Waterford Speedbowl announced it confirmed its 2013 Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday series track champions. Three first-time champions were named and another achieved a
place in track history with their third title overall. In total, six champions were declared.

Middletown’s Joey Ternullo became the youngest Legend Cars champion in track history while Bill Reiman of Southington and Anthony Marvin of Colchester each won their first championships in the respective Super X-Car and Bandolero divisions. Brad Voglesong, also from Middletown, took a third X-Car title to become the only driver to accomplish the feat.

NEW ENGLAND MOTORSPORTS SOUTH 9/17/2013

The final Wild ‘n Wacky race program of the season was held at Waterford Speedbowl Wednesday evening, placing the final winners of the year into Victory Lane. In addition, track championships in all divisions were settled. Picking up race wins included Angelo Belsito of Auburn, MA in the INEX Legend Cars, Dave Yardley of Berlin in the Super X-Cars, Larry Loomis Jr. of Moosup in the X-Car division and Anthony Marvin of Colchester in the INEX Bandoleros.

Track championships were claimed by Joey Ternullo of Middletown in the INEX Legend Cars, the youngest champion in the history of the Legend Cars division at the track at 14 years of age. In the X-Cars, a tight points battle saw Brad Voglesong of Middletown edge out New London’s Zach Thomas.
The Super X-Car title went to Bill Reiman of Southington as he overtook Frank Alessio of Colchester in the final race. Marvin’s victory in the INEX Bandoleros vaulted him to the division title ahead of Corey Comeroski of Lebanon. Peter Pollard of Old Lyme and Chuck McDonald of Groton earned titles in the Super X-Car and X-Car Wacky Race standings. All champions are unofficial pending official review by the track. They will be
confirmed in the coming week.

NEW ENGLAND MOTORSPORTS SOUTH 9/12/2013

Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, CT, will again host the Valenti Modified Racing Series this Friday night featuring an 80-lap shootout with New England’s premier open-wheel touring division, the Valenti Modified Racing Series in town. The race is the 3rd annual Lincoln Tech 80.

Two weeks ago Friday, a season high 36 cars entered the August race at Stafford, and series officials are confident another strong turnout of race cars could happen again. This Friday’s race is the third and final appearance of the season by the popular series, celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Steven Masse, of Bellingham, Ma, looks to add to his seven series win total. Masse garnered his third win last month at Stafford.

Joining Masse will be current point leader Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, PA, Tommy Barrett, of Millis, Ma, winner of the June race at Stafford, Louie Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, MA, Richard Savary, of Canton, MA, and Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT.

NEW ENGLAND MOTORSPORTS SOUTH

Wild ‘n Wacky racing returned to the race track Wednesday evening at Waterford Speedbowl with five event winners taking honors on the night. A first time victor emerged in the Super X-Car division as Dave Yardley of Berlin won his first-ever race at the Speedbowl. Preston’s Wayne Shifflett won the night’s X-Car feature and in INEX racing, Angelo Belsito of Auburn, MA and Jonathon Puleo of Branford won the respective Legend Car and Bandolero division feature races. The night’s Wacky Race featured a relay race among teams of competitors which entertained fans in attendance.

The final Thursday night of the 2013 racing season at Thompson Speedway could produce the most exciting racing of the season. The point standings in each of the divisions are the closest in memory with a total of 25 different drivers in a position to win one of the five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series division track championships.

Another round of Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday was hosted by Waterford Speedbowl Wednesday evening with an action packed night of motorsports on the race track. Taking victories included a first-ever winner in the Super X-Cars, R.J. Cunningham of Clinton.

John Bowes of Willington won the night’s X-Car feature and in INEX racing action Nick Ladyga of Voluntown was a repeat winner in the Legend Cars while Alex McCollum made the trek from Phillipsburg, NJ to win the Bandolero feature. Peter Pollard of Old Lyme was the night’s wackiest driver, taking the Flag Pole Race. An appearance by the Vintage Outlaw Modifieds helped turn back the clock and show race fans a taste of racing from decades ago, rounding out the program.

Stafford Speedway returned to NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing action with Call Before You Dig presenting CBYD 811 Night. Ryan Preece scored his division leading 7th win of the 2013 season in the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Adam Gray extended his streak of consecutive podium finishes to 12 with his fifth win of the season in the Double Distance 60-lap Late Model feature, Chase Dowling took down his fifth win in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature, David Arute claimed his third win in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, and Kyle Casagrande scored his second win of the season in the 15-lap DARE Stock feature.
