Star Speedway’s Coastal Clash 150 has been postponed from Saturday, May 9, to Sunday, June 14, due to forecasted inclement weather in Epping, New Hampshire. Officials with the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour and Star Speedway made the decision to reschedule the event after three consecutive races across different facilities earlier this month.
“It’s unfortunate that Mother Nature couldn’t see us through just one more weekend, but we’ve been incredibly lucky up to this point,” said ACT managing partner Cris Michaud. “To save teams the travel this was the best call to make and we’re looking forward to returning to Star Speedway on Sunday, June 14.”
The postponement means the Brookside Equipment Sales Triple Crown will feature back-to-back events starting with the 51st Spring Green at Seekonk Speedway on Saturday, June 6, followed by the Coastal Clash 150 at Star Speedway on Sunday, June 14. The Milton CAT series will next race on Sunday, May 31, at Riverside Speedway & Adventure Park in Groveton, New Hampshire, with additional series including the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models and PASS Modifieds also set to compete.
Modified ace Tyler Leary scored a huge win Saturday on the high banks of Monadnock Speedway, topping the 75-lap Todd Martell Memorial Modified main event ahead of a deep field of open-wheel strongmen.
On a hoodies-up night when hot cocoa was much more in fashion than icecream that have long been a staple at the Winchester quarter-mile, the Hatfield, Mass. star was red hot, leading the last 36 laps en route to the big win.
Other winners on the first Saturday of May at Monadnock included JD Stockwell, who won a thriller in the Limited Late Model feature, Carlos Grenier, who was first under the checkers in the Pure Stocks, Randy Clark, victorious in the Pro 4 Modifieds, and Dylan Stati, who scored his first win ever in the Young Guns.
Chris Riendeau and Chris Chambers each scored their second win of the season Friday, May 1, at Claremont Motorsports Park. The victory kept Riendeau perfect on the young season at the Thrasher Road speedplant, while Chambers’ win was his second in three strong outings.
Joining the two Vermont aces in celebrating victories Friday were fellow Green Mountain Boys Brandon Gray and Trevyr Young. Only hometown hot shoe Kyle Templeton was able to prevent a Vermont sweep, as the two-time defending track Mini Stock champion romped to victory in his division’s first outing of the summer.
Stephen Donahue and Gray sat up front as the chilly night’s 50-lap Tour Type Late Model main event went green. Donahue, a close runner-up to 2025 titlist Aaron Fellows a summer ago, pounced on the opening lead, with Gray virtually glued to his bumper. The dynamic duo raced under a blanket for 38 laps, with Gray – the reigning speedway Super Street champ – apparently aboard the faster car, while Donahue remained laser focused on holding a perfect line. But on that lap, Gray dove low and under Donahue in turn one, taking the lead along the backchute and then blasting off to win by a country mile in the caution-free event.
Open-wheel ace Nathan Wenzel strutted the stuff that made him both a speedway and New Hampshire state Modified champion Saturday at Monadnock Speedway, topping the season opening main event at the high-banked speedplant.
Reigning Limited Late Model track champion Dylan Zullo is already in the running for what may be the summer’s most exciting victory at the historic quarter-mile oval.
With a huge crowd braving the chilly April temperatures, six drivers started their season with a flourish, each earning the first victory lap of the new season in their respective division. Along with Wenzel and Zullo, long-ago Mini Stock champ Kevin Clayton, Pure Stock hot shoe Jimmy Zellman, Pro V8 Sportsman pilot Chris Kingsley and Young Gun speedster Sofia Rego each went home victorious.
Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour heat winners Kaiden Fisher and Gabe Brown earned the front row of the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 by each earning a +5 in qualifying action. After suffering with ignition issues all of Friday practice, Fisher made his presence known by leading the early circuits before Jimmy Renfrew Jr. got around him on the lap 7 restart. Renfrew kept pace ahead of the pack while the 32-car field spread out, easing the pressure on their Hoosier Racing Tires against the rough, aged surface of Lee USA Speedway.
A rough outing for rookie Holdyn Sullivan took a turn for the worse, spinning off of turn two and hard into the outside wall. Back under green, former Quebec champion Jonathan Bouvrette made a strong run to the front along with Gabe Brown as Brown took over the lead. With 50 laps remaining, Bouvrette continued to gain on lap times but lap traffic worked in Brown’s favor.
