No fewer than four 2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Racing Series division titles will be decided Saturday, Sept. 14, when Monadnock Speedway hosts its final NASCAR points event of the season.
Bill Kimball, Beth Adams, Chris Davis, and Ed Lofland all lead their respective division entering the points finale, but none of them have the top prize in the bag going into Saturday’s event.
Only Super Stock ace Ed Brehio III has a lock on his division’s title; that aided by a Saturday, September 7, rainout that ensured the third generation driver the championship, while, at the same time, taking two-time defending titlist John Lavoie’s last chance at a threepeat away.

For many of the competitors on the Granite State Pro Stock Series, Saturday, September 14 will be a surreal day for them. It is the next stop on the 2013 schedule for the Granite State Pro Stocks, one that will have major point championship implications.

Jeremy Davis comes into Canaan Fair Speedway as the most recent winner there from the Granite State Pro Stocks, picking up the win on May 4th, the second event on the schedule. Lashua is the defending winner of this late summer classic, charging to the win on September 16, 2013. This time, for both of these, and many others, it’s personal.

Jesse Melberg continued to show why he is the reigning champion for 2012 by coming from the back of the pack for a convincing win, edging race leader Amy Arsenault with six laps remaining in the 25-lap feature. He clambered from tenth on a field of twelve to fourth over the first eight laps, then settled in behind points leader John Robidoux for six laps, worked on Dave Desrosiers for three laps and then another three in second before he could get around Arsenault. Melberg made it happen the hard way, going around the outside each time. Earl Curtin III, who made a late climb from fifth, moved Arsenault back just two laps later to claim third, just three tenths of a second behind. Arsenault was third in a new car, .834 back. Last Saturday at Wiscasset Speedway was a bit cloudy and overcast, but the races were completed before the rain began to fall. With the changing of the seasons, the bright lights illuminating the race track brightened earlier, and the weather cooled for some fabulous racing action. There were some new faces in Victory Lane as well. On the schedule was the group two line up of divisions: Strictly Street, Mini Trucks, Outlaw Mini, and Late Model Sportsman. The flex race of the week was a thirty lap Amsoil Nelcar Legends race.
In a quick, straightforward race, fifteen Strictly Street race cars participated in a twenty lap feature. In the pole position was Corey Morgan of the No. 26. Behind him were the No. 1 of Mike Moody and the No. 5 of Guy Childs. It was not until lap three when the top three saw a leader change. Coming out of turn four Childs attempted to pass Moody on the inside. Childs and Moody scraped together, causing Childs to spin on the front stretch. While Moody recovered, the No. 43 of Ben Erskine moved to the outside and passed Moody on the front stretch. Moody moved to third.

RAINS AGAIN CURTAIL SPEEDWAY 95 PROGRAM for September 7
For the second week in a row, rain forced Speedway 95 officials to cut the program short before all scheduled racing was completed for the night. John Kalel II of Orrington won the Dysart’s Late Model feature postponed from last week by about a foot over defending champion Andy Saunders of Ellsworth. Kalel led every lap of the event from the pole to the checkers, but Saunders made a steady run from his mid pack starting spot, putting his car in the second spot on lap 22 of the 40 lap event after a lengthy battle for the position with Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs. After finally passing Seekins, Saunders steadily gained ground on Kalel, catching him as the two to go sign was shown by the flagman, Saunders was beside Kalel when the white flag flew, but Kalel hung on to his lead and beat Saunders to the checkers by a nose. Saunders finished second with Seekins finishing third. Rookie Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington took the fourth spot with Steuben’s Brenton Parritt finishing fifth.
