GEORGIA, Vt. – Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., and RPM Motorsports take a break from ACT Late Model Tour racing this week to compete in the $5,000-to-win Subway Fresh Fit 150 at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, May 12. Hoar finished second last year in the open competition for ACT-legal Late Models, and he’s looking to use the event to get the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge Charger back on track following a disappointing 11th-place finish last weekend in the ACT Spring Green 112 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

Luke Hinkley Solidly Among ACT Leaders

At the end of a long day of practice at Thunder Road International Speedbowl two weeks ago, Luke Hinkley was noticeably frustrated.

The Claremont, N.H., driver had thrown everything he could think of at his No. 31 R.E. Hinkley Oil Dodge Charger to no avail. Nothing was making the car circle the peculiar quarter-mile any more efficiently. If Hinkley had a kitchen sink at his disposal, he probably would have thrown that at the ill-tempered car, too.
So, Hinkley made a phone call across the Green Mountains to Mitch Green, and in the middle of the night, Green offered up some advice. That advice turned Hinkley’s team around 180 degrees – turning the No. 31 from a car that simply wouldn’t go to one that most of the other ACT Late Model Tour teams couldn’t keep up with when practice resumed the next morning.

TWICE IS NICE: Brian Hoar Wins First Merchants Bank 150 – Now 2-For-2 In ACT For 2012

ACT American Canadian TourBrian Hoar of Williston, Vt., held off a furious challenge from Wayne Helliwell Jr. for the second race in a row, leading the final 22 laps to win the Merchants Bank 150 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Sunday afternoon.

It was the first career Merchants Bank 150 win for the driver of the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge, and it was his second straight win to open the 2012 ACT Late Model Tour season. Hoar now has an ACT-record 35 career victories and holds the early points lead as he searches for a ninth ACT championship.

“I’ve been chasing this one a long time,” said Hoar, who won the 2011 Milk Bowl at Thunder Road. “It’s the first time for us (in the Merchants Bank 150), and it’s a big deal. Anytime you can win at Thunder Road, it’s awesome.”

· 109 cars attended the annual Car Show held at Thunder Road

· 46 ACT Late Models participated in practice in preparation for Sunday’s Merchants Bank 150.

· Joey Polewarcyzk Jr. of Hudson, NH had the fastest lap time of 13.069.

· Other fast times were set by defending Late Model Champion Dave Pembroke, two-time defending Merchants Bank 150 Champion Nick Sweet, Lt. Governor Phil Scott, former Rookie of the Year Cody Blake, as well as Ben Rowe, Brooks Clark, Randy Potter, and Cris Michaud in the Merchants Bank Ford Fusion.

Drivers Gear Up for Thunder Road’s ACT Merchants Bank 150

ACT American Canadian TourBarre, VT — The long offseason has finally come to a close as drivers prepare for the first race at “The Nation’s Site of Excitement” Thunder Road in Barre, VT. The Late Model stars of the Northeast will be looking to send a message in their respective championship hopes at The Merchants Bank 150.

After a fierce battle for the win at the ACT season opener at Lee USA Speedway, the pressure heats up at Thunder Road for the second race of the 2012 ACT season. Many drivers will have a chip on their shoulder from missed opportunities in the opener, and will look for vengeance at The ‘Road.

After following up his record breaking eight ACT Championships with a win at Lee USA Speedway in the 2012 ACT season opener, Brian Hoar of Williston, VT will look to continue his march towards the ACT Championship. However, there will be stout competition waiting for him on the Barre high banks on Sunday, April 29.
