Barre, VT – The VP Fuels Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 for Thunder Road’s American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models takes the green this Thursday, July 9. Numerous former Thunder Road Champions and winners are expected to challenge for the victory in the special long-distance event, but Barre’s Nick Sweet will try to do one better and further cement his place in Governor’s Cup history.
Sweet has won three of the last five Vermont Governor’s Cups, including the most recent event in 2014. A fourth win on Thursday would tie Sweet with six-time ACT Pro Stock Tour Champion Robbie Crouch atop the all-time winner’s list.

WEST HAVEN, VT – Veteran stock car driver Tim LaDuc of Orwell, VT made a triumphant return to victory lane on Sunday, July 5, winning the WhistlePig Straight Rye Whiskey Independence Day Special at The Dirt Track at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. LaDuc ended a five-year victory drought and carried the checkered flag in the 50-lap Liberty Street Discount Beverage & Deli Sportsman Modified race after a race-long fight with Josh Sunn. Other winners on the night included Chris Donnelly, Dan Douville, Curtis Condon, and Jesse Durkee.

Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 14 Bass Pro Shops/Ducks Unlimited Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), finished 14th in the rain-delayed Coke Zero 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Sunday night at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
Persistent showers dampened the 2.5-mile superspeedway, pushing the race into the night by more than three hours. When the race finally did start at almost midnight, Stewart and Co. took a conservative approach to the annual Fourth of July contest.

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Jimmy John’s/Budweiser Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), finished fourth in the rain-delayed Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on Sunday night.
The reigning Sprint Cup champion started 34th and managed to race his No. 4 Chevrolet into the second position just before the halfway point of the race, which had begun nearly three hours late due to rain. Harvick ran near the front of the pack for the majority of the second half of the event and put the team in contention for the win late in the race.

Danica Patrick and the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS team for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) finished 35th in Sunday’s Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, her race cut short after cutting down a right-front tire and making contact with the wall in turn two at lap 126.
The incident was the third of the night for Patrick, who had been collected in two prior multicar accidents at lap four and lap 106. In both situations, the GoDaddy Chevrolet SS sustained damage when cars in front of Patrick wrecked and she had nowhere to go to avoid the subsequent melee.

St-Eustache, QC – Martin Goulet Jr. earned his first career Série ACT victory in style on Saturday, July 4, going pole-to-pole to win the St-Eustache 100 at Autodrome St-Eustache in Quebec.
The Mascouche, QC driver started on the pole and was never headed despite challenges from former Série ACT Champion Jean-François Déry, Jonathan Bouvrette, and point leader Dany Trépanier. Goulet eventually stretched out his winning margin in a race slowed just twice by caution. He also became the second driver in 2015 to earn the Bond Auto Parts New Champions Breakout Award.

Loudon, New Hampshire – Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Massachusetts added another page to his impressive New Hampshire Motor Speedway resume, scoring an impressive victory in the AIM 60 Pro All Stars Series race, the first-ever Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model race at the “Magic Mile.”
It was the seventh victory on the 1.058-mile oval for MacDonald, a three-time winner in NASCAR K&N East Series competition at NHMS, to go along with three race victories in ACT Invitational Late Model competition.

Barre, VT – Kyle Pembroke scored the surprise of the 2015 Thunder Road weekly season with his first career Late Model victory in the CVMC ExpressCare Trophy Dash on Sunday, July 2.
The St. Michael’s College student took the lead around the outside from veteran Shawn Fleury on lap 43 of the 50-lap event after a lengthy duel. Pembroke then pulled away in the final laps for his first win in a full-bodied stock car.

BRADFORD, VT – Three of the five events were recorded in the record books when rain descended on the track as the DIRTcar Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes were just a few laps into their main event. A huge fireworks display brought to the fans in part by Noise R Us Fireworks was set to go off after the regular racing show. A quick decision to park the Coupes and light up the skies before the rains washed out that as well was made. The rains lightened and the best fireworks show in New England was the closing excitement of the Dennis Preston Builder sponsored night.

Drivers and fans alike gathered at Maine’s fastest oval on Saturday night to celebrate the 4th of July holiday and Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of the checkered flag. Group 2 divisions were in action with Modifieds, Strictly Streets, Outlaw Minis, and Late Model Sportsman. The flex race of the night was the Amsoil Nelcar Legends. The show ended with a fireworks display for the fans.
