Coby Recovers From Penalty For Third Consecutive Thompson Win
It was round three for the NASCAR Whelen Modifed Tour at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Wednesday, August 12th as the tour made its penultimate appearance of 2015 at the historic venue for the Bud “King of Beers” 150, the tenth race in the fifteen-race season for the tour.
Defending series champion Doug Coby was riding a wave of momentum into the race with wins in the first two events at the track this season. Points leader Ryan Preece, who claimed his first win at Thompson in the series during last year’s World Series weekend, looked to continue his own momentum riding a slim four point lead over Woody Pitkat in the series points standings into the night.

Tremont Completes Weekend Sweep on Dirt Track at Devil’s Bowl Speedway
Douville rides the top for SCoNE win; Older, Severance carry checkered flags
WEST HAVEN, VT – Kenny Tremont Jr. thought he had done it all in dirt track Modified stock car racing, but found out that there were still some “firsts” left for him to achieve. His victory on Vermont Army National Guard Night at The Dirt Track at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, August 9 was the headline moment of a four-division card for the Berlin Optical Expressions Dirt Track Series that also saw Danny Douville, Darrell Older, and Justin Severance win.
A winner of more than 300 races and over 30 championships during his long career, Tremont went wire-to-wire in the 35-lap feature for the Liberty Street Discount Beverage & Deli Sportsman Modifieds on Sunday. He topped a field of 25 starters to become the first driver to win more than one feature race in the Sportsman class since the new 3/10-mile Dirt Track opened at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in September 2014. Three Stars Awarded for ACT Beech Ridge 150
Waterbury, VT – The American Racer Three Star program is designed to recognize three teams in no particular order of performance that had outstanding races at American-Canadian Tour (ACT) U.S. Tour events. There are no specific criteria for deciding who might receive the award of a free American Racer Tire (value $125.00), but a special effort by a team, exceptional race, just plain old hard luck, or any other accepted reason is used to decide the award recipients.
The Three Stars are chosen by ACT officials and will receive certificates for use of a free American Racer tire at a race of their choosing during the 2015 season.

Tiger Sportsmen Take the Stage on U.S. Army Recruiting Night
Barre, VT – The stretch drive of Thunder Road’s weekly racing season continues this Thursday night, August 13 with U.S. Army Recruiting Night. With just four point-counting events remaining on the 2015 Thunder Road racing calendar, it’s “go time” in the championship battles for the Thunder Road Late Models, Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks.
The famed Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman division will take the stage on Thursday night. Thunder Road officials have announced the Tiger Sportsmen will run twin 50-lap Milk Bowl–style features. The finish of the first 50-lap feature will be inverted to set the starting line-up for the second feature. The driver with the best combined finish in the two features will be the overall winner.

Saturday marked the return of Wings and Wheels to the New London-Waterford Speedbowl for the 8th consecutive season. The Valenti Modified Racing Series, along with 6 other divisions were on the card for the annual event.
Starting the night off, the SK Modified division took to the track for 35 laps of open wheeled action. Leading the field to the first green flag of the night was Jeff Gallup. Gallup led the first 5 laps until Rob Janovic used a move to the inside to take the lead, with Tyler Chadwick and Joey Gada following. The yellow flag came out on lap 7, when Tim Jordan made contact with Craig Lutz, sending Lutz into the Turn 3 wall. On the ensuing restart, Chadwick used the high side to power by Janovic, and never looked back.
