The Lee USA Speedway will be presenting its Annual Car Show in the Lilac Mall in Rochester, NH. The show will run from Friday, March 15th through Sunday, March 17th and will feature cars from all four of the NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions competing at Lee USA Speedway on a weekly basis as well as many of the touring series that will visit the speedway over the course of the season. Lee USA’s small block supermodifieds, late model sportsman, hobby stocks, and iron man will be on display as well as representatives of the Valenti Modified Series, the Northeast Mini Stock Tour, the Northeast Midget Association(NEMA), ACT Tour and the Classic Lites.
Set-up for the Lilac Mall show will be on Thursday evening March 14 at 9 p.m. The mall will be open for viewing from 9 a.m. thru 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. thru 5 p.m. on Sunday. Lee USA Speedway officials will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday for competitors wishing to register their cars for the upcoming season or to gain any additional information they may need. Lemieux, Ellis split Pro finals in Boonville for East Coast Snocross series, Presented by AMSOIL and Woody’s Traction Wallenstein makes a clean sweep in Pro Lite
BOONVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 5, 2013) – Veteran snowmobile racers Lincoln Lemieux and Derek Ellis each won a Pro final over the weekend, as East Coast Snocross (ECS) completed Round 8 of its nine-race 2013 schedule at the Boonville-Onieda County Fairgrounds.
Lemieux (Lemieux Racing/Ski-doo), of St. Johnsbury, VT, prevailed in a battle with defending champion Danny Poirier (Bailey/Hulten Polaris) to claim Saturday’s 14-lap final. Poirier led five laps yet settled for second, while Ellis kicked off his weekend with a solid third. (more…)
The next race after the Daytona 500 is when the real NASCAR season starts, minus the hoopla and hype, and that’s when Carl Edwards’ storybook win at Phoenix broke his long 70-race drought. “I like running here and this means that we’re back. All I can say is that it was hard to stay positive after what we went through. It was just tough not to win during that long period,” exclaimed Edwards in victory lane. He went on to say, ” When I broke my cell phone today, I thought that it was going to be another bad (race) day. I’m glad I was wrong. I think that we’re really back!” Coincidentally, PIR is known for drivers breaking out of the slumps they’ve had over the years. No wonder Carl was nervous Sunday after he wrecked five race cars at Daytona.
Edwards’ victory was also the seventh win for Roush-Fenway at PIR. The driver’s crew chief, Jim Fennig, quipped, “We’re looking forward to the rest of the season!” Edwards on Fennig, “I’ve learned a lot from him. And next week’s race at Vegas will be the true test.” (more…)
THOMPSON, CT The roar of the engines will once again fill the air at the Thompson International Speedway when the track opens for the first of two pre-season practice sessions on Saturday, March 30th. Each year, the first open practice session is very important to competitors and this year it will be of particular importance to the drivers of the former Thompson Modified division.
Nearly every TIS Modified team has moved to a new division at the track and each will be faced with challenges as they adapt to new cars and drivers in a completely different class of race cars. Dirty Dozen Late Model Series: Reid Lanpher Southern Nat’l Motorsports Park Race Report
LUCAMA, N.C. – Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, posted a pair of finishes in the top half of a stout Late Model field in his debut with JR Motorsports at Southern National Motorsports Park. Lanpher, 14, finished 11th and 12th at the Dirty Dozen Twin 100s in the No. 8 JRM Chevrolet. After time-trialing for the first time in his career, Lanpher started the first 100-lap Late Model Stock event 14th in the 26-car field and worked his way into the Top-10 before settling for 11th following a final late-race restart. In the second event of the afternoon, he started 11th and fell back as far as 18th following a communication miscue on a restart but recovered to drive back up to 12th – ahead of the reigning NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion – without the benefit of getting four fresh tires following the first race, per event rules. THE STORY
FORT KENT, Maine – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, makes his 2013 PASS South Series debut in the South Carolina Clash 150 at Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, S.C., on Saturday, March 9. The driver of the Brad Keselowski Racing No. 29 Checkered Flag Foundation Ford Fusion won in his last start in a PASS-sanctioned Super Late Model race last October, when Theriault won the PASS North Series season finale at Oxford (Maine) Plains Speedway. Theriault, the BKR development driver in his second full season with the organization owned by 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski, led several laps in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Speedfest 200 at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Ga., in January before he was wrecked out of the Top-5 by another competitor in the late stages of the event. AVONDALE, Ariz. (March 3, 2013) – After starting at the rear of the 43-car field due to changing to a backup car after Friday’s qualifying accident, Kurt Busch was a driver on the move when the green flag dropped for Sunday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 Sprint Cup race.
