Logano Advances To Chase Eliminator Round With Charlotte Win

JOEY LOGANO – No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Fusion – VICTORY LANE INTERVIEW – “We had a great car. Todd Gordon and this Shell/Pennzoil team, all of Team Penske, you always want to win it. Charlotte is everybody’s home turf and you want to make it happen here. What a great car. We led a ton of laps and I just have to thank Ford and Shell and AutoTrader, SKF, Coca-Cola – everyone that supports what we’re doing. This makes Talladega way easier. I know that’s on everyone’s mind when this round starts and last year we won Kansas when it was the first race of this round and now we were able to get it this time at Charlotte. We’ll get lots of sleep here the next couple of weeks.”

Practice saw Emily and the team working on trying to loosen up a tight race car and dialing the car in to her liking for the heat race. “The car was okay during practice,” said Packard. “We weren’t spectacular but we were about the same as we have been in the past few times we have run here at Airborne, with an okay race car.” As they lined up for the heats, the 18-year old started from the 4th position, on the outside. She found herself running as high as second, but was passed late in the heat race to finish fifth, and it was on to the consolation race.

Joey Logano NHMS Interview

Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Fusion, is the defending champion of this weekend’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and a repeat win would guarantee advancement into the Contender’s Round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. He visited the infield media center earlier today and talked about a number of topics.

JOEY LOGANO – No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Fusion – HOW IS YOUR CONFIDENCE GOING INTO THIS WEEKEND? “I feel pretty good about it. This has been a good race track for us the last couple of years. Obviously, this is my home track so I talk about that a lot when I come up here, but I really want to win here again. I feel like we’re in good position after last week. We had a solid finish and that positioned ourselves pretty good to race fairly aggressive through this race and try to get a win like we did last year.”
