.
The site of the famous People’s United Bank Milk Bowl, Thunder Road has hosted a variety of open-wheel events throughout its history, but never with the “dirt on asphalt” Modified rules package that has been so popular at Devil’s Bowl in recent years. The race will be held as a companion event to the traditional 100-lap Late Model event at the Memorial Day Classic, along with Thunder Road’s regular Tiger Sportsman and Street Stock divisions.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway drivers are excited about the creation of the Thunder Road event. Two-time defending Devil’s Bowl champion Ron Proctor will make the long haul from Charlton, NY to compete. (more…)

Thunder Road Schedule Announced
Devil’s Bowl Dirt Modifieds To Run At Memorial Day Classic
Barre, VT– Thunder Road officials have put the final touches on the schedule for the Nation’s Site of Excitement for the 2013 season, kicking off the year with the Merchants Bank 150 on April 27th and 28th and closing out with the 51st running of the Vermont Milk Bowl on October 5/6.
The schedule will include 18 overall events at the Barre highbanks, with 14 of them counting towards the Late Model Track Title. The stars of the American Canadian Tour will start the year at the Merchants Bank 150 on April 27/28, and the chase to become the next King of the Road will begin with the 51st Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, May 26. The Devil’s Bowl Bond Auto Parts Dirt Modifieds will make their first Thunder Road appearance to run a 50-lap feature before the Late Model’s 100-lap classic. (more…)
