fsdtsdgChris King of Burnham finally got the win he’s been looking for as he won the 50 lap Casella Waste Systems series race #2 at Speedway 95 Saturday night. King started fifth in the 12 car field, took the lead from Skowhegan’s Zach Audet on lap 19, and held off Frankfort’s Bob Seger Jr. for the win. Seger, who started the race in the fifth spot, spent the majority of the race trying to get past fourth place finisher Audet and third place finisher Alex Berry of Harrington to get in position to go for the win. Once past them, Seger was unable to close the gap to mount a serious challenge to King. Ellsworth’s Bradley Norris finished fifth in the caution free feature. King also won the 10 lap qualifier held earlier in the program.

RAIN INTERRUPTS SPEEDWAY 95 PROGRAM

Speedway 95Rain caused postponement of the 40 lap Dysart’s Late Model feature at Speedway 95 on Saturday night and shortened the 25 lap Sport-Four feature to 21 laps. At the end of the 21st lap, Donny Silva of Hudson was in the lead, and was declared the winner when the event was stopped due to rain. Just prior to the last lap run under green, the race was halted three times before lap 20 could be completed. Ted Ryder of Carmel was in the lead when the first yellow flag was thrown on lap 20, with Silva having come from the rear of the field to the second spot by lap 10. Ryder’s lead was substantial at the time, but Silva was slowly catching the season’s points leader. When the first yellow fell, Silva lined up beside Ryder for the restart. When the green fell, the duo raced side by side until the yellow fell for the second time. Again they lined up side by side for the restart, and stayed that way when the green fell again. As they approached the start finish line side by side for the third time on lap 20, the yellow flew again. On the restart, Silva was able to forge ahead of Ryder and hold the lead until the caution came out for rain on lap 21. After circling the track for about ten minutes, the race was called official, the remainder of the program scrubbed, and Silva was declared the winner. Ryder finished second with pole sitter Andrew Crosby finishing third. Fourth went to James Goodman of Orrington with Brock Worster of Kingfield finishing fifth.

Rose led the pack from lap 8 after battling with Hudson’s Donny Silva for the first seven laps of the event and went on to victory. Carmel’s Ted Ryder battled with Rose for the lead following a lap 9 caution that eliminated Silva from the race, but Rose proved too strong for the season points leader and Ryder finished the race in second. Meanwhile Kevin Hartley of Hermon survived a spin that brought out the lap 9 caution, and finished seventh in the race, securing his first place finish in the series points. Third in the night’s race went to Milo’s Steve Heath, with Chris Blanchard of Clinton and Matt Moore of Mechanic Falls rounding out the top five in that order. Ryder was credited with a second place finish in the series points, with Andrew Crosby of Hermon third in the series competition.
