WEST HAVEN, VT – Emily Packard is aiming for a piece of stock car racing history at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Father’s Day. The 17 year-old junior at Union 32 High School in Montpelier, VT is off to the best start of her career and now heads to her strongest track for the American-Canadian Tour’s 101.5 The Fox “Spring Green 114” event on Sunday, June 15 at 1:30 p.m. She’ll try to become the first woman to win a Late Model event at the fast Rutland County half-mile, and just the second woman in ACT history to win.

Packard has a pair of top-five ACT finishes this season and led 115 laps at Riverside (NH) Speedway last weekend. She ranks fourth in championship standings as the season reaches its halfway point at the Spring Green. Packard has also competed in weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events at Devil’s Bowl and has finished in the top five in all three events. A third-place showing in the People’s United Bank 100 two weeks ago leaves her just one point behind leader Josh Masterson in the track’s title chase.

Mike Christopher Jr. of Wolcott claimed his fourth Wednesday night INEX Legend Cars victory of the year to lead the way. New winners on the season were Ray Reed of Norwich, winner of the Super X-Car race, and Ken Morin Jr. of Old Saybrook in the INEX Bandoleros. Christopher landed in INEX Legend Cars Victory Lane for the second consecutive week and fourth time in five Wild ‘n Wednesday events. He trailed early leader Mike Blaskey, the only other winner to date in the division on Wednesdays, and battled on the track with Joey Ternullo in a race to the front. Christopher got to Blaskey first, getting past his inside halfway through the 25-lap race. Ternullo followed suit and stayed with Christopher through a lap-23 caution flag to set the stage for a final shootout between the two. Eddie MacDonald Loses ACT Win in Tech

The joy and jubilation for Eddie MacDonald and his team, family and friends in victory lane after winning the American Canadian Tour race at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH on Saturday night were soon dashed when the victory was taken away by ACT officials for a spring rubber violation. The Freddie Peterson owned and Hancock Electric Motor Service sponsored Chevy was given an eleventh place finish despite protests from the team.

ACT officials stated the new rule this year limits to three the number of spring rubbers in the rear right spring. The #17 had four spring rubbers and was stripped of the win with Eddie Mac saying, “This is our fun car. It is not our priority. Our commitment to the K&N Series takes up most of our time so we don’t spend a lot of time working on the ACT car. We love running with the ACT drivers and have a lot of fun. We only worked on setting up Freddie’s car for two days so we didn’t have time to pour over the rule book to look for an advantage. One of the officials said we probably read the rule book very closely and I can honestly say I have never read the rule book. We were totally unaware there was a rule change for the number of rear spring rubbers you could use. Obviously it was our fault for not knowing the rule but I feel the punishment did not fit the crime. Having an extra spring rubber made absolutely no difference between winning and losing. It is a minor tuning adjustment aide worth $13.00. It did nothing for the car. The car was fast and handled great when we got going after halfway. That is why we won. I just wished they could have fined us or something but to take away a win was way too severe I think.”
