KENLY, NC (July 12) – Preston Peltier survived a furious battle with Tyler Church and Jared Irvan in the Southern National 150 to claim his first Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model win in over a year Saturday night at Southern National Motorsports Park. The win was Peltier’s first since winning the 2013 Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway and pushed his PASS South career wins total to 11, tops among all drivers.
“Man, I tell ya, I just drove as hard as I could and these guys never stopped believing in me,” said Peltier after his first ever PASS South win at Southern National. “I hope he [Church] isn’t mad at me, I didn’t give him any room that’s for sure. I needed this win in a bad way and I thank Tyler for driving me clean.” (more…)

Barre, VT – Barre’s own Nick Sweet won the 35th annual Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 presented by VP Small Engine Fuel in dominant fashion at Thunder Road on Thursday, July 10. Sweet led every step of the way and lapped over half the field in the process. NASCAR star Clint Bowyer spun just after halfway in the 150-lap event and went down a lap late in the race. He finished 14th, the first car down one lap.
Two-time “King of the Road” Sweet earned the pole position with a +3 the unique Plus/Minus handicap system. Derrick O’Donnell started third on the 31 car starting field and kept Sweet insight throughout the event but couldn’t quite get to Sweet as they worked heavy lapped traffic for the majority of the event. It was Sweet’s first win of 2014 and his 12th all-time at Thunder Road.

CHARLOTTE, NC (July 9) – As summer continues to roll on, the action on the track is also heating up as the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models prepare for their 9th race of the season coming up this Saturday night at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC. Tyler Church and Cole Timm have been neck and neck in pursuit of the South’s most prestigious Super Late Model championship, each scoring a win so far this season. But, Jared Irvan, Tyler Dippel, Trevor Noles, and Brandon Setzer have consistently been finishing in the top five as of late and are keeping the championship contenders in site as they head to Southern National this weekend.
However, Church and Timm will certainly be among the cars to beat at Southern National. Church won last year’s season ending Mason Dixon Meltdown last November and was the fast qualifier when PASS visited the fast high banked speedway in May. Timm finished second to Church in the Meltdown and has placed in the top five in three of the last four PASS South events at Southern National. Those results, coupled with his recent win at South Boston Speedway, has Timm confident heading into the Southern National 150.

Jake Madore, of Arundel, picked up his first career Sport Series NASCAR Nite victory Saturday night.
Madore paced the field to the green flag, however surrendered the lead to Windham’s veteran Reggie Leeman on lap two. Leeman, who finished second the previous week, led until a caution on lap 15 which bunched the field back together.
On the ensuing restart, Madore chose the inside lane on the leaders lane choice giving Leeman the outside. Madore and Leeman battled side-by-side for multiple laps until Madore was able to edge Leeman going into the first turn.
Clyde Hennessey, of Windham, followed Madore and passed Leeman as well. Hennessey worked his way to the outisde of Madore and battled for 15 laps trying to capture the lead from Madore. Coming to the checkered flag Madore was able to beat Hennessey by a nose length and capture his first win.
In the Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep 150-lap PASS Super Late Model division, Joey Doiron, of Berwick, survived a couple of late race restarts to pick up his first victory of the year in the Pro All-Star Series touring division.

Barre, VT – The Lt. Governor of the State of Vermont, Phil Scott from Middlesex, VT, has won more races than any other driver in the history of the ACT Late Model division at Thunder Road, dating back to 1992. For over twenty years he has compiled a winning record that may never be broken.
Ironically, Phil Scott has never won the Vermont Governor’s Cup. He served the State of Vermont as a Senator from Washington County for a decade, and currently is preparing to run for a third term as Lt. Governor.
Although he has not hoisted the elusive Governor’s Cup, Scott has won just about every other major race, including two Milk Bowls (billed as the “Toughest Short Track Race in America”), the Memorial Day Classic, the Merchants Bank opening day event, and twenty-five (25) other feature events. He has won three “King of the Road” season-long track Championship titles. He also won 9 major American Canadian Tour events in a span of just four years from 1997- 2000!

The 41st Annual Oxford 250 is quickly coming upon us, as July 20th is just a couple weeks away, and the excitement and buzz about the event is at an all time high. With almost fifty cars pre-entered for the mega event, and close to seventy Super Late Models expected, the entry list reads like a Who’s Who in the racing world.
This year’s edition will feature a strong contingent from the PASS South Series as several teams will head north to try and capture the Oxford 250 winner’s trophy. Leading the way will be Preston Peltier from Concord, North Carolina. Peltier has numerous PASS South victories, and is always a threat to win the big events. Tyler Dippel from Walkill, New York has picked up victories in 2014 down south and he is ready for the challenge. The father and son team of Jay Fogleman, and Tate Fogleman will be returning to the Oxford 250 for the second consecutive year, with Jay Fogleman vowing to be a contender after last year’s podium finish. Wiscasset Speedway’s Late Model Sportsman division proved once again why it is the track’s most exciting and competitive division in 2014. Coming into the holiday weekend, the class had turned out 5 different winners in the first 5 races. That streak of different winners would continue after an action packed, and caution free, 35 lap feature. Fans packed into Maine’s fastest track on a beautiful evening for a Independence Day weekend show featuring action in Group 2 divisions, including Late Models, Strictly Streets, Thunder 4 Minis and Mini Truck. The “Flex” race of the weekend was a 100 lap Enduro. Fans also got an opportunity to meet pro fisherman Troy Garrison.
The Thunder 4 Mini’s rolled out the spotlight feature of the night with a 30 lap feature race. Wiscasset’s Ryan Chadwick took little time moving up from his 10th starting position to grab the lead just before the halfway point of the race. From there he held off late race challenges from Nate Tribbet and Cody Robbins to secure the win. For Chadwick, it was his 5th feature win in the division’s six races. He came into the weekend with a sizable lead in the point standings. Tribbet started outside the front row and would roll into victory lane 2nd. They would be joined by Cody Robbins who raced up from 9th to finish 3rd. (more…)
