Eight-time Tour champion inches closer to 2012 ACT Title

BARRE, Vt. – Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., took advantage of shrewd pit strategy at Thunder Road International Speedbowl, emerging with crucial track position and holding off all comers to win the Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200 on Sunday afternoon. Hoar led the most laps en route to his record 37th career ACT Late Model Tour victory and inched to within eight points of the series lead with just one race remaining.

The win was the second in a row in this event for RPM Motorsports, which also won the event in 2011 with Nick Sweet driving as a teammate to Hoar.

Late Model 100 Run, ROY Title Highlight Busy Week For 15-Year-Old

In five days, Emily Packard logged nearly 200 laps of racing, countless hours of practice and testing and tackled some of the most challenging tracks in the northeast.
From a test on the one-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway to NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competition at Canaan Fair Speedway to another Top-5 finish at Thunder Road International Speedbowl, the 15-year-old high school sophomore experienced virtually every type of track and every kind of emotion associated with racing in New England.

“We had a great week. With all the ups and downs, it definitely equaled out,” Packard said. “We definitely had a good week and a great end to the season. I’m already excited for next weekend.”
Packard started with a day-long test session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last Wednesday as teams prepared for the fourth annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational on September 22. Though Packard has not been formally afforded an official invite yet, she posted the sixth-fastest practice speed of the afternoon session at NHMS in just her first trip to the track.

GEARY, New Brunswick – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished fifth in his first career start in the Auto Value 250 at Speedway 660 in Geary, New Brunswick, on Sunday, September 2. The annual end-of-summer Super Late Model open competition on the .333-mile oval attracted a handful of PASS North Series regulars as well as a number of Maritime-based Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour competitors. Doiron won his heat race and qualified fourth in the 28-car field after being among the fastest cars in practice. He led in the early going, recovered from two small mechanical issues and held on to finish fifth after challenging eventual winner Cassius Clark for the lead late in the event.

Cassius Clark wins PASS North Auto Value 250 at Speedway 660

PASS NorthFarmington, Maine’s Cassius Clark is the 2012 Auto Value 250 champion. Clark capped off an impressive SpeedWeekend run to take the checkered flag in Atlantic Canada’s biggest short track race of the season. The Pro All Star Series points leader won the race ahead of second place D.J. Shaw from Center Conway, New Hampshire and Matt Harris from Fredericton Junction.

“Wow what a run, the King Racing team of Rollie MacDonald gave me a great car tonight and I am thrilled to be the Auto Value 250 champion” said Clark in Speedway 660’s Victory Lane. “I love Canada and to follow up the Atlantic Cat 250 win at Scotia SpeedWorld with Speedway 660’s Auto Value 250 this year is certainly one of the biggest thrills of my racing career.”

Clark led 120 laps en route to his victory and picked up 21 thousand dollars in prize money. John Flemming captured the Modern Electric half way challenge, led 72 laps, finished 8th and takes home more than 67 hundred dollars in prize money.

Granite State Pro Stocks Enter Monadnock Speedway for JBH 100

Series to honor the late series co-founder John Hoyt

WINCHESTER, NH — The Granite State Pro Stock Series will make their second attempt to run the John Hoyt Memorial JBH 100 on Saturday, September 8 at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH. The event was rained out after practice on August 4.

Hoyt was in the midst of forging the series with Mike Parks when he unexpectedly passed away in July of 2011.
