Championship ENDURO 200 goes Sunday

Speedway 660 holds it’s final event of the 2013 season this Sunday at 2PM. After getting rained-out on SpeedWeekend, the 2013 ENDURO 200 Championship race will be held on Sunday afternoon. It is guaranteed to be a wild and crazy way to end the racing season.

“The drivers and fans were disappointed not to be able to run the final ENDURO 200 of the season on SpeedWeekend, but everyone is excited about coming back this Sunday to get the race in” said Speedway 660’s Michelle Roy. “The Championship 200 is more intense than the ENDURO’s we held earlier in the season because the title is on the line and drivers will beat and bang a lot harder knowing they’ve got all winter to repair the damage.”

ROLLS TO RIVERSIDE FOR PENULTIMATE LUCAS OIL 100

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will make its third and final visit of the season to Riverside International this Saturday for the Lucas Oil 100. The high banks of Riverside’s 1/3 mile oval will play host to race 11 of 12 for the high-octane touring series. The event will also mark the third and final Lucas Oil presented race of the season. With local heroes and championship contenders all expected in the field on Saturday, action in the Lucas Oil 100 is sure to be intense. Please note time changes for this event – Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials will get underway at 3:30 PM with racing slated for 4:30 PM.

With only two races remaining on the 2013 schedule the chase for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Championship is quickly coming to a close. Three-time series champ John Flemming (Halifax, NS) holds a 74 point lead over fellow three-time series champion Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB). Tucker is the most recent winner on the series but with only two races remaining and a maximum of a 60 point gain per race time is running out to catch Flemming. Tucker will keep his eyes set on maintaining his second place position over current series champion Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) who trails by less than 20 points. Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) and Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) round out the top five in the championship standings.

Tucker wins the Auto Value 250!

Fredericton- Shawn Tucker dominated the 2013 Auto Value 250 on SpeedWeekend Sunday at Speedway 660. Tucker led 177 laps, including the Modern Electric Half Way Challenge Award, for the biggest pay day in his illustrious racing career. Tucker claimed over $25,000 of the more than $70,000 purse to become the first three-time Auto Value 250 winner.

“This is amazing, this is a team win, this is an incredible accomplishment for us and I am proud of everyone on our race team who has worked so hard to put us in the Riverview Ford Victory Lane tonight” said Shawn Tucker. “This car was awesome, it was really hooked up and to win our third Auto Value 250 in front of this great Speedway 660 crowd and against this quality field of cars is a huge thrill for all of us.”

Kirk Thibeau, the winner of the very first Auto Value 250, had a great run finishing second and Ben Rowe brought Hal’ONeal’s machine home in third place. Tucker, Dave O’Blenis and Brian Gillespie won the heat races, while Lonnie Sommerville and Kevin Moore took the Consolation races.

Colby Smith wins the Irving Blending & Packaging 150

Colby Smith, from Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia won the $5000 first place prize money in the Irving Blending & Packaging 150 early Sunday morning at Speedway 660. After a two hour rain delay, Smith out-dueled Dave O’Blenis to win the biggest Sportsman race of the year.

“Our first SpeedWeekend victory is the biggest win of our racing career and to outrun Dave’OBlenis is an incredible accomplishment” said a jubilant Smith from the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane. “Dave and I have raced each other many times over the last few years and it’s a thrill to win the Irving Blending & Packaging 150 in front of this big Speedway 660 crowd.”

Alex Labbe Marches to ACT Riverside St-Croix Can-Am Win

St-Croix, QC – Alex Labbe of St-Albert, QC led the final 80 laps of the American Canadian Tour Can-Am 200 at Circuit Riverside Speedway Saturday, August 24 on his way to his first Série ACT win of the season. Labbe held off runner-up finisher Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. over the last several restarts to claim the victory in the combination ACT US and Série ACT QC event. It was his second career Série ACT win and first since joining the Larue Industrial Snow Blower team in 2013.

Pole sitter Jean-François Déry jumped out to the early lead over the first 27 laps until Wayne Helliwell, Jr. climbed his way from his ninth starting position to challenge for the lead. The pair would swap the lead several times through numerous restarts with Helliwell leading the majority of the first 120 laps. On lap 121, Labbe jumped to the point and would never relinquish the lead. Polewarczyk made several attempts to steal the win but could not find the grip on the outside and settled for second just ahead of Déry.

Fahey makes history at Speedway 660

Fredericton N.B.- Greg Fahey did something on Saturday night that no other driver has done in the history of Speedway 660. Fahey won the 2013 Martins Home Heating Sportsman division title and became the first driver to win titles in all of Speedway 660’s top three divisions.

Fahey who owns three pro stock and two street stock championship trophies won his first sportsman title and sixth overall. The Charlotte County native captured his latest championship by winning his heat and dash and finishing second in the feature on Fan Appreciation Night of Champions.
