Points battle heats up with two weeks remaining

This weekend Speedway 660’s five divisions will battle for positioning in the points standings as they prepare for the final points events a week later on August 27.

In the O’Leary Auto Group Pro Stock division Greg Fahey of St. Stephen has won every feature this season, currently sitting at 214 points, 16 ahead of Chris Duncan of Hampton in second. Matt Harris of Fredericton Junction and Brian Gillespie of Nackawic currently sit in third, 23 points back of Fahey.

Reigning champion of the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division currently leads the division, 29 points ahead of Saint John’s Randy Moore in second. Mackenzie has yet to win a feature this season, but his lowest feature finish was eighth on June fourth and has finished in the top five since.

Rick Cashol of Saint John had his worst feature finish of the season last week by finishing sixth, but he still leads the division points with a strong 27 point lead as he looks for his fifth division championship. Benji Ruff of Carlow currently sits in second, with Shannon Brake of Carbonear, NL in third place, 33 points back.

The tightest points standings going into the final weeks is in the 4 Cylinder division as Tyler Seveck of Temperance Vale leads Geary’s own Robert Flowers by only four points. Kevin Dunster of Oromocto and T.J. Madore of Geary are still within reach in third and fourth place, back 15 and 20 points.

The Hanwell Village Mart Bandolero division Dana Hamm-Cameron of Fredericton will look to get back in victory lane after his streak of three-straight feature wins snapped this past weekend. Hamm-Cameron sits in first place at 512 points, while Alicia Mowatt of Hardwood Ridge sits in second place with 479 and Cole Boundreau of Chipman is at 476 points in third.
