Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park’s Limited Sportsman Division Ripe with Talent
Thompson, CT- Big car counts, wheel-to-wheel racing, and edge-of your-seat excitement have long been the trademarks of Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park’s (TSMP) Limited Sportsman Division. If early registrations are any indication, those characteristics will be even more prominent in 2014. With just under two months remaining before the season-opening Icebreaker, over 40 drivers have registered.
The Division’s defending titlist, Steve Kenneway, will be returning in 2014 to compete in his Greener Blast Technologies No. 55. In 2013, the Lowell, MA native enjoyed a spectacular season, providing car owners, David and Charlie Banta, with the championship they coveted for quite some time. With that goal accomplished, Kenneway says that the focus in 2014 is on race wins. “I felt we left a little bit on the table in the winning races department to sacrifice points a few times. We put so much emphasis on winning the championship last year, that now we can just go back to racing again,” the veteran driver observed. Kenneway plainly concluded, “At this point I want to win races.”

Kart Racing Returns to Devil’s Bowl Speedway
Flat karts, Mini Cup cars to race on new paved infield track
WEST HAVEN, VT – Go-kart racing will return to Devil’s Bowl Speedway in 2014. A new structured program designed to give both children and adults a competitive racing experience will bring flat karts and full-body “Mini Cup” cars to a brand new paved 1/7-mile oval on Sunday afternoons. The kart track shares a portion of the frontstretch with the half-mile stock car track.
The new ten-event Devil’s Bowl Speedway Kart Series marks the first kart races held at the facility in more than a decade. Devil’s Bowl is working closely with officials from the Adirondack Karting Association in Ballston Spa, NY – including former Modified stock car standout Joe Williams – to keep rulebooks in line with other tracks in the area.

Easton’s Rob Richardi will be moving up from the Pro 4 Modifi8eds to the Valenti Modified Racing Series this coming season. He comes to the VMRS with some good credentials having won that tour’s championship in 2012 and the most races in three seasons. “I had this Modified for the past five years. It’s an older Troyer car with a Spafco front clip.
The Wentworth Institute grad holds a mechanical engineering degree. He attended that noted institution after graduating from Cardinal Spellman High School. He practices his workweek craft at Siemens in Canton working on the HVAC controls. His brother Dave, also of Easton, will be racing part time in a Pro SK Lite at Thompson Speedway. Druing the week Dave is a Service Manager for United Rentals in Braintree.

We heard from a good source that Tom Curley of the ACT Tour is giving serious thought about taking some of his Tour cars over to Africa. So the deal goes the African promoter is going to pick up the tab for shipping the race cars and everything else. Curley met with some southern New England racers at a restaurant in Essex County. Curley has also sold his ACT Serie that competes in Quebec and Ontario.
The American Canadian Tour and Thunder Road earned several awards in the 2013 Speed51 Awards thanks to their diehard fans. The awards included Best Promoter, Best Short Track and Best Action Photo by Thunder Road’s Alan Ward. The annual awards are voted on by fans from across the nation on the premier international stock car racing news website www.speed51.com. Speed51 follows series and tracks from all over the United States and Canada, bringing the latest news and coverage to fans unlike any other site.

PASS Opener Set To Make More History At The Legendary Greenville-Pickens Speedway
CHARLOTTE, NC (February 11) – The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) looks to embark on one of its biggest seasons yet as the series season opener approaches on March 1 at the historic Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina. The PASS National Championship Series will take center stage as the PASS South Super Late Models will be featured in the Fox Carolina 150. A strong field of PASS Pro Late Models will make their first ever trip to Greenville for 50 laps of short track excitement. And, if that was not enough, the strong weekend of racing will also include the first of three companion events with PASS for the Southeast Super Trucks.
Greenville-Pickens Speedway first began hosting stock car races in 1946 after a time in which it operated as a horse racing facility. Man-made horsepower has been the name of the game at GPS for nearly 70 years now. A track made famous by the names of former track champions that now line its walls. Names like Pearson, Earnhardt, Lindley, and Porter just to name a few.

Morin, Bonaduce notch big wins in Salamanca for East Coast Snocross, Presented by AMSOIL and Woody’s Traction Lemieux, Pilotte & Bauer qualify for ISOC Pro Final
SALAMANCA, N.Y. (Feb. 9, 2014) – Former regional champion Mathieu Morin and New Jersey veteran Jesse James Bonaduce claimed impressive victories in their respective classes Saturday, as East Coast Snocross (ECS) completed Round 6 of its 10-race 2014 schedule at the Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel.
Morin (Ingles Performance/Ski-doo), of Val-d’Or, Quebec, jumped out to an early lead in the Pro Open final, with rookie Mike Pilotte (Team Southside/Mystic Lubricants Polaris) and Wisconsin native Mike Bauer (Jess Racing/Arctic Cat) slotting into second and third. Bauer would eventually get by Pilotte for second, while points leader Danny Poirier (Ingles Performance/ski-doo) claimed third in a late-race charge. Pilotte just missed another podium in fourth, while Kevin Wallenstein (Ingles Performance/Ski-doo) completed the top five.

TV TIMES – Live broadcasts announced For UNOH Battle at the Beach

Last year’s 2013 UNOH Battle At The Beach may have been the most talked about short-track event of the season. There was plenty of action and drama as Daytona International Speedway hosted the inaugural event on its backstretch.
The UNOH Battle At The Beach is back at “The World Center of Racing” on Tuesday, Feb. 18 and again will air live on television and radio. FOX Sports 2 will broadcast live beginning at 7 p.m. ET. Motor Racing Network (MRN) will go on the air at 6:45 p.m. with its pre-show, and the broadcast will be streamed live at MRN.com and simulcast by SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90.

Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park to Showcase NWAAS in Complimentary Garages
Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) Officials announced today that, as a way to say thank you to each of the track’s four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions, they will be offering complimentary use of the garages during selected events of the 2014 season. The Sunoco Modified, Late Model, Limited Sportsman, and Mini Stock Divisions will all be in one of the garage’s 30 stalls during one of the track’s seven events.
“We are delighted to showcase our oval track competitors, who have been with us for nearly 75 years, in our brand new garage building,” said TSMP’s General Manager, Josh Vanada.
