The 14-year-old JR Motorsports development driver narrowly missed qualifying for the season opener at Oxford Plains Speedway two weeks ago, but he’s confident that luck will be on his side this time around. Lanpher – who is coming off a career-best qualifying effort of third at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va., last weekend with JR Motorsports – will again team with veteran NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driver and crew chief Andy Santerre for the race at Beech Ridge.

babb incarWINDHAM, Maine – Third-generation driver Bradley Babb of Windham, Maine, returns to the PASS North Series for the Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, May 4. Babb won the 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track championship in the Pro Series at Beech Ridge last season, and he’s hoping that the “home track advantage” will play in his favor this weekend. Babb won the pole for the season-opening PASS race at Oxford Plains Speedway two weeks ago and was running inside the Top-10 when he was shuffled back on a late-race restart and had to settle for a 13th-place finish. He’ll bring the same brand new Dale Shaw Race Cars chassis to the track that debuted for that Oxford race on April 21.

Points Leaders Try To Stay On Top For PASS North Return To Beech Ridge

NAPLES, ME (April 30) – Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME has long been one of the stalwarts on the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Model schedule. The facility has hosted PASS events since 2006 and provides some of the closest action seen anywhere on the circuit. And, much like the first event of the season at Oxford Plains Speedway, this weekend’s Southern Maine Motors 150 will serve as a precursor to one of the biggest races of the season, the PASS 400 weekend at Beech Ridge in September. In fact, the racing has been so competitive that in the last five PASS events at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, five different drivers have gone to victory lane. Among those drivers is Joey Doiron, who scored his first career PASS North victory in last year’s Southern Maine Motors 150. And, if last year’s races are any indication, Doiron believes there will be no substitution for a good setup.

Things are looking bright for the 2013 racing season and Canaan Fair Speedway’s in Canaan, New Hampshire. Driver entries have been pouring in for both the dirt and asphalt facilities and the car counts appear to be considerably larger than last years.

Some of the major changes for 2013 will be taking place on the NASCAR sanctioned oval as the elimination of both the Pro Stocks and Super Street classes allow a brand new Crate Modified class to come on board. Numbers in the new Mod class are certainly encouraging with numerous 2012 Canaan teams switching to the Modified class for 2013. Ken Cantlin, along with the father and son team of Walt Hammond, and Walter Hammond are just three of these drivers. Multiple drivers will be moving over to Canaan in many divisions since Twin State Speedway closed for 2013.

Biff! Bam! Pow!
By Lou Modestino

Referees may be required from now on at all NASCAR short track racing! Yet even negative attention is better than none at all for the circus that took place at Richmond when fists flew. Hey, it probably will prove to be a positive stimulus to sell tickets and increase TV ratings!

Kevin Harvick’s team made the decision to go for a complete set of tires on their final pitstop at the Richmond International Speedway and it paid off for them. Harvick only led three laps of that race as it all came down to a green, white, checker at the end. Kevin took the lead almost at the very end.It was also his first win of the season and his 20th career win.

“We didn’t know how many green, white, checkers it was going to take before the race ended. We just did what we had to do and it turned out just right for us,” said Harvick in his victory interview.
