Newcastle’s Charlie Colby won the 50-lap Pro Series feature event. On a late race restart, Colby battled side-by-side with Tyler King, of Livermore Falls, for five laps until he was able to edge King going into the first turn.
Mike Landry, of Oakland, paced the 22-car field to the green flag and was able to take the lead going into turn one. Landry and veteran Steve Carrier, of Saco, battled for the top spot until Carrier was able to edge Landry on lap four.
Carrier opened up his lead over Landry until a caution on lap eight bunched the field back together. On the restart, Carrier choose the outside lane and it proved successful as he was able to re-claim the lead. Carrier and Landry battled nose to tail and pulled away from the rest of the field over the short green flag run.

It was a beautiful day last Saturday at the Wiscasset Speedway. The sun was shining, and fans gathered to watch the group two division of races including Thunder 4’s, Strictly Street, Mini Trucks, and Late Model Sportsman. The flex race of the week was a New England Pro 4 Tour feature. The tour visited the track last year, and Bryan Lancaster from Skowhegan was last year’s winner
First on the track was the spotlighted race of the week, a 35 lap Strictly Street feature. Starting on the pole was the #36 of Richard Spaulding. The # 32 of Tasha Dyer, and Gerry Freve of the #39 were behind him.
Freve passed Dyer during lap two on turn one for second. Freve and Dyer battled for second. Dyer was able to claim second back after a caution during lap seven caused a restart. Dyer passed Freve on the inside of turn one when racing action resumed. Back in the pack was Corey Morgan of the #26. Morgan was weaving through lap traffic, and had moved to fourth position from his thirteenth place start by lap six. Morgan also used the caution to his advantage and passed Freve for third on the inside of the backstretch.

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt – With Mother Nature winning again this season and canceling the show at Thunder Road, Emily Packard and her 9x Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels team had a little more time to prepare the car for the American Canadian Tour race at Devil’s Bowl.
Having run the last few weeks at Devil’s Bowl the team went into this race optimistically cautious. Packard’s success in previous weeks was pushed out of her head and she was focused on the task of the day. Starting 8th in the heat and only 10 laps to work with, Packard found herself held up in traffic but finishing in 5th place. This gave her a +3, which was enough to score her the pole for the consolation race. “10 laps is not enough time to pass,” said Packard. “I found myself stuck in traffic, and was just not able to gain one more position.”

Governor’s Cup Date Changed to Thursday, July 10
Barre, VT – Thunder Road International Speedbowl announced today that NASCAR Sprint Cup star Clint Bowyer from Emporia, Kansas has asked to return for another shot at the famous high banks of Thunder Road. Bowyer raced in the 2013 Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 for the first time. His goal was to have better results than the previous “Cup” visitor, Tony Stewart, who finished 16th. “I want to tackle that ¼ mile again. I didn’t have enough time to figure out the fourth turn, but I learned a lot last year about it, and I really want to get back there–the teams and fans were fun to be around,” said Bowyer.
The original date for the VT Governor’s Cup of Thursday, June 26 has been switched to Thursday, July 10th to coincide with the NASCAR Sprint Cup event being held that weekend at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. Thursday, June 26 will now be a regular Thursday night race program.
