Oxford ME (10/15) Scott Mulkern roared from the back of a 34 car field to claim the lead and the win in Saturday’s Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North 150 at Oxford (ME) Plains Speedway. Travis Benjamin led much of the way but had to settle for the runner up spot, and DJ Shaw raced home third in the PASS North season finale, cut short at lap 118 due to rain.

Joey Pole and Brian Hoar led the field to the green and Pole jumped out front early. Hoar took over from laps 29 through 70 but Benjamin was rumbling up through the field and he wrestled the lead away from Hoar on lap 70.

PASS Champs wrap up their title runs in style with feature wins

Oxford ME (10/15) It was Champions Day at Oxford Plains Speedway for all three Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North racing series Saturday, and Andy Shaw (PASS Mods) and Carey Martin (PASS Sportsman) both claimed their respective divisions championship in style by winning their season finales.

For Shaw it was a fitting end to a dominant season. The Center Conway NH racer’s 2011 record is enviable; 10 starts, 7 wins and 9 top five finishes kept Shaw on top of the standings all season long, and moved him to the top of the PASS Mod record book as the division’s winning-est driver.

CONCORD, N.C.—Spare Matt Kenseth the toilet humor.

The driver of the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford was delighted to win Saturday night’s Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway with new sponsor Fluidmaster on his car—make that with any sponsor on his car.

In a race that saw five-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson suffer a Chase-changing accident in the final 20 laps, Kenseth pulled away from Kyle Busch and teammate Carl Edwards during a 12-lap run to the finish and notched his third victory of the season and the 21st of his career.

Thompson, CT: (October 15, 2011): A raining Friday could not dampen the spirits of fans and competitors on hand for Day #2 of the 38th Annual World Series of Speedway Racing presented by Sunoco. Following a full day of practice and qualifying, Saturday night included ten (10) feature events.

In Whelen Modified Tour Time Trials, Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT, made his debut in the Flamingo Racing #16 turning a lap at 18.634 seconds at a speed of 129.747 miles per hour to earn the Coors Light Pole Award. Doug Coby of Milford, CT, and Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT, rounded out the top three in qualifying. Championship contenders Ronnie Silk, Norwalk, CT, qualified eighth while Todd Szegedy, Ridgefield, CT, will start Sunday’s event from the fourth position. (more…)

Veteran Super Late Model Driver Snaps 7-Year Drought

OXFORD, Maine – Scott Mulkern of Falmouth, Maine, led the final 15 laps en route to his second career PASS North Series win with a victory in the season-ending PASS Championship 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday.

The race was called by rain after 118 laps. Two unsuccessful attempts were made by series officials to dry the track before the win was granted to Mulkern and the No. 84 Southern Maine Motors/Community Pharmacies Dodge.
