NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Returns to Stafford Aug. 8 for Call Before You Dig 811 150
(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway will host the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour for the third of four visits during the 2014 season on August 8 for the Call Before You Dig 811 150. When the NWMT teams take to the track, two of the favorites have to be Bobby Santos, III and Doug Coby.
Santos and Coby have combined to win 11 of the last 18 NWMT races at Stafford dating back to the 2010 NAPA Spring Sizzler. Santos has won the Sizzler 3 times, the NAPA Fall Final twice, and the May race once, leaving him winless in the August event. Coby has won the Sizzler once, the May race twice, and the August race twice. Coby is also the defending champion of the Call Before You Dig 811 150, taking the checkered flag ahead of Donny Lia last year.
In addition to his 6 race victories at Stafford since 2010, Santos has also been the man to beat in qualifying. Santos has 6 pole positions at Stafford since 2010 and he was a former track record holder at Stafford, becoming the first driver to break the 100mph barrier at Stafford for an average lap speed. Santos’ track record time has since been bested by Ryan Preece in 2012 but Santos has established himself as a Stafford master in the previous 4 and a half seasons worth of NWMT races at the Connecticut half-mile facility.

Walpole, NH- The Granite State Pro Stock Series competitors will have one more car to beat at the Seacoast 100 at Lee USA Speedway this Friday, July 25th.
American-Canadian Tour point leader Joey Polewarczyk, JR has entered the Seacoast 100 in hopes to make it two-for-two with the GSPSS in his career.
The Hudson, NH native has one win under his belt with the GSPSS, a victory at the now closed Canaan Fair Speedway in 2013, and is looking to double that total at Lee. “We are definitely going to try and go two-for-two with the GSPSS,” says Polewarczyk, JR. “I think we will have a good car so we will see what happens. No matter where you race or what you race, it’s always tough to get a win, but we will certainly try our hardest.”
Polewarczyk, JR feels Lee is a great place to race, and that’s why he’s chosen that venue to make his return to the series. “We chose Lee because it’s very close to us and we have had success there in the past. It’s just a fun place to race, plus it’s where my racing career got started.”
Even though the driver of the Pole’s Automotive Ford Fusion has had success in many different forms, he still feels winning the Seacoast 100 will be a challenge. “Frahm is always tough, the same with Gelinas, and all those guys. It’s going to be tough to hold them off. We definitely will have to be on our game to best those guys.”
The Seacoast 100 will take place at Lee USA Speedway on Friday, July 25th. Post time for this event is 7PM, with pit gates opening at 3PM.

The New England Truck Series was in action twice this weekend, and two familiar faces celebrated in victory lane. Andy Lindeman drove to victory lane at Star Speedway in a backup truck, one race after destroying his primary truck at Waterford Speedbowl. Lindeman started inside of the second row in Saturday Night’s event at Star, and quickly challenged pole sitter Bert Ouellette for the lead. The field was slowed twice for separate incidents involving NETS point leader Duane Noll and Chris Correll. The restarts offered competitors a shot at Lindeman, but the 5 time series champion was not to be deterred. Corey Coates would sneak past Ouellette for second, with Chris Turbush and Tyler Chapman rounding out the top 5.

The time paid off, as Packard was able to drive her 9x Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels car to an overall tenth place finish in a race that saw late model drivers from both ACT and SÉRIE ACT compete for the $25,000 purse.
In practice, Packard and the team focused on getting the car race ready and ensuring that the damages from Friday night were repaired. Taking to the track for the heat, Packard started in the 6th position, and in the 10 laps drove her way to the 4th spot and securing her starting position in the race. This gave her a +2 and earned her a 9th place start in the first segment.
