BRADFORD, VT – Ryan Christian Canaan NH survived several restarts holding off the hard charges of Mike Gendron Newbury VT to claim his first career win in the Bond Auto DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds. Gendron was waiting for one slip from Christian, as the laps ticked off but Christian held firm to the bottom of the track. Leaving Gendron nowhere to go but on the outside. Gendron’s car was also strong on the bottom, and thus figured 2nd was better than last, ready to try again another day. The one who did make it work on the outside in dominate fashion, and hoping for another 10 laps was the “Fairlee Flyer” Kevin Chaffee, Bradford VT. Chaffee having missed qualifying by one position found himself looking from the 23rd position of the field thru a very long line of cars to the front. Never one to give up Chaffee tested the waters on the outside groove, and began to sail to the front. Laps would be his enemy this night as time would run out before he could set challenge on the front two. Chaffee happily claimed the third and final victory lane spot of the night. Jason Gray and Adam Pierson rounded out the top five.

NEMST: Sonnhalter Falls Inches Shy In Speedbowl Finish

Sonnhalter Falls Inches Shy In Speedbowl Finish

Many teams across New England felt that the 2014 NEMST event at Waterford Speedbowl may have been the final time the series battled on the weathered Connecticut surface. Thankfully Waterford Speedbowl was bought in the off season and kept a race track. The NEMST would have a chance to return to one of the raciest tracks in New England once again, this time under a new name, management, and officials.

Saturday night the touring mini stocks filled the gates of New London-Waterford Speedbowl with a 20 car field set to take green later in the evening. Nick Anderson and Toby Wells won their respective Environmental Engines heat races however Wells would be forced to start in the rear of the field after failing to report directly to the NEMST inspection trailer following the heat race. The invert of 4 rows was drawn by Anderson after winning his heat.
