Less than ten laps to go, Fournier checked out as the battle for third brewed between Adams and King.  Bergquist and Normandin battled for fourth.  On lap thirty two, Adams experienced mechanical problems as the caution was brought out to set up a three lap shoot-out.  On the restart, Fournier held off teammate McTaggart.  Kendall moved into the fourth spot as Normanidn felt the pressure of newcomer, Danny Field on his back bumper for fifth. At the checkers is one, two, three for Big Boys Racing as Fournier, McTaggart and King celebrated in victory lane. King and Fields followed for top five.

By lap five, Muni pulled away from the field as Striebel and Ed Brehio III battled for third. On lap ten, the top three of Muni, Brooks and Brehio began to pull away as Streibel, Kevin Ouellette and Jeremy Sorel were in a fierce battle for fourth. Five laps to go, Muni began to feel the pressure from both Brooks and Brehio III for the lead.  The battle for fourth continued  between Streibel, Kevin Ouellette and Jeremy Sorel. On the final lap and the final corner, Muni worked around a lap car and took the checkered flag for her first win of the season. Brooks, Brehio III, Streibel and Ouellette followed for top five.

Aric Blanchette set the pace for the Outlaw Pro main event. By the second lap, Bryon Baker moved into the lead leaving Blanchette in battle for second with Mike Parks. The two ran side by side as Baker fought back. On lap thirty five, Parks moved into the lead as Baker followed on his bumper for second. Hersey again tried the high side of Baker but was denied. McDaniel nabs first PASS Mod win; Tatro repeats in PASS Sportsman

Naples ME ( 8/3/2009) Scott McDaniel looked high and low for a way around race leader Gary Norris in Sundays’ 40 lap Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Mod feature at Unity (ME) Raceway, and when the white flag unfurled the young racer from Livermore Falls Maine found a way by Norris to capture his first PASS Mod series feature win. McDaniel looked like he had the car to beat from the get go and gave the fans plenty to watch as he tried the outside and inside lines on Norris. It was tight clean racing at its best for the full 40 laps as the pair battled for the win.

Norris hung on to second and Bill Dixon raced home third. Point leader Andy Shaw suffered damage on the first lap when the front of the field checked up and retired, finishing last.

McDaniel is the second new PASS Mod winner in as many races. Sulo Burbank captured his first victory at Riverside Speedway on July 25th.Burbank recorded a fourth place finish at Unity, followed by Scott Grant in fifth. Heat races went to Dan Somes and Andy Shaw.

Shane Tatro has to have taken a liking to Unity Raceway. The Levant Maine PASS Sportsman regular has two wins in the series; his first coming in a shoot out with Dan McKeage in the series’ May appearance at the speedway, and the second came Sunday when he beat Lyman McKeage and his son Dan McKeage to the line in the 75 lap PASS Sportsman portion of the NAPA 150 card. Carey Martin stayed alive in the point race by finishing fourth and Duane Seekins rounded out the top five.

Mike Landry looked like a winner with less than ten laps to go. Landry and Tatro dueled all race long, with Tatro out front until Landry used the high line to take over on lap 53. Landry appeared to have the measure of Tatro, but the lead was never more than a car length or two. During that lap 53 caution period the telltale smell of gear oil was in evidence, and it proved to be coming from the rear end of the leader’s ride. Landry dropped into the infield with seven to go, and Tatro cruised to another PASS victory lane visit at Unity. Landry and Tatro each won a qualifying round.

The PASS Mods and Sportsman share the limelight at Groveton New Hampshire’s Riverside Speedway on Saturday August 16th. For more information on the speedway visit www.riversidespeedway.org . The Pro All Stars are on line at www.racewithpass.com or www.proallstarsseries.com .

Pro All Stars Series news: PASS North super late model NAPA 150 race report – Unity (ME) Raceway

Turner Topples PASS regulars at Unity

Naples ME (8/3/2009) Randy Turner drove by Scott Chubbuck on lap 117 of Sunday afternoon’s Pro All Stars Series (PASS) NAPA 150 at Unity (ME) Raceway, taking the lead for good to capture his first career Pro All Stars Series (PASS) super late model feature win. DJ Shaw came from the back of the field to nip Ben Rowe for second at the checker. Rowe settled for third and Chubbuck slipped to fourth; Richie Dearborn rounded out the top five.

Unity Raceway lived up to its name and Maine’s Toughest Oval served up an afternoon of side by side racing along with a few spectacular wrecks for those unlucky enough to get out of bounds at the tricky third mile oval.

The first half of the show belonged to Louis Mechalides, Turner, Chubbuck and Kelly Moore, with Mechalides, urner and Chubbuck swapping the lead on several restarts and racing hard for the top spot. That was the way they raced until a lap 107 restart when Chubbuck and Mechalides gave each other a shove or two, resulting in a broken suspension and retirement for Mechalide’s 1C Cat Scales ride.

That left Turner and Chubbuck, two drivers with plenty of Unity experience, to battle it out. Turner has been chasing a Pro All Stars win whenever the series visits his home track and he came close in May, finishing third and running up front throughout the race. This time around he wouldn’t be denied. Turner’s win was a first for the Toyota name plate in PASS North competition, and it’s the first feature win for a non series regular since Joey Porceillo scored at Beech Ridge in May of 2007. Turner is the seventh different driver to visit PASS super late model victory lane this season, joining Chris Staples as a first time feature winner.

Staples didn’t fare so well this day, taking a lazy roll in the mud off turn one. He was uninjured. Wrecks slowed title contenders Adam Bates (11th) and Derek Ramstrom (19th). The race was slowed by seven cautions and one red flag period. Heat race wins went to Turner, Mechalides, and Gary Smith.

The PASS North super late models have a week off before heading south to Seekonk (MA) Speedway when Cirelli Foods presents the PASS 150 on Saturday August 15th. The race marks the series’ first visit to the track that invented super late model (nee pro stock) racing, and the first Bay State appearance in the Pro All Stars Series’ nine year history. It’s a trip to the Cement Palace that can’t be missed. Race time is 6:00 PM; Seekonk Speedway’s web site can be found at www.seekonkspeedway.com .

NCWS East Recap: Park Drives Way Back To Victory Lane

BEAVER FALLS, N.Y. – Veteran Steve Park showed he hasn’t forgotten his way to Victory Lane, leading the final five laps Saturday evening at Adirondack International Speedway en route to the win in The Edge Hotel 150 presented by Casella Waste Systems.

It was Park’s first NASCAR Camping World Series East victory in 13 years. He won twice in 1996, with the latter coming at the now closed Nazareth (Penn.) Speedway on July 1. Since, he has collected wins in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Series Truck Series. He has also won on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Park appeared on the verge of the win in the NASCAR Camping World Series previous race, July 11 at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway, only to lose the lead late to teenage rookie Ryan Truex.

This time, it was Park who got the jump on race leader Jody Lavender on the race’s final restart and led the the rest of the way. Truex got by Lavender in the closing laps to grab second. Jesus Hernandez and defending race winner Matt Kobyluck rounded out the top five.

With the win, Park locked up a secured spot in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown. The prestigious postseason race is scheduled for Jan. 29-30, 2010 at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (Calif.).

Eddie MacDonald won his first career Coors Light Pole Award and led a race-high 101 laps. However, he got shuffled back late in the race and finished 10th.

Truex was able to stretch his points lead to 26 over Lavender with three races remaining. The top six drivers are seperated by just 100 points.

All-Star Speedway 8-1 Race Report

Epping, NH – Another action-packed night of racing action hit the high banks of All-Star Speedway on Saturday night, and Eric Hudson continued his hot streak, collecting his third consecutive feature win in the 40-lap All-Star Modified main event.

When the green flag waved, Hudson wasted little time making his way to the front, with J.R. Baril hanging tough in the second spot over the first half of the race.  Joe Lemay had moved in to challenge Baril for second, but a lap 17 spin sent him to the rear.

Kenny White, Jr. took up the challenge next, while leader Hudson continued to stretch it out.  At the checkers, it was Hudson and the Newmarket Sand and Gravel machine out front by several car lengths to score the win.

Baril held on to post a solid runner-up finish, with White grabbing the third spot in his first start of the year. Lemay recovered from his mid-race spin for fourth, followed by Rusty Ball, Bobby MacArthur, Dana Smith, Sumner Scott, and Norm Forrest.

Grant Aither of nearby Exeter made his first appearance of the year count in the Super Street main, as he outclassed the field to collect his first career All-Star win.  Sparky MacIver made a late-race pass to collect second-place honors, with Rob DeAlmeida third.

Just a week after Cindy Sevigny posted a win in the Fast-4’s, Amanda Victoria became the second female winner of the 2009 season after an entertaining run in the Outlaw Mini Stock feature.

Victoria had her hands full with the hard-charging Ricky Porter, but she held on to win by a car length to collect the winner’s hardware.  Bruce Knowles scored third in his first All-Star run of the year, followed by Sevigny, Ralph Sanborn, Gary West, and Ken McIlvaine.

In the first of two features for the Fast-4’sit was Greg Cummings and Josh Hodgdon running out front for the first 15 laps.  The pair got tangled up while fighting for the lead, and Jason Poisson took the high line past them both to grab the point.

Two laps later, Joey Fernandez got out of shape in turn two, collecting “Uncle Dana” Sullivan’s VW hard as he tried to get past.  With the right front corner of his racer badly damaged, Sullivan was done for the night.

Poisson picked up the lead once again on the restart, and went the distance to score his second win of the year.  Ken Mailhot, Tyler Mailhot, Hodgdon, Gary West, Cory Sullivan, Cummings, Fernandez, Sevigny, and Dana Sullivan were second through tenth.

Ken Mailhot stepped it up in the second race, holding off a late-race challenge from Poisson, who was looking to double up for the night.  Mailhot picked up his second win of the year, with Poisson, Tyler Mailhot, Cummings, and Sevigny the rest of the top five.

Mike Williams dominated the twin Strictly Stock features, nailing down both wins aboard the Mike White entry.

In the first race, Williams battled side-by-side with Stephen Dubois for the first three laps before moving to the front, and he stayed there for the rest of the 25-lapper.  Mark Parenteau, Dubois, Rosebud Shea, and Ricky Porter finished up the top five.

The second time around, it was Shea leading the first several laps, but in the end, it was once again Williams leading them to the checkers.  Shea, Parenteau, Dubois, and Porter were second through fifth.
