Lance Rabtoy Takes Renegade Win, Tucker Williams Earns Fourth Tiger Win at Thunder Road

Barre, VT – Tucker Williams of Hyde Park picked up his fourth Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen win of the season, while Lance Rabtoy of Fairfax earned the Airborne Renegade win during Thunder Road’s Triple 50s on Thursday, August 11.

Williams led the majority of the Tiger 50 lapper, while holding off rookie of the year contender Kyle Pembroke. Williams led through several restarts including one with just five laps to go. Pembroke put up a fight on the outside but eventually slid to third as Brendan Moodie took second. Scott Coburn and Dylan Payea completed the top five. Jason Allen, Eric Badore, current point leader Derrick O’Donnell, Matt Potter and Shawn Fleury completed the top ten.

Barre, VT – Mike Forsey of Westford, VT took the win in the 27th Annual M&M Beverage Enduro on Sunday, August 7. Forsey was the only driver to complete all 200 laps and claim the $3,000 top prize. He was two laps ahead of the remainder of the field. Sixty-six year old “Dipstick” Don Tofani of Plainfield, VT came home second with 198 laps complete while Mark Kline of Monson, MA took third also with 198 laps complete. (more…)

Chip Grenier Takes First Win of the Season on Safelite Night

Barre, VT – Graniteville’s Chip Grenier claimed his first win of the 2011 season on Safelite Auto Glass Night at Thunder Road on Thursday, August 4. Grenier started on the outside pole, but had a hard battle with Joey Becker and then Grant Folsom during four restarts in the 50 lap event.

After the final restart on lap 34, Grenier and Folsom broke away from the field. Nick Sweet worked his way to third, while Trampas Demers came from the 16th starting position to take fourth with Becker in fifth. Cris Michaud, co-point leader Dave Pembroke, rookie Jimmy Hebert, Matt White and Derek Ming completed the top ten.

Grenier nabs first win of 2011 at Thunder Road

BARRE, Vt. — All summer long, he charged through the field and ran among the leaders on several occasions. Yet each week, he came up just short. This time around, he finally had what it took to seal the deal.

Chip Grenier managed to fend off the challenges of Grant Folsom and powered his way to victory in the 50-lap Safelite Auto Trophy Dash Thursday night at the famed Thunder Road International Speedbowl. (more…)

Battle between Donahue and Pembroke revs up this week

BARRE, Vt. — The season-long battle for supremacy between Thunder Road mainstays John Donahue and David Pembroke gets intense this Thursday, as the two central Vermont drivers sit tied atop the standings with just three points races remaining.

Donahue, of Graniteville (who didn’t even start racing until he was 26, hence his car number), got his 2011 season off to a great start back in May with a victory in the Memorial Day Classic. He carried that momentum into summer with a victory in the prestigious Vermont Governor’s Cup in June, then added a 50-lap weekly feature win on July 21.
