NAPLES, ME (July 14) – Entries from every corner of the United States, as well as Canada, continue to make their way into the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) offices for the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250. Annually, the best attended race for both fans and participants, the HP Hood Oxford 250 will take place on August 26-28 at the legendary Oxford Plains Speedway, paying $25,000 to the winner. With additional lap leader bonus money also on the line, this year’s HP Hood Oxford 250 winner could potentially take home up to $50,000.
Several drivers have already punched their tickets to the prestigious race through the “Road To The Oxford 250” qualifying events, including this year’s Easter Bunny 150 winner, Ben Rowe, and Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Scott Farrington, and Florida’s Dalton Sargeant, each who advanced through a recent “non-winner’s” race at Oxford Plains a couple of weeks ago.

Waterbury, VT – The 2016 American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models of New England head to the famous “Cement Palace” that the Venditti family has owned and operated for over six decades. This Saturday night, July 16, a 150-lap ACT Triple Header, round two event, will be contested with the best of the ACT competitors and the weekly racers from Seekonk, Waterford Speedbowl, and Thompson Speedway. The first of the three Triple Header events was won in a run-away by Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. (Pole) at the Waterford Speedbowl in May. He also won his first race, and the last ACT race held at Seekonk, in 2007. He looks to become the spoiler in his limited schedule of 2016 events this Saturday night.
“It is a different mind-set when you are not in a title battle. Our team just has to concentrate on winning the race and not worry about the championship points. I miss the competition for winning titles, but after over a decade of chasing point standings, this is kind of fun just running for the wins. I just don’t want to upset what has turned out to be a very competitive title run for four or five teams, so that puts a little added pressure on us to try and get clear of their track action if possible,” said Pole.

Eddie MacDonald will again partner with Go Fas Racing owned by Old Orchid Beach, Maine resident Archie St. Hilaire in this Sunday’s NASCAR’s Sprint Cup New Hampshire 301 at Loudon’s New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Bentley’s Saloon of Arundel, Maine will be the primary sponsor with The Rod Father of Sanford, Maine as an associate sponsor.
For the third time in as many years Eddie Mac will pilot the #32 Bentley’s Saloon Ford at the “Magic Mile,” saying, “This is a great thrill for me to drive for Archie on my favorite track. Scarborough, Maine – Travis Benjamin of Morrill nailed down his first Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Model win of the season Tuesday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway’s Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep 150. It was the first victory for Benjamin with the Petit Motorsports team he joined this season.
Benjamin was in control both early and late in the 150-lap event, battling several competitors for position through the middle stages of the race. At the end it was hometown Scarborough racer Garrett Hall pushing Benjamin across the finish line, falling just short of claiming his third win this year on the series.
Both Hall and third-place finisher Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, New Hampshire mounted serious challenges to Benjamin’s lead, especially on restarts. Former Beech Ridge track champion Dave Farrington Jr. of Jay led a healthy portion of the race, looking like a serious threat to score his first-ever PASS triumph en route to a fourth-place finish.

On Saturday July 16 Eddie MacDonald will actually participate in three races with the first one taking place at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the K&N Pro Series East’s Granite State 70. The third event of the day is the American Canadian Tour’s second leg of the Southern New England Tripleheader 150 lap feature. Sandwiched between the two events will be the mad dash from Loudon, NH to Seekonk, Mass. in order to make the starting time for the ACT feature later that evening.
“Accomplishing this will be quite the challenge,” laughed Eddie Mac. “Our first priority is to run for the win in the K&N race. We compete in five events in this series and we really want to be competitive at our home track in the Grimm Construction Chevy. We have three wins in this series at Loudon and would like nothing better than to add another title for our owner Rob Grimm. The competition is tremendous in this series but we feel we have the car that can run up front. Last year we fished second at Dover and the year before finished second at NHMS and won at Bristol. Rollie (LaChance) knows the set up for this place so if we can get the car to handle in the turns we should be there at the end. It is only a 70 lap sprint so everyone will be going for it from the drop of the green flag. It should be a lot of fun running on my favorite track in front of all our families and fans.”

WISCASSET, MAINE – While pop culture tells us that heavy rain brings with it cats, dogs and even men, the only thing that the rain brought to Wiscasset Speedway this past Saturday night was champions. With five divisions racing against ominous rain clouds, drivers put their feet to the floor – determined to outrun Mother Nature as well as each other.
First up were the Strictly Streets competitors, who clearly came prepared with speed and strategy, trading the traditional heat race for a 30-lap feature event. Drama developed faster on the track than in a daytime soap opera. Traffic immediately 3-cars wide throughout the pack as Michael Haynes of the #67 from Livermore Falls and Brett Osmond of the #05 from Wiscasset emerge as early leaders. While Haynes and Osmond battled each other through the early laps, the familiar flash of pink from Kurt Hewin’s #55H patiently moved up through the ranks. By the seventh lap, Hewins successfully replaced Osmond in the second position and continued focused his energy on Haynes.
Halfway through the race, Maurice Young from Chelsea pulled a “Hewins,” as he steadily worked his #03 car up through the herd, while the #00, driven by Kimberly Knight, battled intense traffic from the eighth position. By lap 19, Hewins had closed the gap between himself and Haynes, while Young faced a full straightaway to overcome before he could take on the two pack leaders. When the first caution came in lap 22 after a solo spin out starring Osmond, it gave Hewins the opportunity he needed to claim his victory, followed by Young in second and Bryan Robbins, driving the #51x from Montville, in third.

No repeat winners in track’s top class after eleven events
Oxford, Maine – Curtis Gerry of Waterboro raced to his first-ever Oxford Plains Speedway Super Late Model victory Friday night, leading the entire 50-lap distance to become the eleventh different winner in eleven Budweiser Championship Series events this season.
Gerry’s closest rival as he raced under the checkered flag was Oxford Super Late Model rookie Josh Childs, scoring a career-best second-place finish in the top class after winning the Street Stock championship last year.

Barre, VT – Shawn Fleury of Middlesex led from start to finish to pick up his first victory of the season in the Thunder Road Late Models on CVMC ExpressCARE Night.
Starting on the pole, Fleury jumped into an immediate lead over rookie Marcel Gravel of Wolcott, who started on the outside of the front row. Fleury widened his margin as Gravel and veteran Dave Whitcomb of Essex Jct. battled side-by-side for second place. Gravel, who led 38 laps of last week’s feature before falling victim to handling problems late in the race, held onto second, while Whitcomb finished third.
There were no yellow flags in the 50-lap event, and the top three ran away from the rest of the field, which was bottled up behind a battle for fourth place between Jason Allen of Barre and Matt White of Northfield. Allen crossed the finish line in fourth, but was disqualified after failing post-race inspection. Phil Scott of Middlesex, Nick Sweet of Barre, Scott Dragon of Milton, Tyler Cahoon of Danville, Jason Corliss of Barre, White, and Kyle Pembroke of Montpelier rounded out the top 10.

Lee, NH – Lee USA Speedway showcased another program of weekly NASCAR Whelen All American Series action on Friday night, featuring the “Supermodified Special” with twin-25’s for the Supers, regular feature events for the LMS, Hobby Stocks, and Ironman competitors, and double features on tap for the Pure Stocks due to rain the week before. Another appearance by the Northeast Classic Lites rounded out the racing schedule for the night.
Rookie contender Dave Helliwell of Pelham, NH scored his second win of the 2016 season in the first 25-lapper for the Supers, taking the lead from Mike Murphy of Groveland, MA on lap nine, and eventually holding off a hard-charging Kyle Sawyer of Raymond to pick up the checkers with a .386 margin of victory.
Two-time 2016 winner Lance Barthelemy recovered from early-race problems to collect third pace honors, followed by Mike Spurling of Rochester, Moe Lattime of Kingston, Tilton’s Jim Lowrey, Jr., Mike Keddy of Raymond, Murphy, Jim Barker of Meredith, and Leslie Keyser of Northfield.
