Butcher Wins 17th Annual Atlantic Cat 250

(Halifax, NS, August 13th, 2016) – Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) took home his second Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour win of the season Saturday night in fashion, winning the prestigious Atlantic Cat 250. Butcher took the lead on lap 42 and battled with Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) and 2013 Cat 250 winner Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) for the remainder of the 250 laps. Slaunwhite would finish second, ahead of Proude, who fought suspension issues with his car from early in the Atlantic Cat 250. Five-time Series champion John Flemming (Halifax, NS) finished fourth in his second start of the season, ahead of Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside, NS) in Daryl Mahar’s (Hubley, NS) #66 car.

ATLANTIC CAT 250 WEEKEND OFFERS PACKED LINE UP FOR RACE FANS

(Halifax, NS, August 10, 2016) The Atlantic Cat 250, Halifax’s most anticipated stock car racing weekend of the season, returns to Scotia Speedworld this Friday and Saturday for two days of full throttle excitement! This year’s event will attract the best stock car drivers from the Maritimes and beyond. Friday night the Affordable Fuels Sportsman will kick things off as they go head-to-head in a 100 lap shootout. Saturday race fans will see the stars of the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour battle for 250 grueling laps in the weekend’s main feature, the Atlantic Cat 250, which has a posted purse of over $60,000.00!

The Affordable Fuels and Metro Home Heating Sportsman division will take centre stage in their longest race of the year. Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside) has gone to victory lane in this race in each of the last three years and will look to extend the streak to four on Friday night. He will have to fight off the best Sportsman drivers in the province and beyond though in order to defend the Affordable Fuels 100. Point leader Pete Miller (Kennetcook) leads the charge of CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series competitors into this event. He, along with Matt Moore (Falmouth), Aaron Boutilier (Porter’s Lake) and Travis Roma (West Chezzetcook) have all won features this season.

PRO STOCK TOUR HEADS TO PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND FOR LUCAS OIL 100

(Halifax, NS, July 26, 2016) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour heads to Oyster Bed Speedway this Saturday for the Lucas Oil 100. This is the only stop on Prince Edward Island this season for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. The Lucas Oil 100 marks race eight of twelve on the season for the Maritime based stock car racing series. Qualifying for the Lucas Oil 100 gets underway with Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races at 6:00 PM.

The Lucas Oil 100 at Oyster Bed Speedway is shaping up to be an unofficial “battle of the bridge” as at least ten Island drivers will look to defend their turf against the drivers coming from the mainland. Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) is the defending winner of the Lucas Oil 100 while former Oyster Bed Speedway winners Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE), Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) and Kent Vincent (Westmoreland, PE) will also look to return to former home track glory.

BUTCHER RETURNS TO VICTORY LANE AT IRVING OIL BLENDING & PACKAGING 150

(Moncton, NB, July 24, 2016) – A day later than scheduled due to rain, Cole Butcher of Porter’s Lake, NS led 129 laps en route to his first win of the season at the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 150 at Petty International Raceway Sunday afternoon. In the final few laps, working through lapped traffic, the Linde Most Laps Led winner had to hold off a hard charging Cassius Clark (Farmington, ME) who settled for 2nd position. With 20 laps to go Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) blasted to third position from sixth to complete the podium. Islanders Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) and Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) completed the top five.

CHISHOLM TAKES EMOTIONAL VICTORY AT IWK 250

(Antigonish, NS- July 16, 2018) – After many attempts and heartbreaking losses Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) finally made it to Victory Lane at the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body, taking home the John W. Chisholm Memorial Cup. Chisholm has been to Victory Lane 5 times during his career at his home track of Riverside International Speedway but the prestigious IWK 250 and Memorial Cup named after his Father had eluded him until tonight. Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) gave chase until the checkers flew but came up just short taking second place. Two-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Matt Crafton (Tulare, CA) had his best IWK 250 finish to date coming home third. Ron MacGillivray 150 winner Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) and Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) completed the top five.

Competition got underway with five Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races for the 35 competitors vying to make the 31 car field. Heat races were won by Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS), Jeff Fultz (Troutman, NC), Greg Proude (Springvale, PE), Donald Chisholm and George Koszkulics (New Glasgow, NS). John Rankin (St. Martin’s, NB) won the Atlantic Tiltload B Feature.

PROUDE POWERS TO VICTORY LANE IN CUMMINS 100 AT SPEEDWAY 660

(Fredericton, NB, July 3, 2016) Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) returned to Victory Lane for the first time since 2010 after taking the lead on lap 20 of the Cummins 100 at Speedway 660 on Sunday afternoon. Proude took the lead from pole sitter and defending series champion Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) and held off Cassius Clark (Farmington, ME) over the last 20 laps for his first win at Speedway 660. Clark finished second ahead of Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS), who started last in the 20-car field and charged to the front of the running order. Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) and Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) completed the top five.

Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races determined the starting grid for the Cummins 100 which saw Chisholm, DJ Casey (Prospect, NS) and Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) victorious. Eventual winner, Proude, led a total of 86 laps to take home the Linde Most Laps Led Award and an extra ten Championship Points. The King Freight Lines Future Winner and Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race Award were taken home by Harry Ross White (Noel Road, NS) after finishing in 10th place.

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is off next weekend as the drivers and teams prepare for the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body happening the following Saturday, July 16 at Riverside International Speedway. Tickets are still available, to purchase visit www.riversidespeedway.ca.
