CAR NUMBER REQUESTS FOR 2014 NOW BEING ACCEPTED AT THOMPSON

THOMPSON, CT. Thompson Speedway is accepting applications for car number renewals for the 2014 racing season. Competitors are encouraged to preserve their car number by completing the registration form and getting to the Thompson Speedway track office prior to the renewal date of January 15, 2014.

Thompson Speedway is proud to announce that, once again, there is no charge affiliated with car number renewals. Every year the track provides this service to its NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competitors so that they can begin to prepare their race cars and without the concern of having to make costly, last minute changes to the car’s number.

Competitors are urged to go to the track’s web page (www.thompsonspeedwayoval.com), click on the car number renewal link on the front page. Once they have read the instructions, the forms should be downloaded, filled out and returned to the speedway via fax, email or regular mail.

Any questions regarding car number renewal may be addressed to Russ Dowd at the Thompson track office. Race teams may call 860-923-2280 or email questions to [email protected].

Early renewal of car numbers has worked very well for many years at Thompson Speedway. Competitors have found that this easy and free service enables them to fully prepare their cars well in advance of a new season.

Theriault Hopes To Be Next Nashville Star

austin mug 2013Driver Rides BKR Momentum Into All-American 400 This Weekend

FORT KENT, Maine – Austin Theriault likes where his Brad Keselowski Racing team is at as it heads into the homestretch of the 2013 season.

Fresh off a podium finish at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway last weekend, the BKR development driver believes that momentum could pay big dividends as he enters this weekend’s Southern Super Series All-American 400 at the history Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tenn.

“I’m really looking forward to running this race,” Theriault said. “It’s one of the biggest races in the country, one of the biggest Super Late Model races that we run all year. Having two big races coming up, it’s important to make good use of the momentum we’ve built up over the last couple of months and have some success. This would be a good time to do that.”

Big November Set As PASS South Racers Look Forward To Major Events

PASS RacingCHARLOTTE, NC (October 30) – As the leaves begin to fall and temperatures become more brisk, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model teams are making final preparations for two of the biggest events of the season. First, PASS South racers will head to Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC on November 9th to race as part of the 11th Annual North-South Shootout. Then, the 2013 season will come to a close on November 23rd with a big 200 lapper at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC as part of the 8th Annual Mason Dixon Meltdown. Both races carry a great deal of prestige in the short track racing community and will feature an array of unique divisions in addition to the PASS South Super Late Models, including the Tour-type Modifieds at Caraway and Must See Xtreme Racing Sprint Cars at Southern National.

The North-South Shootout will feature a 150 lap event for the PASS South Super

Late Models on the tough .455 mile oval. The Shootout has become known as a “can’t miss” event for short track fans, particularly fans of the Modifieds. But, last year’s hard fought contest for the PASS South Super Late Models which saw current points leader Jay Fogleman hold off rising start Ross Kenseth in a thrilling finish, has fans clamoring to see more from the “Big Boys With The Bad, Fast Toys.”

Checkered Flag on the 2013 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Season

NASCAR K&N SeriesGrimes, IA – Brett Moffitt, driver of the Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) No. 11 Kobe Toyopet Toyota owned by Shigeaki Hattori, was within just 5 points of the leader in the season point standings when the team rolled into Braselton, Georgia. While they unloaded, they were confident that Crew Chief Dave McCarty and the team had brought a strong entry to the final race of the season at Road Atlanta.

The first issue that arose was an outburst from Mother Nature. Persistent rain washed out all on-track activities on Thursday, eliminating the practice and qualifying sessions. On Friday morning, the track dried slowly, and time constraints eventually allowed only one very short practice session for the teams to do a quick shake-down of the cars before the green flag waved. Moffitt made his way around the 2.54 mile road course in 87.896 seconds at an average speed of 104.032 mph, clocking the 5th quickest practice lap in the field of 25 entries.

As the teams debriefed following the short practice, Moffitt congratulated the crew on putting a great set-up under the car, and he assured them, “We’ve got this!” The team’s spirits and confidence were high, and they fully expected to be in contention all day, not just for the win, but for the season championship as well. Moffitt’s statistics are second to none. He had finished in the top 10 in all 4 of his previous road course starts, including 3 podium finishes.
