2013-2014 race schedule announced for East Coast Snocross,

CHESHIRE, Conn. (Oct. 9, 2013) – As the leaves continue to fall and our thoughts turn to the coming winter, officials at East Coast Snocross (ECS) are pleased to announce their 2013-2014 event schedule. As the sanctioning body prepares for its fourth season, teams and fans alike can begin making their plans.
Technically, since ECS picked up where the former regional circuit (RMR) left off, this is the 23rd consecutive season for sanctioned snocross here in the northeast. RMR held its first races during the winter of 1991-92, and since that time – the sport has advanced by leaps and bounds.

Friday, Oct 4th, 2013 – Shediac’s CENTRE for Speed will roar once again with the sound of race cars from throughout Atlantic Canada, from as far away as St. John’s Newfoundland to Bathurst, NB as drivers and teams compete in seven divisions for the coveted title of MetalCORE Atlantic Champion. The weekend racing starts off on Saturday at 1 PM with qualifying for the Pro Stock 150, Sportsman 100 and Open Wheel 35 with feature racing slated to begin at 3 PM. CFS expects to see upwards of 18 to 22 cars compete in the Pro Stock Division with a total of 24 cars registered. Lonnie Sommerville (2012 Defending Champion) from Saint John, NB, Wayne Smith (Timberlee, NS), Jonathan Hicken (Charlottetown, PEI) and Josh Collins (St. John’s, Nfld.) are a few of the top competitors from throughout the region who have entered to compete in the Pro Stock Division. Sarah McKay of Saint John, NB will mark the first time ever at the event that a woman has competed in the Division and is one of a few women in the Maritimes to ever race a top flight car in the region. A strong field of Sportsman are also registered including past Atlantic and Track Champions along with the regular contingent of Open Wheel competitors. Racing continues on Sunday at 1 PM with 100 lap features in the Street Stock and Mini Stock Divisions as well as racing in an entry level 4 Cylinder Class, Mini Cups (5/8’s scale NASCAR style Cup Cars), and Bandoleros. The speedway expects to close and competitive racing on Sunday with all the best drivers from throughout the region registered to compete.

Jensen wins race – Mercer’s take the title!
September 15, 2013- Steven Jensen, from Douglas Harbour, won his first ENDURO 200 at Speedway 660 on Sunday. Jensen led all three segments of the race to take the checkered flag. Clifford and Chuck Mercer, who finished second in the race won the 2013 ENDURO Championship for the second year in a row.
“We usually come up here to smash and bang, but today we thought we would try to actually win the race and it feels pretty good to get our first ever victory” said Jensen. “Our team works hard to keep our ENDURO car ready to race, but all of the guys want to thank our wives who put up with us and let us come out to Speedway 660 for some fun.”
Chuck and Clifford Mercer had their string of three straight ENDURO wins broken on Sunday, but they were strong enough to take second in the race. That was good for their second consecutive ENDURO championship.

Patrick Laperle Wins St-Eustache 100
Jean-François Déry Pads Point Lead
St-Eustache, QC – Patrick Laperle of St-Denis, QC claimed the St-Eustache 100 win in front of his hometown crowd at Autodrome St-Eustache on Saturday, September 14. The 100-lap event was originally scheduled for June 1 but was postponed twice due to rain before being scheduled as the first leg of a doubleheader weekend. Jean-François Déry of Quebec City took second position and strengthened his point lead heading into tomorrow’s 200-lap finale at St-Eustache.
Second place point man Alex Labbe of St-Albert, QC led early in the event before fading backwards in the middle stages of the event. Donald Theetge stole the lead from Labbe until contact on a lap 15 restart sent him spinning in turn one. Jonathan Bouvrette edged Labbe on the ensuing restart and appeared to be the fastest car on the track until Déry got by him while the two worked through lapped traffic.

(Halifax, NS, September 11, 2013) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will close out another sensational season this Saturday at Scotia Speedworld with the Dartmouth Dodge 200. After 12 events in five cities, over 40 competitors and 1,650 feature laps, it all comes down to the final 200 circuits to decide who will be crowned the 2013 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Champion – and who will cash the $10,000.00 cheque! Qualifying for the Dartmouth Dodge 200 gets underway at 3:10 PM with the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials followed by championship racing set for 4:00 PM. Grandstand gates open at 1:00 PM.
Three-time series champion John Flemming (Halifax, NS) enters the Season Finale Dartmouth Dodge 200 with a 49 point lead over fellow three-time series champ Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB). Tucker has been dominating the second half of the season but even if he is able to pull off his fifth win of the season and take the Linde Most Lap Led Award, it would give him the maximum 210 points, meaning Flemming will still only need to finish 19th or better in order to take home his fourth title.

Antigonish NS, September 7, 2013) – Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) took home his second consecutive and fourth Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour victory of the 2013 season Saturday night in the Lucas Oil 100 at Riverside International Speedway. The event came down to a green-white-checkered finish where Tucker had to hold off hometown favorite Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) and Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) for the victory. Second and third finished neck-to-neck with a mere 0.018 second split between the two as they crossed the finish line. Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year contender Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) came home fourth and sophomore Brad Eddy (Lower Sackville, NS) in the #13 King Competition Ford finished fifth.
