$5,000 to win 25th Annual M&M Beverage Enduro 250
The 25th Annual M&M Beverage Enduro 250 on August 2 will be $5,000 to win in celebration of the 50th Anniversary Season at Thunder Road International Speedbowl. This is a $3,000 increase over last year’s grand prize for “The People’s Race.” The Enduro is a no-holds-barred race where over 100 novice drivers race virtually street-legal automobiles for 250 laps.
Last year current Allen Lumber Street Stock competitor, Troy Gray of Fairlee earned a soggy $2,000 check after winning the 24th Annual M&M Beverage Enduro 200, a survival-of-the-fittest stock car race that featured a half-hour rain storm and two rollovers.

Entries will also be available at Thunder Road this Thursday, July 2. Entries filed on or before July 20 will be accepted at $50. Thunder Road is in action this Thursday, July 2 with the Pepsi Holiday Fireworks Spectacular at 6:30pm. A full card of Late Models, NAPA Tiger Sportsmen, Allen Lumber Street Stocks, and Power Shift Online Junkyard Warriors are on tap. Adult general admission is $10 for adults, $3 for children (6-12), and just $20 for a Family ticket for any two adults and two kids. Gates open at 5:00pm.
“The Nation’s Site of Excitement” will be running again this holiday weekend on Sunday, July 5 for the 50th Holiday Celebration and $5,000 worth of fireworks in 50 seconds. This will also be a regular event for Late Models, NAPA Tiger Sportsmen, Allen Lumber Street Stocks, and Power Shift Online Junkyard Warriors. Epping, NH – Veteran racer Eric Hudson collected his first NASCAR Whelen All-American Series All-Star Modified feature win of the 2009 season last Saturday night, piloting the Newmarket Sand and Gravel machine to an impressive victory.
Veteran campaigner Sumner Scott of nearby Barrington broke out to the early lead when starter Mike Walker unfurled the green flag, and Scott set the pace for the first 23 laps of the race.
A restart at that point allowed Hudson to get past for the lead, just as a major wreck broke out behind him, involving several early-race contenders.
Scott got out of shape and collected several other cars, with the front straightaway blocked by the wreckage when the smoke cleared. J.R. Baril, Todd Patnode, Dana Smith, and Bill Boudreau were among those eliminated along with Scott.
When racing resumed, Hudson had his hands full with 2009 feature winner Mike Murphy and Joe Lemay making it a three-car battle for the win, but Hudson held strong, leading them under the checkers to score the win.
Coming off his first win of the year the race before, Murphy claimed runner-up honors, with two-time winner Lemay taking home third. Bobby MacArthur picked up a fourth place finish, with Arthur Heino, Jr. rounding out the top five.
Gary Beauregard dominated the action in the Super Streets, opening up a comfortable margin on his way to win number three on the season over Steve Wilmot and Rob DeAlmeida in the John and Robin Bourdelais entry.
Keith Walton topped a strong field of Strictly Stocks to grab his second feature win of the season, outrunning Chris Augevich to grab the win. Mark Parenteau, Stephen Dubois, and Keith “Slika” Ennis finished up the top five.
The action was fast ad furious throughout the Fast-4 feature event, where Jason Poisson made a late-race pass with the checkered flag in sight to score his first career win.
Joey Fernandez followed up his first win of the year with a solid runner-up effort, with Tyler Mailhot, Cory Sullivan, Cindy Sevigny, Ken Mailhot, Jim Deveau, Greg Cummings, Nick Bushey, and Jason Hodgdon finishing up the top ten.

Robinson, Turner win on busy weekend at Unity

Model feature race victories in doubleheader weekend action at Unity
Raceway over the weekend. Other victory lane celebrations were earned
by Steve Moulton, Kris Watson, Andy Turbovsky, Cory Walker, Carl
McAlpine, Kyle Gallant, Mike Wilson, Mike Mason, Shadow Folsom, Mika
Wilson, Shelby Kimball, Robert Paddack, Mike Moore and Bradley
Bosworth – twice.
Rowland ‘Rockin JR’ Robinson, of Steuben, prevailed in Friday’s
night’s main event for the Late Model division, and then survived a
bit of scrutiny in the tech shack after the race which confirmed his
impressive victory. David Folsom of Skowhegan chased Robinson to the
checkered flag, with point leader Frank Moulton of Burnham third.
Dylan Turner and Dave St. Clair rounded out the top five.
Dylan Turner, of Freedom, nailed down his first Late Model feature win
in wire-to-wire fashion on Saturday’s racing card. The teenaged,
third-generation racer was pressured throughout the race by Friday
night’s winner, Robinson, but the challenger slipped a bit trying to
find room in the low groove and gave up the runner-up position to
Moulton in the process. Turner won by a half-dozen car lengths over
Moulton, Robinson and Folsom, all racing in a tight pack for second
spot.
Steve Moulton of Burnham prevailed in Friday night’s Super Street
division main event. Kris Watson of Hermon, the division’s dominant
driver during the spring season at Unity, settled for runner-up
honors, with Liberty’s Josh St.Clair grabbing the third-place trophy
in victory lane. Steve Rackliff of Starks finished in fourth position,
followed by John Kalel II of Orrington.
Watson bounced back and drove to victory once again in Saturday’s
Super Street headlined. Donnie York of Thorndike battled back from a
practice crash and multiple pit stops during the feature to finish in
an impressive second-place at the finish. Kalel finished third, in
front of Rackliff and Corey Poulin of Augusta.
Cory Walker of New Vineyard could be called chief survivor as well as
the winner in Friday night’s Late Model Pro Four feature race, which
saw more cars leave the racing surface on the back of a wrecker then
under their own power. Steve Rackliff of Starks finished in second
position, with Ben Nile of New Vineyard third. Shane Smith and Jimmy
Dennis completed the top five. The division was then given Saturday
off, presumable for both repair and reflection purposes.
Andy Turbovsky came out on top in Friday night’s most thrilling race
for the lead, in the Wildcat feature. Turbovsky spent most of the race
with Dustin Hubbard of Unity challenging on the outside, and division
dominator Carl McAlpine of Burnham looking for a lane to get by both
frontrunners. Turbovsky claimed the checkered flag, with Hubbard and
McAlpine second and third in the order of finish. Windsor’s Tim Hudson
was fourth, with Ed Sleeper of Vassalboro completing the top-five.
McAlpine returned Saturday and returned to his dominant form in the
second Wildcat feature of the weekend. Friday night winner Turbovsky
was the best of the rest, with Hubbard claiming the third-place
hardware. Sleeper and Hudson finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Kyle Gallant of Veazie scored in Friday night Monsta Mini division
feature competition. Mike Wilson and Skowhegan youngster Dylan
Lancaster were second and third, followed by Brad Norris and Tim
Robinson.
Chelsea’s Wilson, the defending champion of the division, cruised to
victory in Saturday’s Monsta Mini main event. Alicia Goodwin of
Clinton picked up her best-ever finish in the class, crossing the line
in second position. Friday night’s winner, Gallant, was credited with
a third-place run.
Mike Mason of Anson won a wild Friday night Flyin’ 4 division feature.
Chelsea’s Cody Sleeper was the second-place finisher, with Justin
Moore of Madison third. John Fortin and Markus Lowe ended up fourth
and fifth.
Skowhegan’s Shadow Folsom drove from the rear to the front of the pack
to earn the Flyin’ 4 feature victory on Saturday. Friday winner Mason
picked up a second-place finish, with Justin Moore of Madison third
after Zach Audet lost that spot in post-race inspection. That
disqualification moved Markus Lowe and Cody Sleeper into fourth and
fifth positions in the official finishing order.
Chelsea’s Mika Wilson outran the Ladies class in its Friday night
feature race. Her mom, Carol Wilson, claimed runner-up honors. Shelby
Kimball of Cornville was third, in front of Alicia Goodwin and Kayla
Allen.
Saturday’s Ladies race featured a thrilling, lead-swapping, lane
changing battle between Friday night winner Mika Wilson and
Cornville’s Shelby Kimball. In the end Kimball prevailed, with Mika
Wilson second across the line. Alicia Goodwin beat out Carol Wilson
for the third-place trophy.
Robert Paddack claimed victory in Saturday night’s Enduro race. Henry
Boudreau of Winterport was second across the line, with George Fernald
III of Benton third. Darrin Dyer and James Corson rounded out the top
five.
Mike Moore of Madison was Saturday’s Enduro race victor. Fernald III
claimed second in front of David Folsom, Kenny Lord and Friday
runner-up Boudreau.
Bradley Bosworth won twice on the weekend in Teen Thunder competition.
Bosworth was followed under the checkered flag by Brooke Getchell and
Westley Turner on Friday night. Getchell and Kimball claimed the
second and third-place trophies behind Bosworth on Saturday.
In Fernald Frenzy action on Saturday Justin Moore of Madison claimed
three wins. Moore was triumphant in the Demo Derby, the Backward Race
and (with Brittany) the Jack & Jill race. In addition to his Enduro
race win, Mike Moore took top honors in the Ramp Race and the Longest
Jump competition. Alicia Goodwin and her co-pilot won the Hot Dog
Race, while George Fernald III won the bag race with guidance from
Shadow Folsom.

NOTT & LEGERE CAPTURE FIRST EVER WINS DURING ‘DOUBLE HEADER’ RACING ACTIONS AT CENTRE FOR SPEED
(Shediac, N.B.) — Glynn Nott (#12) of Burton, N.B. and Robert Légère of Tracadie, N.B. captured their first career feature wins during Sunday’s Maritime Super Sportsman Series 100 and Schneiders Mini Stock 50 stock car racing action at the Centre for Speed, Atlantic Canada’s Super Speedway and “Metro Moncton’s Playground of Power”.
A total of 57 drivers from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island took the green during this ‘double header’ racing event.
Nott, who has competed in a number of Maritime Super Sportsman Series events at the CFS over the past few years finally tasted victory on Sunday by leading the second half of the 100-lap feature event. Meanwhile, Légère who travels from Tracadie to compete at CFS, picked up his first career feature win crossing the stripe first in the Mini Stock 50-lap main event.
Nott started the Super Series feature event in the11th starting position on the 24-car grid and took advantage of some timely passes
to make his way up to the lead pack. For the first half of the 100-lap event, it looked like pole-sitter, Cal Hatfield (#11) of Rothesay would be tough to beat as he set the early pace and led the first 50 laps of the event. However, Hatfield’s day came to an abrupt end on lap #50 when mechanical problems forced him to the pit area thus handing the lead to CFS 2008 Sportsman and Super Series Champion, Claude Gaudet (#22) of Grand Barachois.
On the ensuing restart, Gaudet held off the charge from Nott, who had worked his way into second spot, until lap #53 when Nott passed Gaudet on the backstretch to take the lead. Over the final half of the event, and
through a few restarts, Nott was able to fend off challenges from Gaudet and Mike Power (#58) of Salisbury to finally pick up his first win at CFS – something that has eluded him over the past few years. Gaudet had to settle for second, while Power took home third place hardware. Heat winners were Hatfield and veteran Bert Cormier (#3) of Bouctouche while Luc Bourgeois (#88) of Memramcook took the win in the Trophy Dash.
In Mini Stock action, Légère made the drive from Tracadie worthwhile as he also picked up his first career feature win in the Schneiders
Mini Stock 50 by methodically making his way through the pack to finally take over the lead just past the halfway mark. By lap #3, five of the top competitors where locked in a fierce battle for the lead with Martin Landry (#00) of Grand Barachois leading the way, followed closely by Légère, Brad Daley (#33) of Moncton, defending CFS champ Pierre Gautreau (#99) and cousin Daniel Gautreau (#20) both of Shediac.
On lap #38, Landry lost traction coming out of turn #2 and quickly found himself back peddling to third position with Pierre Gautreau inheriting the lead and Légère in hot pursuit. Over the final 12 laps, Gautreau and Légère exchange the lead
a few times with Légère finally winning out to cross the finish line just ahead of Gautreau and Landry, who nonetheless collected some valuable South East Challenge Series points with victories in both the 10-lap heat and semi-finals.
In Streetstock action, veteran Saint John driver, Rick Cashol (#54) came out victorious in the 25-lap feature. With the feature win, Cashol was able to erase some of the not-so-fond memories of coming in a very close second during his last visit to CFS during the Atlantic Streetstock
Championships in October 2008. Victor Vienneau (#03) of Cocagne, who had earlier picked up the win in the 10-lap heat, had to settle for second in the feature ahead of John Doucette (#57) of Summerside, PEI who had in turn picked up first place hardware in the 10-lap semi.
Finally, in the Four Fun division, it was also a first career trip to victory lane for Mike Weagle (#60) of Petitcodiac as he was first across the stripe in both the 25-lap feature and the 10-lap semi-final. In the feature, Weagle waited patiently for an opportunity to get by leader Jonathan
Doucette (#57) of Summerside, PEI. On lap #14, Weagle smoked his tires as he powered his way around the outside of Doucette coming out of turn #4 and then, never looked back to capture the win ahead of Doucette and Eldon Campbell (#17) of Moncton, who took some consolation with his earlier win in the 10-lap heat.
Next Sunday afternoon, July 5th at 2:00 p.m., the CENTRE will host the Eastern Well Drillers Streetstock 50 along with regular South East Challenge Series
points championship racing in Sportsman, Mini Stock and Four Fun divisions.

DONNY BLANCHARD WINS 95 LITTLE ENDURO 75 LAPPER
Bangor’s Donny Blanchard used a desperation move to pass Newburgh’s Paul Higgins in turn four on the last lap to win the 75 lap MAC Tools/New England Transmission Little Enduro feature on Saturday night at Speedway 95. Blanchard had started the event on the outside pole by winning the second qualifier, and moved into the lead past Newburgh’s Darren Durrell on lap 2. It wasn’t long before Blanchard and the rest of the leaders started lapping slower cars, and Blanchard got caught behind a pack of them, falling as far back as 10th spot before starting his charge back to the front. At the halfway point, Higgins was leading, followed by Derek Cook of Wilton, Darren Durrell, Hermon’s Andrew Crosby, and Blanchard in fifth. Blanchard caught the break he needed on lap 60, when Michael Shaw of Troy slammed into the front stretch tire wall, bringing out the third and final red flag of the event. On the restart, Blanchard started making his move to the front, with 15 laps remaining. When the flagman signaled one to go, Blanchard was on Higgin’s bumper, but had been unable to make the pass the lead. Going into turn three on the last lap, Blanchard dove to the inside and, using Higgin’s car to hold his own on the track, forced Higgins high and made the pass for the lead coming out of turn four. Higgins finished in second, with Darren Durrell in third. Derek Cook finished fourth on the track, but was disqualified in the post race inspection, giving the fourth spot finish to Hermon’s Andrew Crosby. Mike Ogden of Bucksport was fifth. Durrell and Blanchard won the qualifying races, putting them on the front row for the feature.
In Sport-Four action, Rick Grant of LaGrange took the lead from Old Town’s Brent Fletcher on the second lap and held it to the end of the caution free event, picking up his first win of 2009. Fletcher held his ground for the remainder of the race after losing the lead to Grant, and finished in the second spot. Points leader David Green of Hampden ran another strong race to finish in third. Roy Hathorne of Brownville had his Dodge Neon running well enough for a fourth place finish while Gary Richards of Stetson finished in fifth. Grant had recently returned behind the wheel of his Mustang after having loaned the car to fellow driver Jeff Overlock Jr. of Hermon for a couple of weeks while Overlock tried to fix a nagging engine problem in his own car. Some of the 95 Sport-Four drivers did double duty as they also competed in the 50 lap New England Mini Stock Tour event held Saturday night as a make up from an early season rain out. At the end of the day, former Speedway 95 Sport-Four champion Justin Trembley of Winter Harbor won the event after taking the lead from Derek Cook of Wilton on the 19th lap and holding on for the win. Tremblay’s Mustang was easily the class of the field as no one was able to seriously challenge him once he went out front. Current Tour points leader Emerson Cayer of Contookcook N.H. finished in second, with another former 95 Sport-Four drive,r Jason Dorr of Milford finishing in third. Roger Ducharme, hometown unknown, finished in fourth with 95 regular David Green of Hampden finishing fifth. Tremblay and Cayer won the night’s qualifying heats.
The largest Strictly Street field of the season to date raced 35 laps in a series race postponed from last week’s rain out. Carl McAlpine from Burnham was the leader as the checkered flag fell, picking up his first Speedway 95 win of the season. Current points leader Bradley Norris of Ellsworth finished the event in the second spot, And Doug Day of Bangor, substituting for Jordan Pearson, who was given the week off for unsportsmanlike conduct after a disagreement with scoring following a truck race ion which he competed, finished in third. Fourth went to Tim Hudson of Windsor and Shawn Hamel of Bangor finished fifth. The race was stopped only once, on lap 28 when Holden’s Travis Poulin, who was running third at the time, spun and rolled over on the backstretch. McAlpine was also the winner of the Strictly Street qualifier.
In the Super Streets, Kris Watson of Hermon survived a kind of crazy feature event to post his second win of the day. Kris had raced at Unity Raceway earlier in the afternoon, and posted a win there, as well as a second place finish the night before. Watson started the event in the fourth position, but was in first at the completion of lap 1 and was never bested for the top spot. Steve Moulton of Holden finished a lucky second after leaving the race on lap 14 with a damaged front ball joint following contact with Ed Drake of Vasselboro as they were racing for the second spot. Drake was assisted by the track wrecker crew and never returned to the race while Moulton drove his damaged car to the pit. While he was in the pits for repairs, the race was started and stopped twice without a lap being completed, so when he returned to the race, he was still on the lead lap. He came back through the field to finish the event in second. Mike Overlock of Franklin finished third, for his first podium finish of the year. Nick Kinney of Danforth and Al Libby of Brooks rounded out the top five. Moulton was the heat race winner, but started back in the field because of his top three finish last race date.
The Wicked Good Vintage Racing League was again on the track Saturday night with cars from their various divisions competing together. Al Robinson of Machias, driving a 65 Buick and Ken Robinson on E. Machias, driving a 49 Plymouth raced side by side for the last half of the event, with Al Robinson slightly ahead at the checkers. Ken Robinson finished second with Bob Hills of Searsmont third n a 38 Chevy.Jim Sprague of Morrill, driving a 32 Ford and Jeff Willette of Winslow, in a 46 Plymouth rounded out the top five. Al Robinson also won the qualifier for the division.

Chris Thorne knows something about winning. The twenty five year old Sidney, ME racer started winning back when he raced Mini Stocks at Unity Raceway nine years ago. Three Late Model Championships later Chris Thorne is still at it. Chris picked up his first win of the season on Uncle Henry’s night at Wiscasset Raceway on June 27th. Thorne lead the entire race, holding off many challenges from T.J. Watson and Dan Trask over the closing laps. When Chris crossed the line he did so in front of Seth Raven who picked up his third top three of the year in the Steel’s Real Rod’s and Custom’s Late Models. Erik Nash would finish third all the way up from Mooresville, NC for the weekend. David Folsom would grab fourth and Danny Smart fifth.
In the Aable Auto Parts Mini Stock division Thomas True of Wiscasset was able to get by Kevin Douglass to pick up his second win of the season. Douglass would finish second with Pete McCollett grabbing the last trophy position. Point leader Ryan Ripley came home fourth with Tasha Dyer finishing fifth.
The U.S. Cellular Mini Truck’s put on a good show for the crowd with the top two trucks battling side by side for many laps. In the end it would be Ryan Hayes capturing his second checkered flag in as many weeks. Roger Allard would finish second to Hayes with Russ Anderson third. Fourth would belong to Roger’s son Opie Allard and fifth would go to Josh Harjula.
The New England Transmission Strictly Streets also put on a great show. Ian Bresnehan who just celebrated his 36th birthday on Friday picked up the feature victory. Jamie Henderson would finish second with Mike Hodgkins picking up his second straight third place finish. Fourth would go to Jamie’s dad Wally Henderson and fifth to point leader Mike Moody.
In the Verizon Wireless Super Street division there was a first time winner. Allan Moeller Jr. of Dresden picked his first career feature victory. Josh St. Clair of Liberty finished second with Shawn Austin coming home third. Ryan Gero would get fourth and Ryan St. Clair, Josh’s brother would take home fifth.
Chuck Colby was able to get his first feature victory of the season in the Clarks Car Crushing Pro-Stocks. Colby would have to hold off Jeff Burgess for the win. Scott King would grab third with fourth going to Chuck’s father Charlie Colby and Joe Creamer would get fifth.

John Donahue Dominates the White Mountain 150
North Woodstock, NH – John Donahue dominated the White Mountain 150 American-Canadian stock car race at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, NH. Donahue earned the pole starting position after receiving a plus 7 in the ACT Tour’s plus-minus handicap system. No one could keep up with the blistering pace he set as he led every lap of the event and lapped all but the top ten.
Brent Dragon earned the runner-up position followed by Nick Sweet, Eric Williams, and Ben Rowe rounding out the top five. Scott Payea came home sixth, Cris Michaud seventh, Tyler Cahoon eighth, Brad Leighton ninth and Pete Potvin was the last car on the lead lap and finished tenth.
Donahue becomes the sixth different winner in six completed tour events. He becomes the eleventh different driver to earn his way to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the ACT Invitational on September 19th.
The American-Canadian Tour has next weekend off before making its next stop north of the border in Fraserville, ON at Kawartha Speedway for the Summer Sizzler 200 on Sunday, July 12th.

Flat Tire Deflates Moffitt’s Run At NHMS
Loudon, N.H. (June 27, 2009): Brett Moffitt has been on an upward climb in the NASCAR Camping World Series East, but Friday afternoon bad luck struck the 16-year-old driver that resulted in a 27th place finish in the Heluva Good! Summer 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Moffitt was running third when a tire blew on his No. 44 Castle Packs Power/EJP/Brettmoffitt.com Chevrolet and sent him into the wall in turn four. The incident caused enough damage that the Andy Santerre Motorsports entry had to park the car for the day.
“There was no warning or anything. The tire just went out,” said Moffitt.
The weekend kicked off for Moffitt with a qualifying effort of 124.106 mph (30.690 seconds) – a speed fast enough to earn a starting position in row two in the fourth position.
When the green flag dropped, Moffitt took the third position away from Kevin Swindell and quickly settled in behind the leaders. A long green flag run developed with more than a second separating Moffitt from the second place driver of Ryan Truex. As the laps ticked off and the leaders hit lapped traffic, Moffitt was able to close up the distance to a single carlength.
Despite his progress, however, trouble was just around the corner.
“The car was really, really good. Andy has always run good here. It was just a little bit tight, but we could have made a couple of adjustments during the pit stops and that would have really helped us out,” Moffitt said.
At lap 39, Moffitt was coming around turn three when he suddenly slid up the banking and hit the wall. The 16 year old driver brought the No. 44 back to pit road, but due to the damage, could not maneuver the car behind pit road wall.
“The right front rotor broke. We were trying to get it behind the wall and the right front was locking up so we couldn’t turn,” he explained. A tow truck was sent out to get the car and Moffitt was done for the day.
Up next for the NASCAR Camping World Series East is Thompson International Speedway on July 11th. The race, which marks the seventh event on the schedule, could mark a turning point for the team.
“We’re still sponsorless and we only have one more race covered,” said Moffitt. “Our plan was always to run the first seven races and hope to find a partner for the remainder of the season. At this point, it’s just Thompson and that’s it.”

Brackett ends five-year drought with emotional Late Model victory
OXFORD, Maine – Five years, including a championship season, passed since Tim Brackett’s last feature win at Oxford Plains Speedway. Brackett also saw at least two previous podium finishes in 2009 unravel due to late-race spins.
Small wonder that Brackett sounded a little bit moved, even choked up, after collecting his 43rd career OPS checkered flag in the 40-lap Oxford Networks Late Model main event Saturday night.
Brackett put each of his 30-plus years experience to work in holding off another of the speedway’s all-time greats, four-time champion Travis Adams, to prevail by a car length.
“I’m so glad this is finally over,” Brackett said. “It was such a long time getting here.”
Adams’ late rally reduced Brackett’s lead from a half-straightaway to a shadow over the final 10 laps. The current point leader settled for second, however, with Tommy Ricker a season-best third, Billy Childs Jr. fourth and Scott Robbins fifth.
Each of the three Championship Series winners pocketed his first victory of the year.
Tommy Tompkins dominated the 30-lap Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy Strictly Stock feature, while Steve Barker put on a similar display in the Allen’s Mini Stock main. Both races ran from wire-to-wire without a caution.
Tompkins, like Brackett, turned up the wick early in his race and parlayed it into an impressive victory. Skip Tripp used the outside lane to overtake KIm Tripp in an intense battle for second, with B.J. Chapman fourth and Jerry Harrison edging point leader Zach Emerson for fifth.
Barker, whose car sustained engine failure three weeks ago, has been one of the fastest four-cylinders ever since. It showed Saturday, when he cruised to his heat win and overtook Jeff Moon for the lead on lap 5 of the finale.
Standout rookie Calvin Rose Jr. made a terrific outside charge to second but never saw the caution flag he needed to make a bid at Barker. Justin Karkos, winner in three of his previous four starts, rounded out the top three in front of Darrell Moore and Larry Melcher.
Familiar faces reigned in Acceleration Series Agren Appliance Saturday Showdown activity.
Ryan Farrar claimed his third straight Call of the Wild RV Center Sport Truck victory, topping Jon Lizotte and Kevin Oliver. Ross Spurling was fourth and Jeff Schmidt fifth.
Kyle Hewins is 4-for-7 in an entertaining Macdonald Motors Runnin’ Rebel campaign after his latest victory. Hewins shook off Zach Audet for the lead with five circuits remaining in the 20-lapper.
Defending Agren champ Troy Jordan took third, backed by John Childs and championship leader Matt Dufault.
The Senior Tour Auto Racers also made their annual visit to OPS, flexing the muscles of their crowd-pleasing 1970s modified cars and 1930s coupes.
OPS has a bust holiday weekend in store. Acceleration Series action cranks up Wednesday, July 1, followed by the first round of the Summer Slam Triple Crown with Tripls 50s for the Championship Series divisions on Thursday.
Maine State Lottery Fireworks Night punctuates the weekend on Saturday the Fourth. Start time each night is 6:30 p.m.

Z-Line Designs Driver Wins Camping World RV Sales 200

After back-to-back second-place finishes in the past two NASCAR Nationwide Series races, Kyle Busch got back into victory lane by winning Saturday’s Camping World RV Sales 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon.
The driver of the No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) earned the win by beating his teammate, Joey Logano, to the stripe by .617 of a second. It was Busch’s fifth Nationwide Series win of the season and his first since taking the checkered flag three weeks ago at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway.
“Today we didn’t have the winning car, we made the winning car,” said Busch, who now has 26 career Nationwide Series victories in 154 starts. “Sometimes when we’re out front we’re content with what we’ve got and we end up getting beat in the end. The show is stolen from us. But this is great. (Jason) Ratcliff (crew chief) and myself talked this past week about what we needed to do in order to get better, in order to take this team to victory lane instead of finishing second week in and week out. This is a good step in the right direction. I’m really proud of Jason and all of these guys here.
“The pit crew was phenomenal today. It was really a methodical race. We really had to plan our way through there. We had to strategize, we had to work our way up one car at a time. I don’t think we put a mark on this thing all day long. The Z-Line Designs Toyota is pretty clean.”
The win further extended Busch’s lead in the championship point standings, as he now carries a 162-point advantage over his nearest pursuer, Carl Edwards, with 19 races still remaining.
Busch started ninth and led twice for 37 laps. He made his final drive to victory by passing Logano on lap 165 of the 200-lap race, and despite Logano having led six times for a race-high 108 laps, he was no match for Busch in the race’s final stages.
“I may not show it as much, but you’re never happy about finishing second,” Logano said. “It’s always tough, but it’s cool to see both Gibbs cars up there week in and week out over here in the Nationwide Series. It’s really cool. It seems like the last few races it’s been me and Kyle coming down to the wire like that.”
The Logano/Busch duo has finished 1-2 five times in the past two seasons, but Saturday’s race at New Hampshire marked the first time Busch came out on top.
“Joey’s a great racer and really has a lot of potential, and he’s showing it for sure in the Nationwide Series as well as what he’s been able to do in the (NASCAR Sprint) Cup Series,” Busch said. “We’re proud of him, and he’ll be here a long time at Joe Gibbs Racing.”
Finishing third behind Busch and Logano was Brad Keselowski, while Mike Bliss and Kevin Harvick rounded out the top-five. Edwards, Greg Biffle, Scott Speed, rookie Erik Darnell and Jason Leffler comprised the remainder of the top-10.
The race featured three caution periods for 15 laps, with 10 drivers failing to finish the race.
The next event on the Nationwide Series schedule is the July 3 Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. The race starts at 8 p.m. EDT with live coverage provided by ESPN beginning with its pre-race show at 7:30 p.m.
