Rookie Donahue Overcomes for Win in Tiger Sportsmen Twin 50s
Barre, VT – Seventeen-year-old Stephen Donahue of Graniteville was not to be denied at Thunder Road on Thursday, August 13 as he took the overall win in the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen Twin 50s on U.S. Army Recruiting Night.
The rookie won the first 50-lap feature after Wolcott’s Brendan Moodie blew a right-front tire while racing with Donahue coming to the white flag. But Donahue had a right front of his own go down on lap 12 of the second feature after contact with point leader Jason Woodard.

The Return Home: Granite State Pro Stock Series and Derek Griffith Return to Hudson International Speedway
HUDSON, NH – Derek Griffith continues his breakout year, racking up solid finishes on the Granite State Pro Stock Series, including his first four wins on the tour. In June, Griffith won in front of his hometown crowd at Hudson International Speedway, and is hopeful for another good run on August 23.
Griffith has lead the championship standings since the second race of the season, only finishing outside the top 6 once, at Speedway 51 after expiring a motor. The young star has had a season like no other driver in the tour’s history, and with only three races left, the 2015 championship is lurking in the back Griffith’s mind.

Hot Streak Has Andrew Hayes Back in Championship Contention in Stafford Speedway’s Limited Late Model Division
(Stafford Springs, CT)—For the majority of the 2015 season, the race for the Limited Late Model championship has been a 2-man race between Al Saunders and defending track champion Andrew Hayes. For the first half of the season, Saunders and Hayes were neck and neck in the standings, with the margin between them as small as 6 points as late as July 3rd. Two consecutive finishes outside the top-10 for Hayes changed things up and allowed Saunders to open up a 52 point lead, but that gap has begun to shrink thanks to the red hot streak that Hayes and the #9 Asnuntuck Community College team find themselves currently on.

Matt Galko, Geoff Boisjolie, Tony Membrino, Jr., Kelsey Rottino, & Nicole Chambrello Win CBYD 811 Challenge Bonus at Stafford Speedway
(Stafford Springs, CT)—For the third consecutive season, Call Before You Dig has partnered with Stafford Speedway to present the CBYD 811 Challenge as a unique way to raise awareness about CBYD’s 811 number to call before beginning an excavation project. The CBYD 811 Challenge is open to drivers in each of Stafford’s five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions and awards five drivers an $811 bonus at the conclusion of the August 7th feature events utilizing a special points system. This year’s $4,055 in bonus money from CBYD brings the 3-year total for the program to over $12,000 distributed to Stafford drivers.
“Call Before You Dig was very happy with the 811 Challenge this year,” said Derek Brown, Vice President of Damage Prevention and Education for Call Before You Dig. “With the fact that we’ve not had any rainouts this season, it’s really changed up the points accumulation and we were happy to see the bonus money go to five teams who were all deserving of some extra help. With the CBYD 811 Challenge ending on August 7th, it gave us a great way to remind everyone that August 11 is National 811 Day and to always call 811 before you start an excavation project.”

TRAVIS BEALE TAKES WILD ROADRUNNER FEATURE AT 95
Hampden’s Travis Beale survived five restarts in the crash-marred 20 lap RoadRunner feature at Speedway 95 Wednesday night, and had to hold off a persistent William McCullough of Kenduskeag to pull off the win. McCullough kept his car right on Beale’s bumper for the entire distance, but was never able to gain the lead, despite opportunities on each restart following a red flag. The red flag flew each time for multiple car wrecks, reducing the 42 car starting field to just 19 running at the finish. McCullough finished second, followed by Bob Seger Jr. of Frankfort in third. Ken Ogden of Seal Cove drove a strong race to finish fourth, with Dixmont driver Rick Gomm finishing fifth. Ogden, Beale and Newburgh’s Dustan Durrell won the three heat races that set the field for the feature event
Zach Audet of Skowhegan passed Hampden’s Danielle Beale on lap 11 of the 20 lap caution free Modified Enduro feature and pulled away from the field to post his fourth win in a row. Beale finished second, only a few feet ahead of Dennis Burns of Carmel, who finished third. Fourth went to Rhonda Crain of Hermon with Scott Bonney of Stetson finishing fifth.
