THE HEWINS DOMINATE STRICTLY STREET

Wiscasset Speedway held its weekly races last Saturday. The warm summer day turned into a cool summer evening, and the cars raced under the big lights. Fans were gathered to watch five races: Strictly Street, Outlaw Mini’s, Late Model Sportsman, Modifieds, and the flex race of the week was the Amsoil Nelcar Legends.

First on the track were the Strictly Streets for a Spotlighted main event of thirty-five laps. Heat winner Bryan Robbins of the #51X started at the pole with the #51 of Kyle Hewins beside him. In third was Chanler Harrison of the #85.

When the green flag waved over the track, Bryan Robbins and Kyle Hewins raced door to door. Behind was a battle for third, with the #83 of Dan Brown moving from his sixth place start to third when he passed Harrison on the back stretch during lap one.

ACTPolewarczyk Takes Third Win of Season in People’s United Bank 100

West Haven, VT – Defending American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Champion Joey Polewarczyk Jr. took his third win of the season in the People’s United Bank 100 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday, June 6.

Hudson, NH’s “Joey Pole” worked his way up from the seventh starting position and got inside Tour point leader Wayne Helliwell Jr. on lap 74 of the 100-lap event. Pole completed the pass a lap later and motored away to win a caution-free race.

“You never really expect a race to go caution-free, but with this Tour, it can happen,” Pole said. “100 laps is kind of a short race for us, so our plan was to try and get to the front as quick as we could. But in the beginning I was battling with Travis Stearns and couldn’t really make much ground. So I backed off for a little while, and finally said ‘let’s try it again’.

Carmel’s Jeremy Scott led the first 2 laps of the Street’s Landscaping Series 30 lap feature for the Coca-Cola Sport-Fours Saturday night at Speedway until he was passed by Donny Silva of Hudson on lap 3. Scott remained in second place to the checkers, fighting off Jason Trundy of Winterport and Andrew Crosby of Hermon as the three raced nose to tail all race long. Trundy ran behind Crosby until lap 25, when he snuck by on the inside after pinning Crosby behind a lapped car. Trundy then challenged Scott to the flag, but was unable to make the pass. In post-race inspection, Silva, who crossed the finish line first, was disqualified for being 120 pounds under the weight minimum.
