Seekonk Speedway Fast Friday results for 9/21/2012

seekonkMelberg and Buffington claim titles and wins. Shepard, Belcher and Barboza win while McDonald, Blais and Boudreau clinch Seekonk championships.

Jesse Melberg picked up his sixth win of the 2012 season at Seekonk Speedway, closing out the Fast Friday series with his first career championship in the Pure Stocks. Tim Demarderosian took the lead on the opening circuit of the 25 lap main, and held on for the first few circuits until he was caught up in an incident, eliminating him, Earl Curtin, John Robidoux and Bill Doyle.

Amy Arsenault took over at the helm, and set the pace for the half dozen laps while Melberg worked his way 3 wide to the battle at the top of the leader board. When they crossed the line for lap 10, the Champion found himself out front, and from there, never backed down. Amy held on to the second position until Chris Lima moved past with a handful of laps remaining. Arsenault wound up third, with Randy Moretti and Jamie Salley fourth and fifth.

GORDON WILL LEAD THE FIELD TO GREEN IN SYLVANIA 300 AT NEW HAMPSHIRE
EARNS FOURTH CAREER POLE AT NHMS

Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 Drive To End Hunger Chevrolet, will lead the field to the green in Sunday’s Sylvania 300 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Round 28 on the tour and the second stop of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Gordon posted a lap of 28.232 seconds, 134.911 mph to capturing the 72nd pole of his Cup career in 681 starts and fourth pole award at NHMS. This is Gordon’s second pole of 2012 and his 12th start from inside the top-10 this season.

Defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart qualified third in his No. 14 Mobil 1/Office Depot Chevrolet, which will mark the 18th time he has started in the top-10 at NHMS. Fellow driver and defending NHMS winner, Kasey Kahne, No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet qualified sixth.

Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, N.H., for the fourth annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational on Saturday, September 22. Hoar, a former track record holder at New England’s largest speedway, will join 42 other drivers from the ACT Late Model Tour, ACT Castrol Series and weekly Late Model divisions from across the northeast and Canada for the 50-lap All-Star event. Hoar finished fifth in the event last season in the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge Charger, just one month removed from winning the only ACT Late Model Tour points race ever contested at The Magic Mile. The race is part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sylvania 300 weekend at the track and is one of four races to be held as part of the Saturday program.

Five-time champion takes the pole for Sunday’s SYLVANIA 300

LOUDON, N.H. (Sept. 21, 2012) – Looks like Jeff Gordon has put Chicagoland firmly in the rearview mirror.

Less than a week after a 35th-place finish appeared to abandon any momentum Gordon established at the end of the regular season, the five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion has officially inserted himself back into the Chase for the championship mix.

The ‘Magic’ Returns in 2013

Speedway to once again host races in July, September next season

LOUDON, N.H. (Sept. 21, 2012) – New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials announced this morning that the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will return for two races in 2013, with the first race scheduled for July 14 and the second for Sept. 22.

The SYLVANIA 300, the second race in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, is still two days away, but “The Magic Mile” is already looking forward to next year.
